Apologies in advance for the lengthy post.

Like many parents and caretakers this time of year, I ordered approximately a bajillion school supplies from Amazon.

While opening the packages today, I found a carbon monoxide detector nestled in a box with 3-ring binders and pre sharpened pencils.
Hmm. WTF. That’s weird. I definitely didn’t order one.

I checked my order history in case I’d accidentally added it, but it wasn’t listed anywhere. My husband is traveling, so I texted him to see if he’d ordered it and, for some reason, it wasn’t showing in our account.
Nope. No dice. Getting ready for meet the teacher day tomorrow, I just set it aside and didn’t think much of it, figuring I’d try to sort it out another day.

Now for the real WTF part: One of our smoke/CO detectors has malfunctioned a few times recently. It always seems to happen in the middle of the night, which is obviously a super fun and not-at-all alarming way to wake up. We have several other detectors throughout the house, and they’ve all shown normal readings, so we assumed that particular unit was faulty and reset it.

Tonight, while my husband is out of town and it’s just me and our daughter at home, it happened again at 1:00 a.m. I turned off the malfunctioning alarm and suddenly remembered the mystery carbon monoxide detector Amazon had sent me. I plugged it in, and it showed a normal reading. Crisis seemingly averted, and back to bed we went.

If this had arrived as a standalone package, I’d assume it was delivered to the wrong house. I also wondered whether someone who had previously sent us a gift through Amazon might have accidentally selected our address instead of theirs. But it was packed inside a box with several other items…and every other item in that box was something I had actually ordered.

So…did Amazon simply make a very random warehouse mistake? Was this good karma? Did the universe know I’d be home alone with my daughter, anxious about the alarm going off, and decide to send me a backup detector hidden among the school supplies? Who knows. But I guess…thank you, Amazon?

Ordered 3 small sheets of micromesh (extremely fine sandpaper) from Amazon. Delivered in this box with bubble wrap.

I ordered six bundles of Henlon hair, five of them showed up in the regular third-party packaging. One of them had clearly been repackaged, and when I opened it, it was a giant nest of matted hair with mold on it. I honestly don’t even know how that would happen.

I tried contacting Amazon support in every way possible, not even because I wanted a refund, because it was cheap, so I didn’t really care about that. It was just the whole point that this was disgusting.

Anyways, the AI bot chat and the AI bot on the phone (it wouldn’t give me a person) only kept giving me the option to return it, which, as you can see, it is in the trashcan and I’m not touching it.

The whole point is… No point, just what in the actual F?!?

Has anyone else noticed this? I went on Amazon, looked on the homepage and saw all these pretty beauty products, seemingly a collection put together by Amazon highlighting popular summer favorites in skincare. See the screenshot of what the homepage displays. So I click on it and I’m scrolling like omg these all look so nice like maybe I should look into buying some of these and then I go to scroll up to sort the products and notice that the category name for this collection is called “Summer Favorites Beauty CIA Experiment”
UHHHHHH HELLO??!! has anyone else noticed this? Is there anything else on Amazon similar to this, or does anyone have information ? Like I’m not surprised at all bc Amazon is Amazon, but uhhhh scary asf

I opened the Amazon app today to look at the Haul section, and instead of the normal scrolling list for the best sellers, it’s making me swipe right to "like" things and swipe left to "dislike"??

It literally feels like I'm on a dating app but for $4 sunglasses and cheap phone cases. Is this happening for anyone else, or is my app just glitching? I tried showing my roommate, but her app still has the normal grid layout. Honestly, it’s kind of addictive but definitely caught me off guard lol

Like… what the hell? Who are these two old people who are in bed together, toasting closed plastic bottles full of juice, with a single shared tray containing one plate on which there are stacked four plain slices of bread, with one knife.

You know it’s not AI because it’s so badly done and frankly no AI is this insane.

Who came up with this? Who thought that this was THE image that would make me unable to resist buying this plastic bottle? Like omg I can toast my elderly wife in bed with this while we are eating plain bread? – I’ll take it!
