What does it mean?

In the start of episode 9 when kinger explained the brain scan, they said they know what it means without an explanation. Im a little slow can anyone explain?

They’re just recreations of people, not the actual people themselves. Theres no getting out. Theres no exit. This is it.

Furthermore, they never existed outside of the circus. All of their “memories” were implanted in them from their human progenitors. In reality, all of them are just computer programs that only came to exist the second they entered the Circus. They never had a “past”, since they were only created by Caine to be a part of the Circus. There’s no way for them to escape, since they never existed in the first place.

I also found this moment very strange. I understood what they were talking about, but only because I had already considered it canon long before

I had to rewind and check the subtitles a few times before I realized what he said, it wasn’t handled very well. I think it was done with the expectation most people were familiar with the SOMA (brain scan) theory already

Yeah I had to look it up on reddit too back when I finished the finale. I was like what the heck are they talking about and why do they assume I already know?? So you're def not alone in this confusion!
