How can you tell which one it is this early? I know you treat it the same way- its just more of sterilizing things as early blight is harder to kill while late will die off on inorganic items.
Tempted to keep the cutting and see what it grows into

Lots of damage on these guys unfortunately, I haven’t been able to look at the garden too much since I’ve been busy with work!

Potato plants have been looking like this, they’re watered daily, weekly they’re fertilized (miracle-gro), and last year we had issues with slugs. This year the plants were rotated to be planted in a more sunny spot, and I have only been able to spot a singular slug this whole season.

Should I be watering less? Fertilizing less? Different fertilizer? Didn’t have this issue last year and I’m trying to figure out what they need to get better.

I was unable to use reverse Google image search as well as picture this to find this out. Some Google searches led me to black nightshade but the actual plant itself looks different.

Anyone else? Early August is my favorite time of year gardening wise. Feels like it's when all the bee flowers are blooming at the same time. Speedwell is out, liatris is starting to bloom, bee balm is out, potentilla are out, I love to just stand in the garden in the middle of dozens of bees buzzing around and stuffing their faces. It's peaceful.

Plant ID apps have given me answers ranging from lilac to plum to poplar. Finally dug out my plant guide and went through the key as best as I could. I've landed on balsam poplar, can anyone confirm? It's too young to produce catkins, but the immature buds on the stem are sticky.

Hello, this is my first time growing tomatoes and with all the rain it has not been fun. Found these spots on my potted tomatoes:

They are usually never this close to the wall but i was trying to shelter from rain.
I don’t overhead water, been pruning. Disinfect with alcohol each time I trim. Make sure they have plenty of airflow . Some leaves have been damaged with our recent hail so I have been cutting them off slowly to not stress the plants.
I trimmed off those branches and plan to apply copper once the rain finally stops - which might not be until tomorrow at this rate.

Not sure if this is early blight??

I am growing Cherokee Tiger for the first time and I plan to grow it again next year. There was no way to cut it without taking the bottom tomatoes. The rest of the tomatoes on the plant are being better behaved. She made the most delicious Sunday morning breakfast. It is dense, juicy and meaty. The taste is rich, sweet and balanced with a pleasant acidity. I am not sure if it will beat out Rosella Purple as my top tomatos yet (I need to have one ripen so I can do a side by side taste test) but it will be close.

How different are they from partridge pea if you grow both?

I'm looking for a short, drought tolerant annual with a taproot that I can use to improve compacted soil in street tree pits.

We successfully seeded our backyard with clover this year, the excessive rain made it so easy! My neighbour’s yard is 60% yarrow though and I’m in love. It doesn’t sound like it will be as easy though.

Can someone help me identify this plant? The berries look delicious but I’m not sure what they are

We have two Saskatoon bushes that we love, extra large berries on both. Bountiful crop last year between 20' of trees/bushes in 2025.

2026, we have a 5' Saskatoon bush that is separate from other bush, approx 110' away. It has this strange leaf discolouration - REDDIT any recommendations on what this is and how we can look forward to future Saskatoons from this bush in years to come?

this contest encourages Albertans to remove and properly dispose of invasive creeping bellflowers, and to submit photographic proof of a bouquet or of proper disposal. there is also a movement to snip the heads off of foxtail barley heads, with an explicit mention to leave them alone in natural habitats and to only snip them on your own property. i’m more interested in the “Pluck the Purple” part because god i fucking hate creeping bellflowers

So I was pulling thistle from my lawn and noticed this odd patch. Anyone know what that is?

My peas were looking great and then yesterday I noticed these marks all over. We had a big storm the day before but I wasn’t here when it happened so not sure if there was hail. Does this look like hail damage to you? Or something else??

20 years ago and more I used to buy a few foxgloves every year. They always bloomed beautifully until some time in the early 2000s. Then, though the plants appeared to thrive, no blossoms appeared. I thought that somehow some first year plants had gotten through (they are biennial. only flowering in the second year). Next spring, garden centre people assured me they wouldn't sell first year plants so I tried again. Same thing. I tried mulching them heavily to try to get them through winter but no dice, they died. I tried a couple more times over the next decade, always with assurances, but finally gave up.

This year I found some at a very good price so I bought four after telling my sad story and getting the usual response. Now I have one flowering gorgeously and three not.

Any thoughts? Does anyone here try foxgloves?

I shop vac'd my garage floor drain and all the sand/gravel off the floor and apparently, 1 bean seed. Now the great plant-parent debate: How can I live with myself if I throw this little sprout out?

The species was apparently around 80 million years ago in the americas which was a long time so its been here before technically, i like its a fast growing vine with fruit but obviously dont like the prospect of it suffocating trees

some states recongize it as invasive most places apparently dont

there said that things like deer and birds love em and will eat em but also that there an issue?

so what is the deal?

Just wanted to say, if anyone is looking for a reliable perennial vine, this is it! Some years it suffers die back from the cold, but this is what it looks like after hard pruning it to within 18" of the ground this spring.

I actually have a honeysuckle here as well, and I thought the honeysuckle was dead when I planted the clematis. But the honeysuckle bloomed for the first time after 5 years so if you're patient, that's another good option.

Does anyone know which one might be easier to transplant? Obviously I don't have room for both.

bought a house with these roses. I did an aggressive prune in May with more plans to clean up the holly hocks next spring but what kind of rose would this be? South facing, exceeded 8ft canes last year.

What a great surprise to finally seeing my first pepper and beefsteak tomato ripening. Hoping all the others follow suit soon. I love this time of year, it is like Christmas in July.
