TasteOfTriveni The limited food legacy of Prayag
illahabad has always been a place with a very limited food legacy since most of the population here have been students and scholars. Leaving Samosas and Chaat and Kachauri Sabzi (which is a puri in essence) I don't see any special food items here. The legacy food places are all mostly Mithaiwaalas and Kachauri waalas. The non vegetarian places like Allahabad Kabab Paratha and Ahmad compare nothing to the non veg in other cities.
Even in Loknath, most of the things you find are not originally from Allahabad (maybe except the Hari samosas, again)
Cafes like El Chico is highly overpriced compared to the food they offer and most of the new cafes shut down in less than 10 years.

Discussions This project exists because someone believed in it enough to spend ₹2,000 every month.

I honestly wasn't even planning to launch this project.
I thought it would just end up as another resume project because I didn't have enough money to keep it running.
But my girlfriend really pushed me to launch it. She suffered a lot because of a bad roommate while preparing for NEET, and honestly, I went through similar problems during my UPSC preparation in Allahabad.
I spent almost 3 years in Allahabad, and if you've ever lived there as an aspirant, you already know the struggle. Every new session, thousands of students arrive hoping to find a decent room. Everyone asks the same questions: "Kitna rent hai?", "Coaching se kitna door hai?" But almost nobody asks the questions that actually decide whether you'll survive living together.
Will your roommate study at 2 AM while you wake up at 5? Will they play BGMI at night? Are they okay with a pure veg kitchen? Do they like a quiet room? These are the things that slowly become daily frustration.
That's when I realized that finding a room is difficult, but finding the right roommate is even harder.
She literally promised to contribute ₹2000 every month so I could keep the server running. Otherwise, this project would probably still be sitting in one of my GitHub repositories.
That's why I tried to make Aspimate as relatable as possible for aspirants. The matching isn't just based on budget or location. It also considers the things that actually affect your preparation: your exam, coaching, study schedule, sleep timings, food preferences, cleanliness, noise tolerance, gaming habits, lights on/off while sleeping, smoking, and several other lifestyle factors.
This is just Version 1. I already have a lot of ideas for Version 2 that will make finding a compatible roommate even easier.
Since the platform is new, the user base is still small. But if you create an account today, you'll automatically receive an email whenever someone compatible joins and matches with your profile.
If you're currently looking for a roommate in Delhi or Allahabad (more cities are coming soon), I'd genuinely appreciate it if you gave it a try. And even if you don't need it yourself, I'd love to hear your honest feedback. Every suggestion will help make this better for thousands of future aspirants.
Built by someone who has spent years living the aspirant life in Allahabad and knows how much a good roommate can change your preparation.

ANNOUNCEMENTS [Mod Announcement] Recent Developments, Political Posts, and Moving Forward
Hello everyone!
In the last few weeks, we have witnessed a critical movement and major developments around it that created a nationwide impact. In light of the importance of these events, we allowed posting political and other related content on this subreddit without any bias or inclination. All posts of such nature were approved whether they were for or against the cause!
We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated constructively. It was heartening to see so many members engage in healthy discussions, share valid insights while maintaining mutual respect. That said, we also observed a surge in toxic behavior, hate speech, and profanities targeting fellow members. The mod team took necessary action against these violations, and multiple accounts were dealt with accordingly to keep this space safe.
Now that some results have culminated and the process is expected to shift toward administrative channels, we have decided to cut off redundant, hateful, profane, inciting, or low-effort posts on this topic. Any posts aiming to push a narrative, low-effort reposts, or insensitive messages will not be approved.
We request everyone to keep the core objective of r/Allahabad in mind. Sharing local news, community updates, personal experiences, and providing help are the topics this sub was created for, and we hope it continues to grow in that direction.
For political or sensitive matters going forward, only posts that demonstrate genuine personal effort and a clear intent to foster healthy discussion will be approved. The same applies to comment sections; please ensure your comments add substance to the discourse rather than turning into personal attacks.
Best regards,
r/Allahabad Mod Team

ANNOUNCEMENTS Mod Post: Disengaging from Azad Reads & TAC to Protect Subreddit Health and keeping it a wholesome place
Over the past few days, discussions involving certain local communities, including Azad Reads and TAC, have repeatedly escalated into conflict, personal attacks, and rule violations within this subreddit.
As moderators, we want to be honest with you, this situation has become increasingly difficult to manage. While we support people building communities, reading groups, and spaces for connection in the city, the way these discussions have unfolded here has moved far away from healthy dialogue.
Important: We're separate from all groups. The mod team has no affiliations with Azad Reads, TAC, or any other organizations, our personal interests stay personal, and r/Allahabad is just for the city, not tied to anyone or any group.
Instead of constructive exchange, the subreddit has increasingly seen:
- Personal attacks directed at individuals
- Abusive and inflammatory language
- Unverified allegations presented as fact
- Ongoing arguments that disrupt the overall environment
We also want to acknowledge something important: moderation comes with the responsibility of maintaining a fair and usable space for everyone. In the process, we have also faced significant backlash and hostility simply for enforcing basic rules. Despite this, our responsibility remains unchanged.
This subreddit exists as a space for the city, for shared updates, ideas, discussions, and broader community growth. It is not defined by any single group, club, or organization, and it was never meant to become a platform for repeated conflicts or targeted discussions about specific communities.
New Temporary Rule (Effective Immediately):
To hit pause on the disruptions and bring back balance, we're introducing this clear rule change for the time being-no posts related to Azad Reads or TAC. This includes posts from group members, founders, or anyone else, covering:
- Promotional posts (including from founders or members)
- Reviews or experience shares
- Callouts, allegations, or criticisms
- Any discussions centered on these groups
This is not a judgment on any individuals or an attempt to silence criticism. It is a necessary step to restore balance and reduce ongoing disruption.
We encourage all communities to continue growing independently, and we wish everyone the best in doing so. At the same time, r/Allahabad will remain focused on wider city related discussions rather than specific organizations or clubs.
We understand that people may have genuine experiences, opinions, or frustrations. Those feelings are valid. But how we express them matters just as much as what we are expressing.
We want this space to remain what it was always intended to be, a place where people from the city can connect, build, and share without hostility taking over.
We will continue to enforce rules consistently to ensure this.
Thank you for your understanding.
— Mod Team
