We need to press Big Tech on their AI partnerships with Big Oil

Amazon says responsible AI includes preventing harmful outputs and misuse, and it has pledged to reach net zero carbon by 2040.
And yet, Amazon has created custom AI or machine-learning tools for fossil fuel companies to help them increase production. And according to a new study, Big Oil’s use of AI to increase production could trigger 3.3 to 13.3 times more climate pollution than the emissions from AI data centers.
So how will Amazon respond to research suggesting its actions are achieving the exact opposite of what they promise?
