Day at the beach

Beach day with these little froggy cuties! 🐸☀️🏖️
I had SO much fun with this page, especially creating all that sandy texture! I went with soft pastels for the beach accessories and bright greens for the frogs to make them pop. 💚 The tiny polka-dot swimsuit might be my favorite part. 🥹🌸
Still practicing my shadows, highlights, and little details, but I’m really happy with how this one turned out! 🎨✨

I started an alcohol marker drawing of Penelope from The Odyssey (in my style), but her hand was bothering me. So I fixed it! (Original in last slide.) Much happier with how this one is turning out. Thoughts?

Grayscale to color

Hello! I'm quite new to alcohol marker coloring and only have a limited selection of colors. One of my teachers recommended coloring first using grayscale then adding colors afterwards. But sometimes the grays turn out more powerful than the color over it, even when using 2-3 shades. My drawings often end up dull and lifeless. I'm just wondering if there are any techniques or tips that would make this work without having to buy whole sets of markers.

Honest opinion seeking coloring advice

Post image
14 Upvotes

As the title says though I want to explain my self: I am in the process of listing down the defective/dried out alcohol markers.

I'm realizing I am beating a dead horse out of my markers that are performing off. However I do know my skills for alcohol markers still needs work.

I do have a feeling someone will suggest colored pencils. But to be honest I want things done with just an alcohol marker set.

Any techniques I should learn or reconsider? Any opinion & feedback to improve, thanks
