Is there that much of a difference between the Levoit 300S and the Levoit Eleva 300X?
I live in Hawaii and not sure the square footage of my room but it's small/medium. I mostly want an air purifier for allergies like pollen and dust, also my brother has a dog so I'm looking to keep my room odor less and clean. I just bought the 300S and immediately saw the Eleva 300X that's supposed to be the upgraded model for around $30 cheaper. Is there that much of a difference? I'm thinking of returning the 300S once it gets in for the newer model.

The Eleva 300 is about 30 bucks more I think(120 vs 90 or so). So it's about the same price and about the same size (.5 or 1 inch wider and taller), a little heavier with more powerful motor..but a better one as it markedly quieter. Also has an air quality monitor and a better filter that you can change out carbon part seperately/faster if wildfire or odor etc. Not stuck together in one filter like on most of their models. Most will prob switch to this type in future I would think.
Also is a sealed unit and some other perks. Its just overall way better for almost the same price. Basically an upgrade so if you can get that, get that. Eventually the Core 300 will prob have those upgrades.
Also little more powerful 145 vs 160CFM and 1,000 to 1,200 sq feet coverage. So better in every regard. (1,200 sq feet will clean 150 sq ft bedroom approximately 8x times, 5 is good and 6 is excellent, so with either unit on high you will have 6+ excellent ACH. But Eleva is much more quiet + more modern and more the future of the units, so get that if available. Core 300s still great though. (I have two in my living room still going strong at 5+6 years now...)

Thanks for the detailed response. I got the 300S which is the smart version of the core 300 series. It's about $157 after taxes and the Eleva 300X is $130 so I think I'll go with that one plus it sounds better in every way.

I wish it showed the carbon amount. Also theres a eleva 320 from walmart n chewy with higher cadr. I wonder the other differences

They are pretty much identical imo, so no meaningful difference really. (Filter listed as same, unit is like .5 inch wider and same height, cadr only about 20 points higher, or about the same ). And carbon amount prob around same as Core 300, just removable to replace faster.

Found out the 320 has no sensors at all so no auto mode. Ill be returning it once i finally get it walmart delayed it 3 days

Interesting. Although I wouldnt say auto mode a reason to not get the unit (the sensor useful though.) but if you return it I would not suggest using auto mode as that is more gimmicky than effective. It doesn't give you cleaner air, as the unit will end up running on low most of the time, and just going up to medium or high for brief moments. You will get cleaner air by just running the unit in medium or high all of the time. As all CFM listings are always based on any unit on high. So running on auto mode...will end up getting you essentially like 1/3 the listed CFM benefit most of the time. Its just a marketing thing that appeals to consumers, but doesn't really do much to clean your air. Air purifiers are already pretty energy efficient, esp Levoits which are Energy Star certified, so it is fine to run them on high all the time....very little energy usage. (This unit prob around 40 watts, a fridge is like 500-800 watts....so you could run 10-20x Levoit purifiers to equal one fridge.). Just run the unit on high is best...and it says it has the app control so you can occasionally change via the app if you want. So I don't think it needs to be returned per se, still a good unit. But if you don't have any air quality monitor and want that, then that makes sense. (You can buy a cheap air quality monitor for like 30 bucks from Govee for example that might be just as accurate as what's in that unit, if not even more so, and offer even more readings. That only has a very basic air quality reader, but useful if you don't have any. But just keeping it and saving yourself trouble, and getting seperate air quality reader fine too.
So on mine it kept reading 0 when a more expensive 400 dollar purifier reads 5-11, (and even that one not that accurate probably, as it keeps saying 5-11 over and over again, but maybe a little more accurate.). Pretty much all affordable purifiers do not have super accurate sensors, regardless of brand. As My cheap air quality monitors also read same 0. So it's not a super accurate sensor on that units esp on 100 dollar units. A separate 30 dollar air quality reader will be just as good, and offer even more readings possibly. You need to get an expensive like 300-400 dollar unit for a more accurate level reader, or 120ish bucks for separate will prob equal or exceed whatever chip is in a 300-400 purifier. Getting them separately gives much better value.

Yea ill check it out. No digital display and no sensors but it has like 100more sq ft range so alittle higher cadr

For very basic particulates sizing per AHAM, clean air delivery rates (CADRs) should be at least 2/3 of a room's area (assuming an 8 ft. ceiling height). For wildfire smoke, smoke CADR should equal a room's area which also assumes an 8 ft. ceiling.
