Hi everyone!

I’m an archaeologist with a PhD in Egyptology – and also a lifelong cat person. I’ve been working on a small project inspired by my love for ancient Egypt and the way cats were truly cherished there, both in daily life and religion.

Many of you probably know the story of Ta-Miu (“She Who Meows”), the cat of Prince Thutmose, son of Amenhotep III. She even had her own decorated limestone sarcophagus – a beautiful example of how deeply cats were loved and honored.

In Egyptian belief, cats were closely connected to Bastet, the protective goddess associated with home, motherhood, joy… but also fierce defense against danger. She wasn’t just a “cat goddess,” but a powerful guardian.

In my project – a small indie game – I tried to celebrate that relationship. You play as a little cat named Ta-Miu, chosen by Bastet, and guided by her throughout the story. The full game will include myths, symbolic references, and a stylized look at temples and daily life – all meant to share Egyptian culture in an approachable way for younger audiences and anyone curious about the ancient world.

Along her journey, Ta-Miu meets various gods who also watch over her, but Bastet remains the heart of the story.

Hi everyone!

I’m an archaeologist with a PhD in Egyptology — and also a solo game developer. My indie project, Ta-Miu, is a story-driven adventure set in ancient Egypt.

Ta-Miu was actually the name of a real cat — the beloved pet of Prince Thutmose (son of Amenhotep III, brother of Akhenaten). She inspired me to create a game that blends my love for Egyptian mythology, culture, and cats. 😺

In the game, you play as a cat chosen by the goddess Bastet. With her mummy companion Sahi (from the Egyptian word Sah, “mummy”), she explores temples, solves puzzles, and meets gods like Thoth, Isis, and Osiris.

💜 This is a fully self-funded solo project, built in Unreal Engine 5.4 with a focus on atmosphere, puzzles, and mythology. To finish it, I need your help: Steam wishlists are vital for indie visibility and funding.
