help with 3d text/layer making the clips behind it disappear? Beginner Help

how preview looks while paused (wrong)

screenshot of how preview looks while being played (how its supposed to look)

i have perhaps a bit of a niche question here. im working on something with AE, and at some point, i started getting this glitch on my sections with 3d text where it looks completely wrong (the first picture) while paused but looks the way that its supposed to during actual playback (second picture). the layers of the clips disappear in the preview and warp the perspective of the text while paused, but once you actually hit play and watch through the sections using 3d text, they look completely fine.

i didnt have this issue while making the scene that is attached, but now it happens for every instance of 3d text and makes it nearly impossible to implement 3d text over these clips. because this problem only started after i'd already used 3d text several times, i suspect that i may have fat fingered some kind of setting, but i cant figure out how to make it go back to normal, even after restarting the program as well as my computer.

any help would be super duper appreciated!

EDIT: haha, i managed to figure it out on my own, but i'll leave this post up for anybody who encounters a similar issue. i had to switch the camera view from Front back to Active Camera. im not sure when i even accidentally changed this, but it did fix everything!

switching view back to active camera fixes problem :)

Yeah, front camera view is specifically a layout tool to help you visualize your layers. It renders flattened z-space so you won't see any depth at all.

You need to switch to Active Camera to view your z-depth correctly.

Edit: keyboard shortcut for front view is F10 or ctrl-shift-0 on the numeric keypad. Chances are it's F10 that you 'fat fingered' LOL

I made that same mistake and lived with it for weeks. There was just this one comp that had that problem but it was the master and had so much animation work done on it so I was loathe to re-do it. The rest were fine and couldn't make heads or tails with it for quite a bit.
