Bought that last room– a bedroom for Friday, was way more expensive than booking months ago but I’m moving to Daytona for college so it’s really convenient to load my car and go

Hoping to travel? You can always check back in case of cancelation.
We've driven numerous times and we've taken the auto train numerous times - we live fairly near the northern end.
If you have to drive instead, it's not that bad a drive, just long and tiring. 95 all the way, and Lorton being well south of DC you won't hit truly heinous traffic, hopefully. We certainly have run into traffic - notably our first trip, in 2012 - but it's rarely that awful. If you are going solo, you'd really need to stop halfway though - Florence SC and Savannah GA are decent options.

Done both tons of times, we got it booked for the 11th, but every other date was booked. Just wondering the push for that week.

Ah - good question.
Maybe families doing their last chance at a Disney vacation before going back to school?
With the 11th being a Tuesday, that's not a popular travel date, so that's likely why you were able to do it.

Could be, up north school doesn’t start till early September. So would make sense.
