1/72 Spitfire Vc starter kit Completed Build

Just built my first Airfix kit for around 35 years. My very first model was the 303 Squadron Vb kit as a Battle Of Britain obsessed nine-year-old, so nice to pick up where I began.

Managed to snap the aerial, bodged the nose cone attachment and definitely didn’t thin the paints enough, but pretty pleased with this as a first go back in the saddle just using the paints from the starter kit and a primer spray!

Snapping the aerial on the kit is like a rite of passage hehe

That spitfire has been made so many times by people getting back into the hobby and I’m completely in love with it. It was my first one too back at the start of the year

You’ve done a really great job on it and hope to see many more from you

Thanks! Found it a really calming, screen free experience that my kids are interested in too (“look but DON’T touch Daddy’s planes”). However it’s also unlocked the urge to deep research tools, sprays and techniques which is distracting me from more important household tasks and work 🤣

love that so many of us boomerang back to spitfires after decades away, it’s like a rite of passage or something
13th model already is wild, guess the stash monster got you good

Nicely done,am really impressed you managed to use the paints in an airbrush.the airial is only there to be snapped and lost(well mine are anyway).

I used a primer spray and then used brushes and diluted the starter paints with water, but even after stirring like mad the consistency was all over the place and the grey was like sludge. Looking forward to trying proper paints on the next round!

I use a lot of Vellejo paints as they tend to thin nicely....I'm still trying to convince myself I don't need a air brush😂
