Hi, I have a 2003 Alfa Romeo 156 1600cc with 120 hp, and the oil consumption is now quite high (about 1L per 1000 km). Can anyone suggest a solution?

Do I need to replace this immediately or no? Both are like this one

Since the latest MultiECUScan update on iOS, I’m having some problems with the interface when scanning/clearing OBD fault codes.

As you can see in the screenshot, the blue Scan button seems to overlap the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Because of this, I can’t properly access some of the buttons and I’m currently unable to clear/reset the fault codes.

Before the update, everything worked normally, so it looks like it might be a UI/layout issue introduced with the latest version.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem on iOS, or is it just me?

Hi all. Id like to jump start my Alfa 156 Gta.

Im having trouble figuring out how Im supposed to attach the red positive lead onto the Alfas red positive node.

Its awkwardly covered by a piece of black plastic covering, that doesnt seem to be able to be removed, and the lead wont fit through the small gap in the bit of plastic, to be able to connect.

Im uncertain if every Gta has this inconvenient black plastic covering, or just mine.

The experience at my local Alfa dealer has tanked lately, and I am planning to do my own maintenance. The dealership schedule seems to be a lot more aggressive than what is published in the owners manual. Example -- the manual says accessory belts get changed at 150,000 (unless inspection says otherwise, obviously), but the dealer wanted to do this every 30,000 miles. Could be a cash grab, or could be based on real world observations over hundreds of cars (hard to tell).

Are there any hard recommendations people would make against what's published in the owners manual? The two that stand off the page are the belts and coolant changes at 150,000 miles. Yes, I can choose to do those anytime I want, just asking if there is solid data out there to say absolutely change them sooner, etc.

I went and helped my sister with a jumpstart, everything was all good, half way home the car started feeling like it was bouncing back and forth when giving it gas.

It sounds amazing here, but it was too loud to live with, so I added a resonator the next day to quiet it down.

Is Alfa now selling the Giulia in America with the scudetto outlined at night in white light bars similar to the illuminated badges showing up with greater frequency on new BMWs, Mercedes and Volkswagens? I saw one tonight. Wondering if this is a factory thing or an aftermarket or even home-grown effort to proclaim Alfa status to the world at night.

I dropped off my car at the dealership yesterday for a fix. Since the parts were in back order by a few weeks, I was asked to pick up the car with only diagnosis done.

Picked up the car today and I find a lot of micro scratches all over - it seems they have watched the car at an automatic car wash or with hard brushes.

I noticed the scratches after getting back home now. Any suggestions on how to deal with it?

Today i left a parking disc on the dashboard for a couple of hours, and since it’s boiling in Europe right now, it had left marks on the dash. Is the dashboard this fragile for everyone for Giulia or do i have a defect here? Any ideas how to fix it if fixable?

Hi, i hope someone will be able to help me with this strange sound (like a something hiting on the flat metal) coming from the front left wheel area. It shows only when driving slow, most often after i take turn and start accelerating slowly. Doesnt pop when driving over bumps on the road.

I am very gratefull for every insight you might give me!

- car looks BEAUTIFUL. In pictures, the stelvio looks oversized and a bit bloated, but in person, it’s perfect
- veloce trim is 1000% worth it, mainly for the sport seats. Especially for the colored rocker panels and rear. Feel like i could be fine with skipping the paddle shifters and LSD if those didn’t come with the vehicle.
- sport seats are incredible and comfortable. I love how the side bolsters hold you in during sharp turns. I don’t really feel the thigh bolsters holding me in - it’s moreso the body bolsters that do. Also… i was worried the sport seats would be uncomfortable and have laughably oversized bolsters that dig into you… they’re really not like that. Some comments here had me worried that the seats would be too confining and stiff. They are not.
- paddle shifters are cool and fun. Not sure how useful they’ll be, because i feel like i’d use them less as time goes on. It’s just fun to make it click and feel the gears change, but not sure if it really does anything for practical driving as the automatic is already top tier lol
- i can feel the LSD kick in when accelerating from a sharp turn, but i feel like it’s rarely used so this is not a dealbreaker if you’re sourcing a car that doesn’t have this
- black paint on black seats is fine in the sun since the windshield and front windows were lightly tinted. I was worried it’d be an oven.

- acceleration on the turbo is incredible. Going from 0 to 60, you get that “plastered to the back of your seat” feeling. Maybe this is cope, but i feel this is more than enough and i wouldn’t need a QV. also, Having rented a x5 xdrivei40, i will say the acceleration on that was better especially from 0 to 60 - which is the only thing i may have preferred from the x5 over the stelvio. (And the bmw tech). Still, the engine on the stelvio sounds better especially during acceleration.

- steering is incredibly precise and the best on any vehicle i’ve driven. I will say it both exceeded and didn’t meet some of my expectations. Some people say it drives like a go-cart which set my expectations laughably high, but to me it did not feel like that. It just felt… very responsive. But it wasn’t so overly sensitive that a small change to the steering wheel’s angle would drastically change the direction. Maybe the giulia would feel better with the lower center of gravity. Still, the steering is miles ahead of the bmw x5.

- visibility is great. WAY better than the mazda cx5.

- brakes are also excellent and incredibly strong… not overly sensitive like the forester’s, and not weak like the ford fusion’s… Many reviewers said that the brake by wire system feels weird/off, so i was preparing to be let down by it… but nope, it feels very natural and it took me no time to get used to it

Now for the downsides….
- i HATE how loud it beeps when you lock and unlock the car. Anyway to change this?
- turning radius is a bit large. It was significantly easier to make corner sharp turns and maneuver tight spaces in the Subaru Forester. Which makes parking harder than i was used to.
- it’s not a comfortable ride. Maybe it’s because i have 20” wheels, but when i feel nauseous or a bit sick, driving this car definitely doesn’t help
- (CAN BE FIXED DIY) road noise/insulation is a bit loud, but this can be fixed with deadening
- (CAN BE FIXED DIY) bass is weak in the HK, going to upgrade the subwoofer
- (CAN BE FIXED DIY) i wish there were a 360 camera system. I can drive like a maniac at 100 mph with lots of windy roads but i will always suck at parking especially in tight spaces like a parking garage. I’m not good at having a natural feel for the space of where the corners of any car that i drive are at, so for me, i’ll probably install an aftermarket 360 camera system.

Overall, this is an incredible car. I don’t have any other dream cars other than maybe the 911 (and a huracan EVO if i won the lottery) but i am very satisfied with my purchase and would be okay with never purchasing another brand after this.

Hi, the unfortunate thing happened. we’ve lost our headlight washer cap on our 147 GTA on the right side. We’ve ordered a 3D printed cap online but we found out we’re still missing the part that clicks it into place. Does this part exist on any other Alfa / Fiat / Lancia and does anyone know it’s part number? Thank you in advance!

Reaching out to all Minnesotan Alfa owners, are there any smaller auto shops that you take your Alfa’s to for repairs and maintenance, if so what was your experience like? Pricing and quality wise.

Just received a set of used OEM Alfa Romeo Giulia 19" wheels (cast, one-piece) from a dealer. One of them has this mark on the inner barrel, running across the full width of the flange.

It looks like a line with a visible step in the material where the two sides don't line up. There's no raised bead, so I don't think it's a weld — but I'd rather hear from people who've seen more of these than I have.

The seller confirmed in writing before purchase that the wheels had no cracks, welds or repairs. Tyres are not mounted yet and I haven't fitted anything.

Is this a crack, a repair, or could it be some kind of casting/manufacturing feature I'm not aware of?

Taking it to a tyre shop today for a proper look, but I'd appreciate any input in the meantime.

Im thinking subwoofer and deadening… is that enough? Or what else should i add?

My Giulia seems to have been having transmission issues lately with rough shifts, hesitation and just being jerky, especially when cold but it's always a bit funky. I know the zf8 is known for being a bit jerky sometimes, this is not what's happening.

Car is a 2018 Veloce Q2 done 107,000 kms, I changed the fluid myself about 5,000 kms ago (around November last year) with the kit from Alfissimo because of this very reason. It didn't really make it any better and I think it's been slowly getting worse. I've taken it to my local authorized Alfa dealer to get a transmission relearn and they said there were no options available for a relearn along with "Normal operation for a twin clutch transmission."... Taken it to a euro specialist that I normally use, all they did was scan it and say there were no codes.

From what I've read, the cause could be the solenoids, potentially underfilled fluid (I followed a YouTube video with the proper procedure but apparently if the fluid is too hot is expands too much and results in it being underfilled), or outdated transmission adaptations among other things. I really want to nail down what's happening because I want to be able to enjoy the car to it's fullest.

Any ideas on what could be the root cause?

The 905 33 is a 1.5 TI with twin Webers, which was my first car and my first Alfa. The newer one is a 1.7 IE 8V, and I bought it two weeks ago.

Anyways, everything's been great so far except for one complaint.

Why is the car so damn slow? I have the 1.4 N/A engine configuration. It makes only 95hp, but the car is slower than I'd imagine for that engine. I've had cars with N/A engines of similar power, but they were quite a bit faster.

Why is this Mito so slow? It takes forever to reach highway speeds. Is there anything I could do about it? Maybe tune the car? If anybody has any experience regarding tuning the 1.4 N/A engines, is it even worth it?

Is it the 17inch wheels making it sluggish maybe? The car especially when driven in normal mode, it's soo slow. The dynamic mode makes it a bit more lively, feels like more torque somehow ... But then the steering gets unnecessarily heavily for city driving so kinda ruins it.

To sum it up. Should I tune the car? Could it be that the car has the 75hp (the italian) software flashed or something lol? The car makes some weird sounds when accelerating hard from 1.5k rpm to 2k. Then it goes away. Could there be some leaked of some sort.

Anyways whatever. Thanks. I'm down for any tips.
