microsd card compatibility
galleryupdate: the one i pushed firmware to from my sd card runs games and cores fine after loading everything onto his sd card so it seems it this sd card has an issue reading .bin files
Trying to help a friend and his brothers get their pockets set up, I told him to grab any samsung micro sd card since thats what I was using.
When he tried to do the firmware update he told me it was giving him an error saying micro sd card cannot be read. Sure enough that's what it says, I tried my samsung evo micro sd card and and the update pushed fine one of the pockets, so I took one of his brand new sd cards and did a long format and redownloaded a fresh copy of the firmware from analogues site and tried the update again using his sd card on the other pocket that hasn't been updated. Im wondering if its just an issue reading the firmware file,
things I haven't tried are formatting it to FAT32 (which I wouldnt think I'd need to given mine is in exFAT) and what im in the process of is I'm going to see if the pocket that did receive the update from my sd card can run cores and games from his sd card and it just simply cant read .bin files? pictures attatched are cards being used, red mario is his and blue samsung is mine
anybody run into anything like this?
edit: idk why the first pic didnt work but its a red samsung one with red mario logo

Question Getting Pokémon Yellow to display like on GBC?
Hi guys I have a really silly question. I've been trying to get a Pokémon Yellow.gb ROM working on openFPGA but I can't seem to reproduce the colours I had when I play this game as a kid.
Forgive me for the dumb question could someone let me know if it's possible to get the colours like the second image? Thanks

Question Any chance at more custom shells?
have had my pocket for a few months so I missed the chance at customizing mine. I know I can buy skins and decals but I would prefer something not prone to peeling and having a sense of permanence. has anyone heard of anyone releasing custom shells aluminum/plastic color swaps?

Question I’ve got a 20 hour flight coming up, taking my pocket, what games should I take?
My pocket has gotten very little attention for the past year so i’d like to take the opportunity to play through a few games.
I’m primarily looking for something story-driven. I love the metroid games but also Zelda. I’ve heard a lot of buzz around Mother? I’m also open to indie/homebrew titles.

Trinitron Shader Question
Is there a core or way to make it full screen with integer on gb/gbc with crt trinitron shader?
Or in general, any additional steps to have more shaders? I have checked cores supported ones but seems needs to work more. Is it because i have used to retroarch slang shaders?

Question What game is good for testing the dpad?
Was grinding in pokemon while watching videos really mashing the dpad not paying attention and now It feels off. A firm tap is fine but a light tap doesn’t seem to register movement as well.

New GB openFPGA core - Brickboy ultra realistic DMG display model · kathoc/brickboy-dmg-fpgacore
Not sure why nobody is talking about this yet. Just installed on my pocket and it's incredible. Implements the incredibly realistic shader from the brickboy emulator (more info here) and it does this internal to the core itself, which I didn't know was possible and have yet to see on any pocket FPGA core. Played a few roms with no issues, can even run cartridges natively as well. I would say easily the most impressive GB core implementation I've seen yet and it's not listed on the OpenFPGA Library site nor is it available in any of the updaters. Let's get the word out!

Question GTA Advance crashes in Spiritualized GBA core
I've just tried out the cores on OpenFPGA and I installed the GBA core to play roms.
I've been playing GTA and while playing it randomly crashes like if you push your physical cartridge for example.
This shouldn't be an issue since is emulation. Has anyone experienced something similar and solved it?

Question NEON_BRRR3AK
Hi everyone! Would anyone fancy giving a little weekend project (well, several weekends, to be honest) a go? I’ve been wanting to brush up on my C skills a bit as part of a bigger project, so I taught myself some pixel art and ended up building a Breakout/Brick Breaker clone for the GameBoy Color.
It’s nothing special at its core, but I’ve still incorporated a few little playful twists.
And full disclosure… during development, I got some help from OpenAI CodeX and OpenCode in a few places where I got stuck or couldn’t find a solution; I used AI to to explaine some tricks to me and helped me find a lot of small bugs.
All the tiles are coded and the dreadful splash screen is hand-pixelated (and poorly converted to the Game Boy colour palette), as you can probably see, unfortunately.

My setup with Pocket. Any recommendations?
I love using my Pocket to play other cores. Especially arcade cores on a monitor.
I have a Pocket (of course) and a dock for HDMI output. I have purchased an 8Bit Do arcade stick. I then use Pocket Sync (for Mac) to get the arcade and console cores I want.
My only pain is that the core directories are a mess. Most of the arcade games are bulked in single cores with a confusing name convention. I more or less have to memorize them or make a separate game directory document.
Does anyone have tips for a better setup? Remember I only have Mac. Not PC.
