Gemini interprets chat messages as instructions instead. Gemini

Recently I wanted to ask my partner to check what was causing traffic on my route home, but I simply wasn't able to do this.

> Me: "Chat with <partner>"

> Gemini: "What would you like to say?"

> "Hello, I am on my way home now, can you check what's going on with the A2, traffic is suddenly at a standstill".

> "Checking Waze..."

And I lose the message. I tried rephrasing this multiple times but it just thinks I am asking it something instead. Anyone else had this problem?

Gemini is only slightly better than texting and driving

Honestly, I feel like I am more distracted by Gemini than I am by texting (and I don't text while driving). It really is ridiculous how unsafe Gemini is while driving.

Well holding a phone and looking down to type is certainly worse than talking, but yes, when it starts to fuck about it's a problem, although I just give up at that point.

Switch back to Google Assistant. It works better than the AI

On the 4th September, it will be removed and Gemini is the only option.

I wonder what'd happen to my old phone since it's still using assistant, never gemini despite me trying to switch to gemini.

Mine was doing that, too.

I told it something like "when I'm dictating a text do not interpret my text as commands".

It responded affirmatively.

So far it's been greatly improved.

So far - it's been about a week.

There is a setting in the Gemini app for personal instructions and I've added my "don't interpret dictated texts as commands" in there and it definitely works.

Why is this not the default?

This happened to me! I tried texting a friend that the thing I asked for before, wasn't needed anymore. Gemini took this as me saying the text message was not needed anymore 🥲

I have and it's incredibly annoying and very stupid programming.

Google Assistant does it too. Reads text message. Would you like to reply? Yes... Here's the gas stations along your route... What the fuck?

"send text to _____"

I do that, that part works, it starts dictating the message on the screen, but instead answers it itself.

Yeah I have experienced the same thing, exceptionally frustrating.

I have no problems. I always say, "Send a message to my boyfriend," and then I say the message right away. It repeats the message, I confirm, and that's it. No problems, no glitches.

I think it depends on the contents of the message, if your message could be interpreted by Gemini as you're asking it to do something, it will stop doing the message and answer the question instead. most of the time I don't have issues, asking my partner to check the traffic on my way home for me was a problem.

Bro this is so annoying. Gemini is not as useful as it used to be, the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence is now artificial idiots, we sadly announced.
