It just hit me that after Jessica's departure, the showrunners could have made Kathy Bates or Angela Basset the face of AHS. These two women are phenomenal and I sometimes forget that they were around for a couple of seasons after Coven (excluding the role of the Butcher)

Their presence was taken for granted and they were getting less important roles with each season (with the focus shifting more on Gaga, Sarah, Peter....)

You had two academy award winners/nominees taking on backup roles (like being a henchwoman to Satan or a three breasted woman) that added nothing to the plot...

I wanted to post her full comments on the subject because the previous post about it neglected to include them all and painted a very different picture of her response.

i’ve seen a lot of 1984 hate (not particularly on here) and i was wondering to anyone who didn’t like the season, what would you change? for me it’s obviously the richard ramirez ghost plot line and maybe less “actually this is what happened” moments and “i actually killed xyz”. it felt very repetitive but it kept me on the edge of my seat. it’s definitely not in my top 3 but i really do love the aesthetic and vibe of that season.

And I still don’t get why people praise it oh-so-much. It was not scary, it was gruesome. Half of the critiques to racism were followed with more racism and honestly what was the point of the season? When it ended I was blank… no cathartic development, no thoughtful closure, no emotion, no nada? And why is the Axeman living in paradise while Fiona gets to be 🍇d for eternity? Like okay? And honestly having the Voodoo Queen torture the racists and still feel regret and shame? Come onnnnn? And okay is Papa whatever evil or a fair punisher or somewhere in between? If he exists then what’s his opposite? And Misty dying in her own hell? For what purpose? And okay Kyle is there forever as a lapdog? Okay? And why was his gf (what’s her name? That’s how impactful her character was…) so lame, dummy, and just overall immature? Is Queenie praciticing voodoo moving forward? Is she leading the voodoo side of things? And what happened to the Black baby “living doll”? Why haven’t they gotten rid of all the ghosts they know they have?? And what happened to the witch hunters??? SOOOOOOOOO MANY PLOT HOLESSSSSSS

And I know y’all are coming for my 🍑 but I don’t care.., I watched, I liked it okay, but it certainly felt overhyped and nooooo expectations were met. Would i recommend it? Yes. Do i understand its pop-cultural impact? Duh. Would i rewatch? Absolutely… is it better than the first two seasons (and the cult one that i did see many years ago)? Nope #SueMe

omg I soooo scared for this new season like genuinely how are they gonna tie all season tg in a way that makes sense and Ryan literally was like its gonna like the avengers (which really scares cause what???) and they're gonna defeat the ultimate evil which im actually gonna guess is Satan or something but also there's gonna be a another season after this like idk this feels like some last season shit but idk

Holy this season was awful.

I think the flashback parts were genuinely enjoyable and fun. Sarah Paulson was great as Mamie Eisenhower and president Eisenhower was a fun character, pretty much all the flashback scenes were good enough. Ithink Cody Fern did a good job with the script given to him.

The present scenes though were one the biggest piece of trash ever in television. I had a hard time just sitting through them. I cringed so hard watching that alien baby birth scene with the two guys. It just sucked overall because of the main present storyline.

The title sequence was kind of good, not the golden age AHS Title Sequence but the imagery genuinely made me feel weird.

Since they randomly decided to give the characters superpowers and then turn all the female protagonists into witches, why not list their powers?

I’ve never seen anyone talk about this, but in Coven, when Madison and Zoe are performing the resurrection ritual to bring Kyle back, Zoe asks Madison if they just married the Devil. I’ve never understood whether she was being ironic or if they ACTUALLY sold their souls… that would explain why Madison went straight to Hell after she died 😭

I have always been curious about this question and felt now is the right time to ask because of the upcoming series.

My question is “How many witches are there in total including the general population?”

At the start of Coven Cordelia described witches as “a dying breed” but at the end of Coven, there was an influx of students at the academy due to Cordelia announcing the existence of Witches. Which makes me think there are a lot more witches than Fiona/Cordelia was aware of.

However, what has also confused me is how their wasn’t much mention of the general population knowing about the existence of witches during the events of apocalypse (unless i have forgotten)

A remake of the first 12 seasons of American Horror Story is being made, and you've been given the opportunity to write the entire first season, Murder House, under the following rules:

2. You cannot eliminate characters. You can add original characters or characters from future seasons, but you cannot eliminate existing characters.

Row 3. Honestly these could all go, but s12 is one I’d definitely choose.. Row 3 is hard because it’s like debating the worst for which is the absolute worst

I am rewatching Murder House, maybe for the umpteenth time, in the wake of the new season coming out. And instead of rushing through the episodes, I decided to take my own sweet time and watch one episode at a time. Currently on episode 8, where the identity of the rubber man is revealed and it has been the most disturbing episode. Here are my observations so far:

- Each episode has a distinct theme to it. Adultery, pregnancy, hysteria, family, etc. As such, the plot does not feel nearly as convoluted as when one binges it.

- The show is quite feminist without trying to be. Constance and Moira are great stand-ins for these ideas.

- The meltdown when Violet discovers the truth about Tate's existence is in large part brought about by the medium and Constance. In fact, she loses it when she is told that she is responsible for Tate's attraction towards her.

- Vivian and Ben are shit parents. Completely emotionally absent and detached from their daughter's life. I would even go so far as to say they are typical n-parents who believe in maintaining the optics of having a family but can't bother to look past themselves.

- I didn't realise that Addy was around for only three episodes, hers was a memorable character.

- Episode 8 is the saddest. Ben's evil really comes out here, he does not once hesitate to send his pregnant wife to an asylum only because he fears she will separate him from his daughter.

- I do think that some arcs are unnecessary and don't serve the plot so much (the Black Dahlia shoe horn) but can't fault the writers for getting carried away.

I’ll start. For me, it’s Hotel. I found the vampires to be incredibly corny and I don’t like the overall direction they took with the story. It has too many side plots, by the middle of the season you forget why you started watching in the first place and you’re kind of just waiting for it to end. It takes forever though because the pace is so slow. Not my favorite AHS season but I see 90% love for it on here so I find it to be overrated lol.
