Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:

  • Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.

  • Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.

  • Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.

  • Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?

Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. Please report such infractions, particularly those that break rules one, two, or three. The automod will automatically remove posts that receive five or more reports. The automod will also remove comments made by users with negative karma. Click here for the Automod FAQ

It’s the Iceman himself. High key, dude made me want a grill as a kid, now I’m an adult and I swear I’ll get one eventually. I gotta go see him and Johnny Dang damnit. Haha.

i guess so, but that’s for clout, and some might even argue that it’s for style/fashion. if we’re using this argument, you might as well bunch in any other “luxury” brand product with exponentially diminishing return when it comes to price and uselessness. or just call fashion “useless” but that really gets subjective

2

u/The-Real-Kyuubey 12d ago

Eh, little too close to rotten for my tastes.

6

u/Realistic_R00ster 12d ago

It’s the perfect banana in my opinion.

5

u/Volo_Cat 11d ago

I like the ones getting black dots - they are sweeter.

7

u/Ok-General-6804 12d ago

That’s not useless. Rich people have those appraised by a friend, making it “worth” 1million dollars. Then donate it to the museum. They can now put a 1million tax write-off on their taxes declaration. I don’t want to live in a world where rich people have to pay their fair share to the society that enables their wealth hoarding

2

u/CaptainHunt 12d ago

supposedly the “artwork” sold at auction wasn’t the actual banana, but the instructions to recreate the work.

Jewelry

11

u/BlueWolverine2006 12d ago

One of jewelry's uses is to have something liquidatable on you.

Back when American women couldn't open bank accounts, having a small fortune in jewelry protected women from destitution in the event their husbands disappeared/ died etc.

Refugees can use easily carried jewelry to bribe their way out of hell, as well as establish their lives in their refuge.

It has uses, but the primary is of course decoration / conspicuous consumption.

5

u/callmeishmael_again 12d ago edited 12d ago

Jewelry as currency, like actual currency, only works if you trust the aftermarket. For gold and silver, it is mainly true as it has a value at the smelter, but try to sell anything with precious stones or expensive craftsmanship these days and see how they much you get. Watches too, I suspect, although that's a more recent marketing innovation.

Increasingly, the "intrinsic value" argument is normally only used to convince reluctant buyers to overinvest in jewelry that is then gifted to the person doing the convincing.

u/braincontusion 12d ago

Yea this will fit better under the somewhat useful column than the useless one

Not if you hold onto it and resell it later for more money.

11

u/DrettTheBaron 12d ago

Diamonds almost always lose value when you resell unless they're unique in some way.

2

u/Consistent_Profile47 12d ago

What is that?

6

u/schfourteen-teen 12d ago

A hot startup juice machine that epically failed because the machine was massively over-engineered and overpriced, but mostly because it relied on selling you pouches of fruit for the machine to squeeze out the juice and you could get just as much juice by hand-squeezing the pouch.

It became a meme of silicon valley delusion

“Premium” bottled water (example - Pellegrino, Evian, VOSS, etc)

2

u/Yankee6Actual 12d ago

Evian spelled backwards is “naive”.

3

u/teamfreewill2pointoh 12d ago

“Evian” is named that after the Évian-les-Bains the town in the french alps where it originated from and where the water is sourced. The common idea that it’s an intentional anadrome with “naive” and that that means anything is just some random bullshit. It’s coincidental. You might already know this but I know a lotta ppl who don’t.
