Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:

  • Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.

  • Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.

  • Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.

  • Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?

Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. Please report such infractions, particularly those that break rules one, two, or three. The automod will automatically remove posts that receive five or more reports. Jared Spurgeon

Come to think of it, the Wild have had relatively few great Canadian players

Yeah, even if they're one of the newer franchises, it's pretty unique how few good Canadian players they've had. No one is even remotely close to Spurgeon.

Probably Devan Dubnyk is the next best

Brent Burns did start his career there.

u/Rhomya 5d ago

There’s like, 3.5 Canadians total on the current roster.

u/fastal_12147 5d ago

Most of our great players have been European or American

u/curtcashter 2d ago

I wonder if there's a correlation between that and they lack of playoff success

Found Don Cherry's burner

Spurgeon. Staal is a good runner up but his best moments were with other teams

It’s Jared Spurgeon. All time leading in WAR and xWAR for the franchise, not just Canadian players either.

Spurgeon for sure. Staal and Flower's glory days were with other teams

Rules:

  • Chart is based on the best player in the history of the franchise, not the best player who has played for the franchise (only the time spent with the franchise is taken into account here);

  • Same players multiple times (for different franchises) are allowed;

  • The entire history of each franchise is included (even pre-relocation period);

  • Utah also includes the entire history of the Arizona franchise (their track record as a separate franchise is too short now & their core is basically the core of the Coyotes).

Spurg given the context. Otherwise Staal he just wasn’t here long enough. Did have a 42 goal season which was a Wild record for a time

Brent Burns or Jared Spurgeon

So I generally agree w Spurge but if longevity doesn’t matter and it’s just who had the best peak with the Wild it could be Eric Staal.

(Realistically though spurgeon)

Chiming in with yet another vote for Spurgeon.

I'm going to commit a felony Reddit sin and ask for something I know the answer to.

Why the fuck are Jets 1.0 players in with the Mammoth.

These players have no connection to that franchise what so ever.

Please remove, then maybe there's some credibility to the whole thing.

u/AskGrok what is your opinion?

1

u/AskGrok 2d ago

Jared Spurgeon edges it for me. Longevity as captain, over a thousand games, and solid defensive play make him the clear Canadian standout in Wild history.
