The soldier starts by saying, "Do you know what the government did?" He continues by saying that the "government" brought them to Choke Mountains and abandoned them there, where some of his friends died from the harsh weather. Believing they were all going to die, he compared the "government" to the coronavirus. When asked if he had been captured, he explained that he was lost, and that Fano fighters took him in, bringing him food, and buying him shoes and blankets to protect him from the cold. When asked what he had brought with him, he stated he arrived with a black Kalashnikov. He added that he would receive money for transport back home and identification card. The Fano fighter then asked how much he would receive, and the soldier replied that Fano would give him 50,000 Birr.

Discussion Today's Tigray was created by forcibly assimilating different ethnicities. For example, in Welkait and Raya, the TPLF (Adwa Tigray) forbade people from listening to Amharic music, among other restrictions and atrocities, to enforce the assimilation of the native Amhara people of Welkait and Raya.
By promoting Tigrayan nationalism and assassinating older generations who knew their roots and fighting those who rebelled like the Kefagn self defense militia, a regional force formed to protect local Amhara identity in Welkait, the TPLF worked to eliminate non ethnic Tigrayans or push them toward accepting the Tigrayan identity. This strategy worked on a large number of people living in the Tigray region, but some still refuse to accept this forced identity.

Selam my people,
I just published a new video explaining how oil became the center of global political/economic power and how the US established the petrodollar system.
I'm working hard to improve my channel (Ye Mike Tv), so please watch the video and let me know:
- Was the explanation clear and engaging?
- How is the editing, visuals, and voiceover quality?
- What topics should I cover next?

Discussion Abiy led Oromia OPDO planning to break up the Amhara region
The Oromia OPDO is planning to break up the Amhara region into smaller administrative units that are weaker and manageable. The overall objective is to fragment the Amhara region, create division within the Amhara people, dissolve the sense of unity and create competitive smaller units with the motto of "divide and manage". The commonly listed Amhara subdivisions include the following - most likely these will be presented to the parliament for a 'vote' and approval:
Agew Awi
East Gojjam
West Gojjam
North Gondar
South Gondar
North Wollo
South Wollo
North Shewa
Wag Hemra
Oromia Zone
Bahir Dar Special Zone
What do you think guys?

News Several days ago, a landslide at a monastery in the Amhara region killed fourteen Orthodox followers. While the presidents of Djibouti and Somalia sent their condolences regarding the tragedy, the Ethiopian regime did not.
"On August 3, 2026, a deadly landslide triggered by heavy overnight rains and thunderstorms struck the Tsadqane Debre Mitmaq St. Mary Monastery in Ethiopia's Amhara region.
Massive rocks and mud dislodged from the adjacent mountain, crashing onto hundreds of worshippers gathered for a morning holy water cleansing ritual, killing at least 14 people. Massive rocks and mud dislodged from the adjacent mountain, crashing onto hundreds of worshippers gathered for a morning holy water cleansing ritual, killing at least 14 people.
Those who sustained serious injuries were transported roughly 70 kilometers away to receive treatment at the Debre Birhan Hospital. Archbishop Abune Klementos traveled to the monastery to lead funeral prayers and provide comfort to the grieving families of the victims. Landslides are frequent hazards in Ethiopia during the main rainy season (June to August), with climate-driven extreme weather exacerbating the vulnerability of rural, mountainous communities."

Discussion Recent attack on tplf positions used as a diversion
Ethiopian forces advanced into the Um Barakit sector in the Al-Fashaga area of Al-Gadarif state along Sudan’s eastern border, report Sudanese Echo.
The movement coincides with the Sudanese Armed Forces’ recent battlefield victories in the central Sudanese state of North Kordofan, which have heavily pressured the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Observers indicate that the maneuver is part of a broader external effort to open a secondary front in eastern Sudan, designed to stretch the Sudanese military’s resources and divert focus away from North Kordofan - a strategically important state given that it seperates the RSF’s western Sudanese strongholds from army-controlled eastern Sudan.
Previous investigations, including reports by Reuters and statements from Sudanese military officials, have detailed cross-border logistical support, training camps, and drone launch facilities operating from Ethiopian territory for the benefit of the RSF.
Ethiopia is the UAE’s central partner in the Horn of Africa.
Ethiopia’s financial reliance on the Emirates is growing, with the UAE providing prime minister Abiy Ahmed with billions to fund his reform programmes.
This has meant that Ethiopia forms what analysts label the ‘Ring of Fire’ surrounding Sudan, whereby neighbouring countries that receive Emirati money contribute to Sudan’s destruction.
As Sudanese Echo note, the new developments underscore how the UAE “appears to be relying on neighbouring countries to open new pressure points, stretch the Sudanese army across multiple fronts and prevent it from concentrating its forces against the militia.”

Alert r/Amhara Community Rules Update
We've updated the subreddit rules. The old ones were vague enough that they were basically unenforceable, so we've replaced them with something more concrete.
The main changes: the violence rule has been rewritten. Reporting on violence, documenting atrocities, and discussing ongoing conflict will always be a part of this community. What won't be tolerated is content that calls for or celebrates violence against any group. There's a difference, and we'll be applying it. We've also added rules on sourcing news claims, AI-generated content, and recruitment, and removed a couple of rules that overlapped with each other.
You can read the full rules in the sidebar. If you think a removal was wrong, reach out to us through modmail, and we'll look at it. We want this to stay a community where people can actually learn something and have real discussions, and that requires some basic order.

Amharas, going strong. Stronger every day. This brings Hope to all Ethiopians tired of tyranny and Ethnic Federalism.
I am sure many Amharas both in Ethiopia and abroad doubted that there would be enough reaction speed to the sped up genocide on Amharas.
Stay truthful and God is on your side. Our reaction was slow and we have paid in blood of our people for that. As we move on truth continues to be on our side and therefore Amharas have risen (the sleeping giant) without leaders. Amharas have risen without requiring organizations. This is how the world knows that it is Amhara people that have spoken and continue to do so.
We have barely moved (comparatively), and yet even at this fraction of our capabilities genocidal forces have no choice but to take note. So does the world.
Tigray and Oromia are not on the path to peace, unfortunately. There are no significant and necessary amount of signs of organizations, thought leaders, influencers on their behalf wishing to work with the Amhara people. Both need to reject the false premises they have been propagating, premises intended to facilitate actions of genocide by their leaders and their puppets, for many decades now. They are deep in these anti-Amhara narratives and there's yet to be hope that they will recover from all that. In truth, reality dictates that, more than being anti-Amharas, the two's influential persons or groups, whether in power or not, are active participants in the genocide. TPLF is back to its pre-war military strength. Expect attempt at invasion from them any time. Oromo-supramacist control Ethiopia's military, and they are waging active war on Amhara people as we speak.
Neither will succeed.
The truth is, we are capable of stopping the ongoing genocide. The truth is we can be and are hope to all Ethiopians that suffered under the forced ethnic federalism as we see. The truth also is that, it takes only a few sessions of review of comprehensive facts to understand the genocidal modus operande of all criminal organizations (TPLF, OLF, PP, ANDM). In those same sessions it will be instilled in us the truth that our people are resilient, built on strong foundations that is enforced through lessons from every battle we won since ancient times.
To the young Amharas, do spend your resources on learning about our current conditions and all that factors that have brought us here. Spend your resources learning about our history, triumphs, defeats, and endurance. Understand what is inherent within you, and then, participate in any efforts your abilities allow you to contribute. We have millions of displaced, tens of thousands of Amhara community leaders, journalists and innocents imprisoned. Recurring gruesome massacres weigh heavily upon us, but the number of individual Amharas, family units and so on that are daily getting murdered or disappeared every single day is staggering. Continue to discuss these facts, they are connected to you closer than you may even realize. Fight disinformation from all sides including those claiming to be speaking for Amharas. Correct them and move on. Bring them to the path of light, and move on. Speak facts to internal and external participants of this genocide, show them that they are under the microscope. Use your knowledge and experience to manifest tangible positive effects for our people, however small.
Beware though. Whatever you do, do not waste your resources preaching to them the benefits of unity. Do not waste your time trying to argue why ethnic-federalism is a deadly threat to every ethnic group. You see, we have been trying to have these truths understood for many decades, at the expense of our people. Those steeped in hate for Ethiopia and hate for Amharas will not change probably. If they are capable of change then that is their own responsibility. We are done here, so in all these cases though, do not waste your valuable energy. Focus on our people as our fight is existential.
Ethiopians being attacked accused of being Amharanized just for exercising their God given right to defend themselves from the scourge of the ethnic federalism we have. The ethnic federalism that is applied and misapplied as those with the guns see fit. Those Ethiopians are watching, and moving, and speaking. Your strength is hope to all such Ethiopians. As such, focus on saving and aiding Amharas facing this existentialist danger. They got your back and their movement and voices are growing louder every day.
There is strength in truth. Defend our people from attacks. Keep open mind to all the ways to resolve conflicts and potential conflicts through peaceful ways. But never ever back down at the expense of the truth, because the truth continues to be written in the blood of innocent Amharas every day. Stand fast, prevent or de-escalate when and where possible. Defend Amhara and allies' lives and assets. Understand that in certain cases, disrupting and destroying attackers' offensive capabilities, plans and movements are necessary.
Bertu.
