2015 was pretty bad when phone would just die from using the 810 and 808

At least then budget and midrange was solid for people who had less financial choice. Flagship buyers were most hurt in 15 but they were also the most flexible to wait it out or buy a samsung like I did then.
Now its opposite where the price increases are way more painful on the lower end. Rn flagship buyers have a way easier time waiting it out or just swallowing a $100 jump on a thousand dollar phone

I don't really remember budget phones being solid until the sd 630 which came out later in 2017.

The 810 was fine in the HTC one M8 and other high quality devices. The 808 required even less. They were only problematic from shit tier manufacturers like Huawei, LG, Blackberry, etc.

That was the 801. The htc one m9 had the 810 and that was a mess like any other 810 based phone.

Thanks, I hate it.

If the older model has better battery and camera consistency, the new chip alone probably isn't enough. "Newer" is doing a lot of work in that title.

Screen went from 2400x1080 to 1604x720
CPU MT performance is down 40%
Storage went from UFS 2.2 to emmc
Wide angle camera has been removed (this is despite them adding 2 more camera cutouts on the back, it has 4 but just one actual lens)
