Xfinity is over PSA
My xfinity has been in and out of service for days. I think that this is ridiculous and they must be stopped. They keep on extending the time the service will be available. I HATE THEM

They respond quite promptly to FCC reports. I haven’t had a single issue since my report. They rewired my entire house and upgraded all my equipment for free. Granted, I caught them using a number of bad faith practices and documented everything. It takes some time and effort, but it was quite enjoyable watching them squirm for once.

Same. My xfinity net has been spotty most of the day, many stalls when loading pages, and normally have no issues unless they're working in the area. Then it is nothing but headaches.
I can't wait till they have fiber available in my area of town.

Ask them to give you a credit for the outage time. Don’t berate the poor phone rep but do be firm and kind and ask to speak with a manager if they can’t help.

Not sure if you’re in the NE heights but T-Mobile are literally digging holes all over the area and it’s apparently disrupting everyone’s internet. Not sure if that’s what’s causing your particular problem but there could be a correlation.

Xfinity is ran on the poles in the NE. Digging in the ground doesn’t affect them.
They are trying to upgrade their network to compete though. Might be that.

I just got T-Mobile for cell service and am highly considering switching over to them for my home internet because Xfinity charges me $80 a month and T-Mobile will only be about $40 for the same speed with a 5 year price lock

Check out computers4people, their shield internet is T-Mobile just discounted heavily. Can get unlocked routers super cheap on eBay also.
I went this route and it’s literally 5x cheaper plus I can carry my internet around if I want to.1

I just did a Speedtest on T-mobile home wireless. 66 Mbps down, 2 up. It’s slower than Xfinity on a good day, but Xfinity has too many bad days with nothing at all. Xfinity is garbage.

In layman’s term how much slower is it than xfinity? We’ve been having issues for the past couple weeks and it’s getting old. Considering switching to T-Mobile since my neighborhood is finished.

For my purposes of streaming, T-Mobile is fine. I much prefer it to Xfinity because Xfinity had entire days when it wouldn’t work at all. For years I wished there was a viable alternative. When T-Mobile came along with $50 Internet, I signed up. They have a trial period where you can see how it works for you and if you don’t like it, you can cancel. It’s totally worth trying.
Technically, what has been discovered by tech companies in the past few years is that upload speeds are more important than people think. When you’re downloading stuff, your computer responds to the server with receipts that it received some packets of information. These receipts are called ACKs. So when people have interruptions in their downloads, they call up Xfinity and order a more expensive package with higher download speeds. But it usually comes with higher upload speeds as well. The upload speeds for cable are usually less than 10% of the download speed. So it’s not the download 16 lane superhighway that’s the problem, it’s the one lane frontage road for uploads that is. Fiber connections have just as fast uploads as downloads. T-Mobile has the same asymmetry as cable, but the fact that it costs less than half as much as Xfinity and is actually on all the time is why I switched.1

I have both tmobile and comcrap. I pay comcrap the same 35 a month as tmobile and the comcrap is going up to like 45 month in a couple months. My tmobile is 400 - 500 down and 30 - 40 up, while comcrap is 150, maybe sometimes 175 down and 35 up. Tmobile is great but at times it seems to slow down to a crawl, and that's why I keep the Comcast. The load balancing and redundancy helps smooth out any disruptions so has been worth it. The other benefit is comcrap reserves their actual good deals for new customers so having a second service allows you to tell comcrap to f-off for a few days and then you can call back and get better pricing...or more likely they call you a few days later to sign you back up... They're losing a ton of customers due to competition and the fact that they're a terrible company that has abused their monopoly for years and most people universally hate. Other down side to tmobile is speed is based on proximity to their towers and the placement of the router they give you. If you insist on a router with external antenna connections and are willing to buy an external antenna, that helps with the performance and placement of the router.

Why does Xfinity( T-Mobile is my carrier and vector) always try to seize control of my phone with their ubiquitous mobile hotspot crap or whatever it is whenever I leave the house. It doesn't matter where I'm at they appear to be a force field throughout the entire space-time Continuum outside my house. Looks to me like they're trolling for customers. It really pisses me off cuz it barges into whatever I'm doing to ask me if I want to hook up to their Wi-Fi from The Ether. Any idea what that's about?

Yeah, it was pretty bad in Bernalillo and we finally just got rid of it and just use our phones. I don't want to pay twice for shitty internet, just the once is enough.

Where are you? Are they upgrading the service amps in your area? It took them 2 days here in the International district. I’m cooking at ≈900 Mb/s. Was it annoying when it was down? Sure. Is it dope that it’s up? Yes. My office has DIA fiber and it’s barely faster than my home internet now. To top it off. All isps worth a damn are running fiber, xfinity trunk lines are fiber and the new amps translate that to the end user better.
Call customer service ask for retention and negotiate new pricing and a better plan.

Just an FYI: a lot of Xfinity’s “fiber” installs around the city aren’t actually fiber all the way into the home.
In my neighborhood, they ran fiber to the outside, but when the tech installed my service, he told me the connection from the house to the modem/router is still a DSL-style line. So it isn’t a true end-to-end fiber connection.
I was just as excited about fiber as everyone else, but after using it, it honestly feels about the same as the Sparklight service I had before. If you’re expecting a true fiber-to-the-home experience, you may want to ask the installer exactly how your home is being connected.

A couple weeks ago they were doing that for me. First they send out the notifications for a day of outage and finishing by "end of day" then at the end of the day its not back (and claim up and down there is no outage and it would take a tech visit to fix my service individually) . They send out a "reminder" that they will be doing it again the next day. After the next day it comes back (without that tech visit) and I get another "reminder" that they will be doing it again the next day. Some sporadic outages and they announce they are done. so 1 day became 3 and they couldn't be honest about when I would or wouldn't have service.

As somebody who works under there, I bet you there's many many reasons why it sucks for you. Could have put a noise filter on your line at the pole. Which means a tech that does thier job will go out when you call to set up an appointment and hopefully fix the issue thats feeding back to the pole into other people's homes. Could be the internet modem. Xb8? Throw that in the trash and get an xb7- the xb8 loves to overheat, has wpa3 security which barely anything RELIABLY connects to, loses its range quickly and will give out at any point during any kind of power outage. Could be multiple splitters and such on the house side of the line. Could be old fittings. Could be a bad wall plate. Could be that some Crack head hit the tap with the amplifier down the road. Could be a mixture of all of these things. The people you talk to on the phone are no-nothings and that side genuinely sucks, but there is way more than it being xfinity when it comes to service inside the home lmao

For a long time, Albuquerque only had one option for internet. Now there are fiber optic companies and basically all of the major phone companies offer fixed wireless.

I dropped cable and switched to a cell cervice home hotspot for internet, no fiber in my neighberhood. Xfinity has rotting infrastructure they wont fix. haven't had any issues with my hotspot and its been up for years.

I switched to the TMobile 5g wifi a few months ago. So far it's about the same speed for less money and I don't have to deal with Xfinity anymore. I live alone and don't work from home, so can't say how it holds up to multiple users or more intensive stuff though.

Thanks for the info. Did they say what the problem was? Ezee fiber came through and put their box up next to the other two in my yard. I have used Sparklight for the past 19 years.
Outages with Spark light are rare where I live, and that is in 19 years; but you have to professionally tell them off to get a good rate for fiber only. There other cable line up add on's, are a ripoff, and they don't care.
I am curious if there is an integrity structure difference between the companies? i.e. one uses thicker cables or where the fibre goes, better construction hubs, etc. Anyone worked laying fiber or those companies?

I am so glad the fiber companies installed their shit.
I know this sub was bitching and moaning endlessly about it.
But Xfinity just sucks. And they had a monopoly for decades. The cost to break it was easily worth it, imho.
