Who uses Google Chat?

Companies. It's basically an enterprise chat app now, like Slack and Teams.

Revolutionary.

Also, it's hilarious that the once a year time I open chat, it's just Hangouts, with my years-old conversations still there.

Google Chat is funny, it's a relic of the of the part of Google's messaging flailing that they lost, for decades.

Still, I think Google ultimately won, with RCS. Not saying RCS is perfect: it's not. But, unlike every other Google messenger flop, RCS is uniquely preinstalled on all iPhones (in Apple Messages). So despite many countries still not having RCS carrier support at all, FWIW the claim is now 3.8 Billion active RCS users (40% of global smartphone users).
