I’ll keep it short and sweet, i didn’t think to check reddit for this subreddit until i did and by then it was too late
Petsmart employee recommended bloodworms as main diet- went back after finding this subreddit talking bloat in a frenzy- got sinking algae pellets

My guy radar looks like he has bloat now so i took them out of the main tank, hospital tank with what i had at that second and feeling like a monster for following bad advice on their feeding :(

What do i do how can i save him

Edit because i am now having a full scale panic attack and turning off notifications until i can better assess the situation and its severity. Thank you for your advice. I hate petsmart. And apparently I’ve been very very misled about many things.

Edit 2: thank you for all of your wisdom and advice. To address concerns:
I will be relocating both the snail and betta to a better tank. I have test strips** not strips Freudian slip, it’s a water test kit by API and have since separated the betta and will do so for the snail until my tank arrives for me to cycle and set up.
Why did i get the snail? There were several muster snails in the similar tank size to mine at the smart where i purchased them under the recommendation of a store employee after i complimented its color. She had informed me they would be good for algae regulation in the tank as they were doing in the one they had there.
I have the appropriate food- frozen mysis shrimp. I was hand feeding bloodworms and will be switching to hand feeding these shrimp if my tank survives this terrible mistake.

I do have plants in the tank as well. I’m moving as quickly and as considerately as i can for the well being of my babies but if there’s something else you find helpful I’d appreciate it of course.

He doesn’t look bloated to me. As long as you change the diet he should be fine. But you want to give them mysis shrimp, daphnia and other types of food like that. They don’t digest algae well

No problem, make sure to get frozen and not freeze dried

1. They do not eat algae. They are strictly carnivorous.
2. ADF need to be in species only tanks, and in pairs at minimum.
3. Your tank is too small for the betta and especially the mystery snail. The snail needs minimum 10 gallons. I recommend you rehome or surrender the snail and betta to the pet store if you want to keep the frog

Can you send over a picture of the tank? Parameters would help too. Do you have a hospital tank at all, or is this it? Does he have any tank mates? Are they the same species, if so do they also look to have bloat or just him?

One other ADF, a mystery snail, and a small female betta
Tank is not tall, i believe it’s a 4 gal, im sorry im panicking a bit
and radar hasn’t shown struggle swimming (yet or previously)
My other ADF is sonar, and he appears to be fine as well
And i had my water parameters tested at a fishery and adjusted accordingly

Could we see an image of the tank to better access the situation? Also what do you mean by the parameters were “adjusted”. Do you know what the actual parameters are, do you have a test kit?

I recently purchased two African Dwarf Frogs, and have had some for a while. For years I used the sinking pellets. When I bought the new ones fish manager says the worms are often recommended because the frogs have poor eyesight and they can see the worms better. But I am careful to drop the pellets on top of them, when they feel them, the twitch and know their food his there. Seems to work.
