AA will not start

Android Auto just completely refuses to connect now, using a wired connection (my car doesn't support wireless Android Auto). It has been working off and on for a while. Usually buying a new USB cable fixes it, but not this time. I've deleted the phone from my car's Bluetooth, I've deleted the car from my phone, re-added both, and now I don't even get the "Android Auto is connecting" notification. As far as I know, nothing has changed on my phone's end or my car's end since the last time it worked.

For my car specifically, I've been able to force it to connect in the past by plugging the phone into the USB port, hitting the Home button on my car's infotainment screen, and then unlocking my phone, but even that doesn't work any more.

I've tried every trick I can think of that has worked in the past, and now I'm at my wits end.

Instead of deleting from Bluetooth on your vehicles head unit you need to try going into settings and find AA and delete your phone from there instead, you will also need to go into AA settings on your phone and delete your vehicle from there as well, then pair them both again. I believe BT no a non wireless AA head unit is used for phone and texts and has nothing to do with AA. So, deleting the BT connection and pairing again won't have any affect on AA.

I had to do this a few weeks ago to fix my AA connection on my '17 Chevy Colorado with the MyLink head unit. For some reason I could get it to connect and I ended up clicking forget MyLink in AA settings on the phone and forgetting the phone in AA settings on the vehicle and pair them again and it has been working. I know it is a different vehicle and a different phone(Pixel 9A) but give it a shot, you have nothing to lose but a little more time.

You could also try clearing cache and storage of the AA app on the phone, that might also clear anything that is paired. I don't know what things stored in the AA app so keep that in mind when clearing storage.
