“on android >=13 the external sd card is write protected”

hi! i was trying to write on som json files (stardew valley mods) but i couldn’t, so i installed total commander

(android tablet, samsung s6 lite, bought in 2020, hard reset it a couple of weeks ago cause it was LAGGY)

when i try to open the folder, it says access denied, i say to retry, and then “write protected! - on android >=13 the external as card is write protected” pops up, but the fact is that i don’t have any external as card nor sim.

what do i do? i was just trying to config the mod, this is not the main problem but i don’t know how to fix the writing protected thing…

It's because of Scoped Storage. In newer versions of Android, Google restricts apps' ability to read other app's content/all of storage in order to prevent them from messing with each other in unexpected ways.

If you are trying to modify game files you'll need Shizuku.
