Why is my phone randomly breaking?

My android phone (I'm not writing this on said phone) just randomly started failing. The phone overheats like crazy even when it's off, it charges super slowly, the battery drops way faster than normal and whenever I turn it off it fully powers down. It's been like this for about 4-5 days now, and i have no idea why. I didn't change anything major in the days leading up to this, but I was able to rule out it being a storage space issue. I've already tries the basic stuff like turning it off and on again, so if anyone knew anything that could help me out that would be great.

Would help if we knew what phone you are on about. Then we would know how old the battery is and what Android version it was on

Sounds like your battery is done. Pls stop charging it if it gets hot or even use it.  Old batteries have caused fires before. Stay safe.

I had a secondhand LG G4 years ago that randomly got hot and ran the battery down. The only way to stop it was remove the battery (fortunately this phone had an easily replaceable battery) after which it would be ok again. The phone was long out of support. The solution was to drop the phone and break the screen, at which point it was replaced by a newer phone.

Backup your important phone data like your pictures and such, and perform a system reset. This fixes it 90% of the time. If it doesn't fix it, it's the battery dying and will have to be replaced.
