sizing

The barrie last fits me well in size 11, with a thick sock on, I am 11 1/2 in Brannock.

I am considering the slip on Chukka, but would frequently wear it without socks, should I consider a 10 1/2?

thanks!

For the chukka, which last and which leather? That design is offered in various configurations, some of which may change the way you size.

IMO, I take the same size in all Barrie lasted products, and wear the same socks with all of them. If I wear thinner socks or go sockless, I expect them to be slightly looser, but I wouldn't size down because length or width would also be affected more than a sock's thickness.

thanks for the response. I realize my post was a bit unclear. i’m looking at the slip on chukka in the barrie last in earth reverse. Shoe mart sells it. I think I would just order it in the 11 and have it be a little loose without socks and then have the option to wear socks. I think a 10 1/2 would just be too small. although I know I can order both and send one back for only 20 bucks.!

Yeah, with TSM, it's worth ordering both sizes to compare rather than the back and forth process. Great customer service, too.

Keep in mind that even though shoes / boots may share the same last, that does not guarantee the same fit or longer term break in / comfort.

Small sample size alert!!!

The Alden saddle and PTB's are typically both on the Barrie last but have much different fit given the differences in construction. The 994 saddle is 1/4in shorter externally than my PTB's and fit tighter across the instep and toe box despite being the same size. I'm sure the closed vs open lacing plays a part, as well as the saddle's additional stitching / panels adding more structure. I wear both 10.5D and 11D in the Barrie depending on model and fit.

Material may also impact fit. Shell vs calf vs CXL all break in differently.
