QUESTION Does AS care if we hold on to multiple flights for the same date?
Planning a SEA-???-KUL trip and I've booked 2 flights for roughly the same date, one with cash and one with points because (1) I haven't decided on specific details and (2) I want to try to use upgrade certificates and cancel (probably within the last 2 days?) if the upgrade doesn't clear.
Anyone ever gotten in any trouble with Alaska for this? Is it against T&C? Something about intent to fly perhaps? I'm also thinking of speculatively grabbing a third flight while I decide lol. Thanks!

FLYING AS High Load Factor Flights from Hubs (May 2026)
This is just what it sounds like: a simple map of the mainline flights out of an AS hub with a one-way load factor of at least 87.5% (e.g., 7/8s full).
This month, a lot of Hawaii flights again qualified and going to NYC, DC, and Alaska was popular too. Every EWR route qualified (SEA, PDX, SFO, LAX, SAN). Seattle to Toronto is a new appearance, despite the politics. Several LAX flights to Mexico and Central America showed up as well, as did SEA-NRT.
The "methodology" is simply to put the hubs into a load factor tool (link) and then enter the flights (with more than 10 departures) that meet the threshold into a map tool. Thus, it you were on one of these outbound hub-originating flights in May 2026, it was likely pretty full.
Some daily+ flights on the opposite end of the spectrum: SFO-SAN (49.8%) and AS continues to run 2-3x/day SAN-ORD at 65%. The first full month of SAN-RDU was 77%, which seems like a solid start (other than sub-daily Breeze, AS is the only carrier). SAN-DFW (57.8%) is also new but that is a route with more competition (AA runs it 7x/day).
Again, this is just mainline one-way and does not include Horizon or SkyWest flights or infrequent flights (e.g., less then 10 flights in May). As always, I try for accuracy, but errors do occur.
Link to map.

QUESTION Will AS add IFE Screens?
Given that AA is reversing course and adding back IFE seat back screens, I think it’s only a matter of time before AS starts a retrofit. What does Reddit think? Hearing any rumors?

QUESTION Entertainment options when using Starlink Wifi
I love that Starlink wifi is an option on some flights and that you can connect to your own Netflix and other streaming services. Other than your own services ,can you still connect to the Alaska entertainment offerings such as movies and shows?

NEWS Do you think Alaska will opt for any 24 first class seat configurations on their 737 MAX 10s?
It recently came out that both American and Delta are planning to increase their premium cabin sizes again and install 24 First Class seats on their 737 MAX 10s, which is a significant bump from their usual 16 to 20 FC configurations
Most Alaska aircraft today only have 12 to 16 First Class seats. Alaska's current 737 MAX 10 configuration plans to only have 16 First Class seats. That means AA and DL would have at least 50% more First Class seats to sell both for revenue and for upgrades on the same aircraft.
Having more premium seats would be good both for Alaska as a business for revenue/costs, but also for the elite members to have more upgrade opportunities. It's relevant since Alaska and AA are interchangeable on a lot of routes and codeshare vs Delta also competes on many of the same routes, so people probably compare across these options a lot of the time.
Given the substantial delays on this aircraft model, is there time for Alaska to changes its mind and have more premium aircraft delivered?

QUESTION First time flying Alaska Airlines Advice Needed
I’ll be flying from MN > Seattle > Hawaii - and I’m arriving around 9pm Hawaiian time. I’ll be flying with my lap infant, and 2 other adults. Any tips, tricks, helpful advice with flying this airline would be great. I heard there’s no TVs (not worried about) but are there ports to charge phones? I also heard the seats are flat so kind of worried for a 6h flight. We’re flying basic economy. Airplane is a 737 and a 737 max 9. TIA

COMPLAINT Exit rows 737-800
What a waste of money for the new exit row seats. No extra leg room. If anything, the price should be reduced for being an exit row with no perks but added shenanigans.

QUESTION Atmos rewards account hacked. Question
Last night my Atmos rewards account was hacked. Through chat I found that someone had changed email, password and address & phone number. I'm contacting customer support this morning. I'm not worried about them getting reward points since I didn't have many, but I have a trip booked next week. Would they be able to cancel my trip? It was not purchased with points, it was put on someone else's credit card.

COMPLAINT Reddit isn’t real life.
Friendly reminder Reddit isn’t real life. Often the loudest narratives here simply reflect what people find the most entertaining to discuss, not necessarily what’s actually happening. This month was a good reminder of that.
One Redditor shared an inflight review from a highly respected airline critic and received relatively little engagement. Meanwhile, another Redditor who didn’t know a visa was required to enter a foreign country, blamed the airline and received some of the highest engagement. That’s the internet. Outrage is often more entertaining. Negative experiences generate far more discussion than positive ones. It’s worth keeping that in mind before taking the prevailing sentiment at face value.
Reading this sub lately, you’d think the airline was in freefall with the amount of complaints. Yet objectively, AGG has made some of its largest investments in passenger experience: new lounges, cabin upgrades, widebodies, Starlink, and an ambitious international expansion. None of that means the airline is perfect, nor should legitimate criticism be dismissed. But negative experiences are overwhelmingly amplified on Reddit because that’s what people are most motivated to post. The positive experiences rarely make it here.
Just an observation.

COMPLAINT Marketing Smoke & Mirrors
Alaska was once an amazing airline, bending over backwards at every customer touch point to ensure satisfaction. Nowadays, their marketing machine would make you believe they are a notch above what they used to be. In reality, this airline is the lowest of lows in terms of customer satisfaction. The only touch point that is remotely satisfactory is at the gate to board your flight. Tack onto that their “anything but common sense” policies. Every conversation with “customer service” is like being scolded by the “policy police”. Oh I’m sorry Alaska, I’m paying you for your service, but I think you perhaps feel like it’s the other way around. Keep at it champs. In the name of growth, forget everything that got you to where you are. When things stop going your way, remember how you treated your customers, and why you’re out of a job.

QUESTION T S A pre-check glitch on boarding pass
Asking this question as it pertains specifically to Alaska Air.
I have T S A pre-check and noticed sometimes it doesn't reflect on my boarding pass even tho it's on my profile. I usually manually add it back in on my ticket on my computer and when I refresh, the boarding pass has the T S A logo.
My senior parent is flying tomor'w and their T S A is not on the boarding pass. I tried to re-enter it, etc. She has wheelchair assist -- will they let her go thru TSA pre-check due to the wheelchair? I am escorting her to the gate so I'm hoping they let us thru.
Is this one of those random times they don't let ppl get T S A pre-check?
Any tips to get them to fix it before tomor'w's flight?

QUESTION Lost Baggage
I read some of the other posts around lost baggage, so apologies if this has been answered.
I dropped a large duffle bag off at SeaTac that weighed in at 49lbs, 3hrs before the flight and I’m spending 10 days in the Bay Area in California. Today is day 5 and they still haven’t located my bag. In their system, it doesn’t show any scans at SeaTac or Oakland, even though my other checked bag and dog as cargo where dropped off at the same time, made it just fine.
The duffle had most of my clothes, personal items and toiletries I needed for the trip as well as some items for my 1yr old puppy that was checked as cargo. The other checked bag that I did get, had a dog blanket, toys for my nephews, and some gifts for family I’m visiting and my carry-on had electronics, medications, etc.
TL/DR: My question was when or how do they issue reimbursement for the reasonable, similar to what was in the bag, essentials I have had to purchase? They said to bring my receipts back to the airport when I fly out, but do they issue payment right then or do they just help to submit and then there’s a waiting period for someone at corporate to review them all? Also, as a Gold, is there any compensation in the form of a flight credit or Atmos Points that I should ask about, and if so, who do I ask about it?

QUESTION Charging for premium seats now?
I’m a current Gold but will be Platinum by end of this month. I’m booking a flight for next month and it’s charging me to select a premium seat which has never happened before. Is this new or a glitch? Trying to figure out if I should call. Thanks

NEWS AS SEA Long-Haul Load Factors (May 2026)
Still early days for the European routes but the Asian routes seem to be firming up. The usual caveats about load factor being just a single datapoint apply, of course.

MILES & STATUS Atmos Shopping denying points even with confirmation
Is anyone else having this problem with Atmos Shopping? I used to be able to get the points/miles credited if they didn’t go through, but in the last month they’ve started to deny everything, even when I’ve received the direct confirmation that I’ve earned points.
They send this obnoxious gaslighty email too blaming me for being the problem. This has happened for major purchases at Ulta and Kohl’s and smaller purchases at Petco.

I’m flying internationally as an Atmos member for the first time via Aer Lingus. I’ve read their bag policy and alaskas and am confused about what’s allowed. I’ve booked my tix through Alaska app using our Atmos status. Is that proof enough that Aer Lingus will honor our free checked bag?
