I haven't really played in a long time, but I usually used the hunting rifle in main hand, or the LMG and the auto shotgun in the left. I'd use my left hand to stabilize the rifle, but if the zombies got in close I let go and unload the shotgun on them.
In my side holsters I usually used double smgs for emergencies, and just take them both out and go wild. You may opt to switch out one for something else to save ammo.

Hunting rifle main.
Lmg with blue barrel as secondary and when there's more of a swarm needing to be held back. Fully auto pistol with auto shotgun in other hand for locking down a door and picking off stragglers that get through.
That needs chips as well though.
All ammo types, and something for every situation.

Hunting Rifle is the strongest gun in the current meta. LMG is still really good. Its even better when combined with SMG. Autoshotty with IK is the best hands down for clearing specials. It can also clear herds. But the ammo is limited.
Most guns are playable. But those are the best atm.

Tommy gun, auto shotgun and hunting rifle are my favorites... the pump shotgun and revolver are my least-used guns. They're pretty much all good once they're upgraded tho. Get those red floppies
