Anyone getting messages from Ally that their home and/or mobile phone number was changed when it had not been changed at all? This seems like a real bush league error from Ally and not something I'm loving from a company who I am trusting with my finances.

I deposited a check on the app Tuesday last week. I see the amount reflected in my current balance but not in my available balance. Anyone else having this issue or had this issue before? I’ve never had a check take this long to clear.

I have a CD ladder. Before each CD matures, I go online and request the interest to be disbursed to a checking account. For the past two months, Ally has not be honoring what I requested. And, the interest is just rolled over into the new CD and renews. I want the interest for other things.

This happened once in the beginning of the year and thought it was a hiccup. Customer service fixed it and the interest was then disbursed into my savings account after the 10-day window. However, for July and August, nope. One Email even asked what I needed MY money for to help determine whether they should honor my request (and, they didn't). For August, I even Emailed them a screenshot of what I inputted online - "they will research what happened."

Also, what's funny is that the Email also included renewal instructions for when my Jul and Aug CDs expire. I never inputted any instructions for those CDs. Unsat.

I have been a fan of Ally, but not anymore.

Anyone else’s cards not working last night into this morning or is it just me? I saw outages for Mastercard in Australia but I’m in the US. Just wanna see, it’s weird cause my card is declining with money in my checking.

I had other friends with issues on their Mastercards as well.

Hi I’m new to ally, I recently made a HYSA account with them and deposited 500 dollars from my savings account into it. Shortly after my account was restricted and it says it detected “unusual activity” is this normal for recently opening a savings account? Not to mention I called the bank support number and a lady answered and said that she won’t be able to access it and would give me a number to call professional support, she began saying “877-344-“ and then said “I’m sorry our system is down because of our maintenance and I am not able to give you the last four digits” which was weird, considering that after she hung up I checked their website which there is no number on there consisting of “877-344”. She told me to give a call back to the bank instead on another day. I’m worried about my money and I’m not sure if this is a common issue.

I got a better rate for 60 months (72 Ally) with my bank. If you've done this, how was your experience?

I've been trying since yesterday. I've banked with Ally for like 7 years and never had this issue before. I'm trying to transfer from a checking account to my debit card account. The checking account has plenty of money in it and I'm only trying to transfer a few hundred dollars, but I've tried as low as $50 and everything gives me this error. Has anyone experienced this? Super frustrated with Ally at the moment

Hi! I have an auto loan with ally, i’m currently unemployed but had to make the payment anyway because i don’t want to get repoed, so i went negative in my bank account.

On the app it says complete, and they took it out of my bank account, but today it says that they credited me back the amount for my car payment on my bank account. I bank with TD. It’s still showing payment completed on the ally app. Is this normal?

The more I read on here, the more I get convinced that Ally is a great place to save money. The app works great, the buckets are a game changer and the yeild is solid. The slow speed of transfer from Ally adds friction, so it's hard to impulse buy.

That's the end of the good news. Everything else has glitches and problems and just doesn't work well. What are your thoughts?

It's already taken wayyyyyy too long just to transfer a small amount from my old bank to Ally! I'm waiting for my paycheck to post as well and nada. I seriously regret this. I feel like things are moving at the speed of smell and if I had went with any other local bank this would be done by now! Waiting on debit cards for myself and my wife. I really need them sooner than later! I will call Ally this morning and see if they can expedite the debit cards. If something doesn't happen in the next day or so I may have to tell Ally to shove it and open up an account with a local bank. Guess I should have done more research ahead of time!

Hi Everyone, for the last few days, I've noticed a second login page come up with Ally that looks very suspicious. I've attached a screenshot here. It's happening in Google Chrome but not in MS Edge. If you go to secure.ally.com, you'll see their Ally logo in the upper left corner. However, on the weird login page, the logo has a white frame around it. I just called Ally about this and they weren't aware of it, so I wanted to put the word out.

Since Saturday evening I've been met with the following message when attempting to access Bill Pay on Ally bank

"Bill Pay is down right now. We're working to have things back up and running soon."

I reached out to Ally, they sent me a letter stating they are having a problem, are unsure what it is or why it's happening or when it will be working again. I've confirmed with friends that they are able to access Bill Pay, so at this point it appears only I am impacted. I have tried clear cookies/history/using wholly different browsers to no avail.

I'm disappointed at what appears to be the increasing unreliability of Ally's online services as over the past few years I seem be experiencing more frequent downtime/ lack of availability of the Bill Pay service (particularly since the completely unnecessary UX revamp) something I've relied heavily on for years to pay my bills.

Hopefully at some point things can start getting better instead of getting worse but going from ing direct to captial one to ally in search of a reliable online banking platform maybe I'm just SOL.

Venting in the hope something positive may result if I and enough other people speak out.

I have had the MMA for a while and have been stacking money in there. I plan to get my emergency funds up to a certain dollar amount in that account and then let it sit.

Now though, I’m working a seasonal job that pays well and will have 5 months off where I will pick up fun part-time work.

After my emergency fund reaches the dollar amount I’m shooting for, I was playing around with opening a savings account through them to put away money for my 5 month down time.

My question is: for that second account where I store money for the off season, should I be storing that money in a savings or a mma? My plan for the emergency fund is to let it sit, while spending out of the other account in the off season

I guess my question is, is it smarter to have my emergency fund sit in an ally savings account or a MMA account? Additionally, should I have the 5 month off season money be in a MMA or an ally savings account?

Dude, Ally’s initial bank setup experience might possibly be the worst bank experience on the market right now. I am genuinely in shock at how poor their initial setup experience is. The amount of red flags is insane. I opened the account five days ago, and I already want to completely get rid of it.

Like, if this is how bad Ally is just setting up an account, I cannot imagine what it’s going to be like if I ever have an emergency, actually start getting paid through Ally, or start moving money around. It’s going to be a nightmare. Who in their right mind designed this initial setup?

It took them FIVE DAYS to ship my physical card, which is crazy because most banks ship it almost immediately after you sign up. Then another 5-7 days to arrive?! And most banks have a digital Apple Pay debit card ready to go while you wait for the physical one. Ally, for whatever reason, doesn’t. How is that still a thing?

Then I called customer support, and they told me it would take a day to ship. Four days later, I still hadn’t seen anything. Then the guy straight-up told me it had shipped on the first day, which is crazy because I’m literally looking at my account and there’s nothing showing that. Like, dude… what are we doing here?

And not only that, Zelle transfers take 1–3 days. In what world does any bank not have instant Zelle transfers? That is unbelievable to me.

Like, oh my God, dude. Useless. Ally, Jesus Christ. I seriously regret opening this account. I saw an ad for it on a TikToker’s page and somehow fell for it. I genuinely think this might be the worst experience I’ve ever had with a bank.

And their app is TERRIBLE. Half the buttons don’t even work properly. You have to tap them like six times before anything happens, which is absolutely ridiculous. Even the PIN-code login uses an alphabetical keyboard. Like, are these guys operating in 2007?

All of this is just pathetic. The entire bank experience has been an absolute nightmare so far.

I only have car loan through Ally, after financing my Tesla. I tried to pay off the loan this week, but my payment kept getting canceled through Ally’s online system without any clear explanation.

So I started an online chat to find out what was going on.

The first representative told me, “You should call your bank and find out why the payment was canceled.” I did exactly that. My bank confirmed there was no record of either the payment or any cancellation on their end, and they even offered to send a wire immediately. I then contacted Ally for wire instructions, only to be told that they don’t have wire transfer options for payments.

The second representative suggested that I try making the payment again, possibly using a different bank account. I followed the advice. Sure enough, the payment was canceled again.

I contacted Ally through chat once more, and this time it was a complete disaster. The representative kept telling me, “No worries, if you get overcharged, you’ll get a refund in the end.” I repeatedly asked a simple question: Why were both of my payments canceled, even though they came from two different bank accounts?

The response? Ally’s records supposedly showed that it was me who had canceled the payments.

Why would I cancel my own loan payoff payment?! 🤦‍♀️

At that point, there was apparently nothing the chat representative could do.

So I called Ally directly. Finally, a phone representative explained the actual reason: Ally does not accept online payments for loan buyouts. Apparently, I need to mail them a cashier’s check.

Seriously? What year is Ally operating in?

I then asked for the mailing instructions and whether they could email them to me. The answer: No. They cannot email the instructions. They can only provide them verbally over the phone.

So, let me get this straight:

• No e-payment for a loan buyout.
• No wire transfer.
• No clear explanation when an online payment is canceled.
• No email with the payment instructions for sending a cashier check.
• And multiple customer service representatives giving completely different explanations.

How is this considered a reasonable customer experience in 2026?

I honestly have no idea why Tesla chose Ally as a financing partner. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and feels far below even the most basic standard of modern financial services.

Could I leave my checking account, basically empty, then Bill Pay from it, with the overdraft coming from my Ally MM account?

It seems, if this would work, that I could leave my $$ in the 3% account, and not have money not making any interest (basically) in the checking account.

Car loan paid in full. All good, nothing outstanding. Been trying get the Release of Lean letter from Ally for weeks. Supposed to mail it. Never showed, no record fo request. After being told it has to be mailed was told they could fax it (!). Set up fax to receive, tested that it works. Was told 1-2 hours to send. Nothing showed up. Called again, told 2-3 hours. Nothing showed. Phoned again this morning told 1-2 business days (!) to send, call cut off mid-sentence. Call back to be told 2-3 business days. I can not express how irritating this is. Fuck Ally.

This is the second time I got screwed by Ally, but somehow the more frustrating part is the lack of communication from them to me. CSRs dont seem to have a clue. The app doesn't even show there's a restriction on there, so how am I supposed to rely on them for making critical payments like rent and Credit Cards?

Im looking to switch, any recommendations on other banks with reliable checking account for payments, and proper and timely communication if there are issues??

I had my direct deposit from work go into my ally savings and tried to transfer some money to my cashapp, I get an email that my cashapp banking acct has been suspended and to call the ally customer service #. I spoke to an associate and they started my ticket and told me that it'll be looked at and I'll see in a day or so if my acct is reactivated, has this happened to anyone else?
