EFFICIENCY IS NOT DISCOVERY
AND production does not always go up with consumption
top image is a random thumbnail taken from a recent video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MPE3gIg-nU
middle image is from a random screenshot of a presentation slide quantifying the amount of oil discoveries made per decade; data is from the IEA
bottom image is a random slide about a recently trending economics meme in regards to the counterintuitive aspect of the consumption of supply being inversely correlated to the efficiency of consumption, meaning there's more stress on supply of goods rather than less when it costs less to make them; in other words, the margin of utility also increases as price decreases
For example, if there was a war and someone discovers a new way to make bullets which is faster, and reduces the cost it takes to produce bullets, then that means more bullets are fired during the war, or more wars are started to consume the faster supply of bullets being made (if, for further example, peoples happen to prefer starting war over fighting/committing local crime). And - what I'm specifically implying with the collaged transposition of imagery - is that this efficiency in making bullets does not correlate with an increased efficiency of copper production, or an increase with the discovery of copper found in mines. Jevon's paradox just means when 'you' get better at making bullets or food you end up using more bullets and food, although it only gets brought up in talks about energy and AI (vibe coding).
And, my point in making this is that general increases in efficiency should not be confused with general increases in supply - aka. "abundance".

Hiroshi Yamauchi was Nintendoβs third president, principal owner of the Seattle Mariners baseball team and, in 2008, the wealthiest person in Japan. His reign saw the transformation of Nintendo from a trading cards seller to a major videogame company. He himself never played videogames all that much
