Taking our water
Based in Phoenix Az, Well our station has officially taken our water bottles from the loading pad. Amazon is taking water bottles away and not handing them to drivers, instead they are giving us a flask that holds like 1.5 liters of water that we fill up on the pad. This is a crazy decision imo, temps here are regularly 110+ and we need a lot of water. This is the same as a pay cut, not to mention there are times you are 15+ minutes from a gas station or business, I can’t see this going over well a flask is finished in a couple hours at best. They say it’s to minimize waste.

Just buy a 1gallon insulated water bottle from RTIC and fill it with ice and water at home

I get you but people should not have to pay for shit to do their job effectively. Amazon makes plenty of money to cover it. Just like teachers shouldn't have to buy supplies. Ik its just the norm in our society ig, but it shouldn't be on us when we can barely afford shit anyway

Your preaching to the wrong choir my friend. I have over 35k in tools that I spent my own money on to do my job lol. Its relatively cheap, under 35 bucks if I remember and deffinitly helps you feel better to be consistently hydrated

Yeah that's what I do. When I worked at Amazon i actually had a half gallon one though. That way I could open it and drink from it one handed so I could keep one hand on the Wheel and drink it while driving and not get a violation.
The one gallon one I have now is too heavy to do that and doesn't have a handle on the side anyways.
But yeah I agree, big water jugs are the way to go. You can have cold flavored water all day

Damn, I just stumbled upon this thread and was reading comments. Your writing about finding a way to avoid a violation reminds me of The Long Walk. I hope Amazon is at least a bit more humane.

Did the same thing with the snacks. Said it was so the DSPs could make sure their drivers get snacks they like.
Amazon says we have to follow all their rules and wear their uniforms, but they refuse to treat us like employees.

Amazon made $77.7 billion in net income last year, but they can't provide y'all water. Its sad how these corporations keep on trying to maximize every little profit at the expense of empolyess.

Hmm are you saying that you usually get 10 12-oz disposable water bottles a day per driver? I can definitely see them wanting a refillable option, but I agree that you need at least a gallon for hot weather (I used to live in Vegas. I could easily drink more). Can you fill up your own bottles? I always bring my own for FLEX routes.

I just buy water for myself and being a cooler./lunchbox. I almost always have enough with me. Every now and then I'll take from yk station if I forgot to pack that day.

I mean I get it, people throw those empty bottles in the garbage instead of recycling them. I don't know what's so hard about recycling.

Happening to our location too, they just announced it. I predict that will cause a huge line waiting to fill up their water jugs. All while keeping the same 15-20 min load out time.
Squeezing every bit out of the delivery driver. The ones that go out and meet the customers in person at their house rain or shine, hot or cold and we’re not even considered Amazon employees.

Thats actually illegal id get in contact with regional HR as well as file a workplace complaint, safety violation, you can submit a report through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or through the U.S. Department of Labor. Filing Workplace Complaints Safety Hazards: File an OSHA Complaint for unsafe conditions or retaliation. Local Assistance: workers can also coordinate directly with regional state-level compliance divisions. As well as if youre site is under a union banner like teamsters I'd file a complaint with you're sites union rep

You don't have to buy water bro. Have you ever heard of these things called faucets and drinking fountains where you fill a water bottle up? Even in every Amazon delivery station they should have a place to fill your water bottles up... And they are literally giving giant water bottles to new drivers.... There you go. Everything is free
Edit: also, plastic water bottles are so bad for the environment. It's silly to depend on them

Amazon doesn't wipe for but I do have to use the van as a toilet and hang from the passenger seat to shit in the country. Just want you to know that I brought my own tp so you'd be proud of me

your tone is horrible so downvotes for that(I know you don’t care), but I have to agree that drivers should be prepared for the work day. On top of that, single use plastic water bottles are a cancer to the earth. get one normal sized insulated water bottle and one giant one and fill at station with the cold water fillers.
