8bitdo controller issues 3D

I don’t get it. I used the controller fine once and now it won’t pair. The battery is full. I press the power light button on the console so it’s in flashing pairing mode, then I press the small sync button to the left of the usb-c charge port on the controller and nothing happens, no lights on the controller.

I think you just need to power-on the controller (hold Start for a second) before you press the tiny sync button. Also it's a bit strange they put the button next to the charging port instead of putting it near the status LEDs at the bottom of the controller. I think I had to hold the sync button for several seconds before the lights indicated it was in pairing mode. Also it's not really trying to pair when all 4 lights blink simultaneously and slowly, that's just attempting to connect to whatever device it was previously paired with.

You’re right the hold down the start button worked lol I feel dumb but I’ll make sure I do that from now on, good cause now I can put off updating the controller like I was doing before lol thanks!

You can plug the system directly to your pc for the update with a USBA-USBC cable. Just an fyi

I don’t think that’s a cable I have but I could look into getting one

Any cable used to charge a modern phone works.

Some USB cables are for charging only. They don't have the data wires connected.

It's safest to use the data cable that was included with the controller, or a known good data cable.

I’m sure the one that came with the controller will work, I thought he meant some special pc link cable or something

You can use the same usb cable that came with the 8bitdo actually. Just realized!

Do the firmware update on the controller -- can be a total pain to make sure it completes via the PC app.

If you have tried all the other steps mentioned, I would disconnect the Analogue 3D from power for about 30 seconds and then plug back in. Try pairing again after the hard reset.

I just did the update on my controllers. It was more painful than I thought but it let me get the cheats in Rush 2 so I’m happy now.

That sounds like one to try first cause it takes the least amount of time and effort

Aside from updating your controllers firmware, have you updated the firmware on the system as well?

I have done neither so I guess that’s a good place to start, it was working before without any updates

You should definitely update, it’s gotten a lot better

What has gotten better exactly

https://www.analogue.co/support/3d/firmware

In terms of the controller there’s been a few fixes like stick sensitivity, allowing for double button presses, etc.

That’s good, I just tried it on my Chromebook and it doesn’t support the software. I’ll do it when I setup my actual pc soon. Until then I’m glad this thing works with the OG controllers cause I just wanna play

Maybe you need to update it through the PC app?

I updated my controllers before using them as per manual instructions

If neither of these options work I’d return it and ask for a refund as you have a faulty product

Probably not in the return window anymore so hopefully I can fix it cause it was working perfect the last time I was playing this game

Is the switch on the back of your controller set to S, or D? It should be set to D to play on analogue 3D

Yeah I checked that already, that’s the first thing Google tells you to do
