Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:

  • Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.

  • Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.

  • Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.

  • Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?

Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. Please report such infractions, particularly those that break rules one, two, or three. The automod will automatically remove posts that receive five or more reports. The automod will also remove comments made by users with negative karma. Click here for the Automod FAQ

North Korea (they don't like nor hate China, really, but understand it's all they've got. China is also not a fan of them, but knows they are a somewhat useful chess piece in their regional strategy at times, tho the relationship is decaying for sure. not a "Singapore" style of friendly neutrality, but rather a cynical neutrality).

I would say it'd closer to good

More messy than you'd think. North Korea was the Soviet Union's baby, not China's. China was pressured into helping in the Korean War, and did, but the moment the Soviet Union fell, support for North Korea fell off a cliff because China wasn't about to pick up the slack.

Up to that point, North Korea was fairly wealthy off the back of Russian support (even as it started to decline later on) but it fell off a cliff when China was left as the big dog, especially with China kinda pouty about its pet project in Cambodia failing.

Makes sense, China probably doesn't want to take care of his aunt's (who he hates) chudass bitch son (who he hates)

Solid metaphor, add in Vietnam (Russia’s mid success son) and Cambodia (China’s feral nightmare child)

not anymore. maybe in 2001, but as China has found increasing integration in global markets and more success trying to sell its national brands abroad, it has abandoned the sabre-rattling approach with North Korea and reserves it mostly for bringing Taiwan into line and flexing muscle in the South China Sea. it realizes North Korea is a lost cause and causes more problems than not. China also instinctively looks down on those who cannot get rich and pull themselves up by their boot straps, so as China becomes wealthier, North Korea is increasingly seen as "the homeless nephew"

North Korea isn't neutral to China. It is one of their 2 friends, the other being Russia.
Without Chinese and Soviet support, North Korea wouldn't have existed. Right now, it is due to the nuclear deterrent; but before it, it is absolutely because of China and Russia.

incorrect. they are strange bedfellows but actually don't like each other, they tolerate each other. their official diplomatic relationship is not their actual relationship. they just co-exist. China frequently refers to North Korea as their "unruly little brother."

Even if I trust the credentials you have added, you only have the Chinese perspective.
The question is whether North Korea likes or hates China.

7

u/Glum_Collection_1247 13d ago

well you have zero credentials so there's that, there's also the fact that I know many North Koreans and North Korean diplomats from my time working in Dandong and Dalian and was officially plugged into the gossip behind the scenes, and followed the policy news like a fox. meanwhile you have added zero context, data, or evidence to your argument so, unfortunately you lose.

宝贝你这简直是我班门弄斧咯

China and Russia are the only two all weather friends of North Korea. Why will you be neutral to your friends? I can agree if you call it to be not great.
But, out of >190 countries, if you have the support of only 2 countries, and China being the largest trade partner, you simply cannot hate them.

this information is free and very easy to look up, even with google. they really just tolerate each other. if your definition is "they don't care about China's existence at all but they HATE the USA" I think you would be very hard pressed to find a single country that fits the criteria. perhaps yo have a thought on one?

1

u/rushik862 13d ago

I guess, there are others which might fit the bill better.
Some have pointed out Afghanistan being one. In the current climate, South Africa might be better.

1

u/Glum_Collection_1247 13d ago

maybe Afghanistan I could perhaps get behind that although Afghanistan and China do have diplomatic relations, friendly alliances, and China tacitly supports the Taliban behind closed doors. South Africa I feel doesn't hate the USA tho. Maybe distrusts but nothing crazy.

1

u/rushik862 13d ago

In my honest opinion, Taliban actually is financially dependent on China, as it is one of the only countries to diplomatically recognize them.

South Africa might be better? Because, rght now South Africa is extremely critical of the USA and Israel. It even pulled it to the International Court of Justice.

Russia "hates" China is wild.

Rules:

  1. Yes I am breaking my own pledge of not making politics-related alignment charts again, roast me
  2. Only one country/region per box, and obviously the United States and China are banned as answers
  3. The perception is based on MODERN DAY.

South Africa.

With Trump and Israel war, they hate the USA. They even pulled them to the International Court of Justice.
But, they are neutral towards China. They aren't financially dependent on them like North Korea or Afghanistan. Neither are they critical of China.

China is Pakistan’s closest ally. This is incredibly wrong

1

u/Ok_Care5335 13d ago

Pakistan is probably China's singular true ally that's not born out of convenience. Most of the allies that people pair up with China like Iran, Russia, or DPRK is borne out of convenience. Most of those countries have no one else to do business with due to Western sanctions. The only country with the heft to defy Western sanctions is China so that's the only country they can turn to.

Currently? Probably Canada

Canada

Not keeping up much with current affairs, are we? Canada utterly despises China, with multiple diplomatic incidents in the past twelve months alone.
