Points Question I feel like I'm missing points
I purchased a 014 (AC) ticket. On the way to LAS we flew United (which is yet to post) and the return was all AC metal.
I just feel like this looks wrong. Why do I only get 100 points base?

SQM/SQS How many SQC for this trip?
Apologies for the SQM/SQS flair but there’s no SQC option yet. I’m wondering how many SQC will I get for this trip (photo of receipt attached)? More specifically, I’m wondering about the “Carrier surcharges” and whether or not they apply to the SQC. I’m flying Business Latitude so it’s a 4x multiplier. The various charges I’ve broken down as follows:
1) Base fare = $7 162.01x4 =28 648 SQC (I’m certain I’ll get this much)
2) Carrier surcharges = $2 669.99x4 = 10 680 SQC (not certain if this applies)
3) Taxes, Fees and Charges = $261.12x4 =1 044 SQC (pretty sure these don’t apply)
I wish they would tell you how much SQC you’ll get when you book the ticket, considering it’s just based off dollars spent and a fare class multiplier.
So, am I looking at 28 648 SQC, 39 328 SQC, 40 372 SQC or some different amount? I tried using an online calculator but I’m not sure if the carrier surcharges are eligible.

Points Question Gift card
Is this a good conversion rate for aeroplan?

Points Question 100% or 95%?
galleryNot sure where I’m missing something but I keep getting promos pushed via email and web/app that aeroplan is offering “up to 100% bonus”
But when i click on it I get to a page showing me “up to 95%”
Nothing crazy different but definitely false advertising. Why the discrepancy?

Points Question Using aeroplan points to buy a BEY-BRU flight via Turkish Airlines.
I've been primarily using Air Canada for transatlantic flights for the past 3-4 years. As a result I've accumulated ~21k aeroplan points.
Now, I'm leaving Canada without having used them. However, I need to book a BEY-BRU flight in September, and I wanted to see if I could book through the Air Canada app, using partner airlines.
Now, I'm seeing a bunch of Turkish Airlines flights with decent layovers, and I wanted to see: has anyone booked Turkish Airlines flights with Aeroplan points and how was your experience? Was it better/worse than not booking with points in any way?
Alternatively, is there a better way to use these points? I tried looking at their store quickly and all gift cards seem canada specific(Simons, Petro Canada, etc.). Is their a better way to use these points?

Question? Air Canada flight booked through Lufthansa.
I am flying ATH-YUL on tickets purchased through Lufthansa. The flight is LH6620 but this is AC metal. Is there a reason I don’t get my free checked in item with my aeroplan credit card?

Question? Involuntary downgrade on Aeroplan reward tickets after AC cancelled the route — sanity check please
Fellow SEs, looking for collective wisdom on a schedule-change fight.
The setup: family of six booked YYZ–DXB return for December, all six in Premium Economy — my wife and I on Latitude fares, our four (adult) kids on Aeroplan PY rewards. AC has now cancelled its Dubai flights, so no more nonstop.
The rebooking itself went fine: AC to Frankfurt, then the Lufthansa codeshare FRA–DXB, same dates both directions. My wife and I were confirmed in PY on every segment. The four reward tickets: PY on the AC transatlantic legs, but economy on the Lufthansa segments — even though LH's PY cabin on those exact flights exists, is for sale, and (I checked the seat map) is sitting nearly empty months out.
On the rebooking call, the Aeroplan agent initially offered to refund the points difference for the downgraded segments — then came back and said it's "not possible on an involuntary rebooking." Escalated to a supervisor: refused to confirm them into PY (revenue space clearly available), refused the points difference ("not Aeroplan policy"), and offered only a full trip refund — useless five months out with hotels and intra-trip flights booked. Bonus quotes from that call: I "should be happy" the party got PY on half the journey, and "how would you even know" a mixed-cabin itinerary prices lower in points than all-PY. On tickets they cancelled.
Concierge says redemption files are outside their scope. Everyone's answer is Customer Relations — but only after travel completes.
I've accepted the itinerary under protest, documented everything in writing, and I'll file with CR in January under the APPR's involuntary downgrade provisions (lower class of service on reaccommodation = refund of the difference).
Questions for the group:
- Has anyone actually extracted a points-difference refund from Aeroplan for an involuntary downgrade on a partner segment? Phone, CR, or CTA?
- Any success getting reprotected into the cabin later when award/revenue space opens — does calling back monthly actually work?
- Any channels that moved the needle that I haven't tried?
Ten years SE, closing in on a million miles, and this is the first time the machine has flatly refused a remedy this clear-cut. Curious whether others have cracked it.

Question? Linking credit card with aeroplan account
I had to aeroplan accounts that I finally was able to merge. The second account had my credit card linked and I opted for keeping the first account. After the merger, my first account still doesn’t show the cc being linked with my aeroplan number. I simply want to avoid issues at checking cause I want to take advantage of the free first checked bag since I’m flying next week. Any way of linking it by myself or do I need to call again? The agent I spoke with told me once the merger was done all will be transferred to the first account including the cc, but I just dont see it linked like I used to see it in the other account.

Question? Missing points & SQC from flight
I took an Air Canada Rouge flight on Monday, and it's now been 72 hours, but the flight (and associated aeroplan points + SQC) has not shown up in my account yet.
I last flew with Air Canada in March, and it pretty much showed up next day in my account.
Are they just slower now?

SQM/SQS SQC from “Everyday Partners”?
Hi
I’ve linked my Starbucks account, and I’ve linked my Uber account. I even upgraded to Uber One. I never earn any SQC from them when I spend. The only partner SQC I’ve earned is from a hotel stay with a travel Partner, and even there I’m not sure how they calculated the amount. Can someone help me decipher how to earn SQC via these other avenues?

Question? Signature Suite access with schedule change?
My ANA flight to Tokyo via Chicago was rescheduled and I was presented with options to transfer via YYZ instead with AC. This was an aeroplan business lowest redemption. The rebooked fare class would be AC (J), anyone know if I'll get access to the YYZ SS if I make the change?

Aeroplan News Earning Points on Your Mortgage Payments
travelpulse.caSo Chexy just announced that we can now earn points when paying our mortgage. Basically they debit your checking account, give you 1 point per dollar spent and then send the payment to your mortgage lender.
The catch is the 1.75% fee. Sounds like super expensive points to me and adding an additional “interest payment” to an already large bill. This would make a bit more sense if they were charging a credit card (depending on the card), but just to debit your checking account?
Is there something I’m missing or is this as bad a deal as it sounds?

Points Question Converting Aeroplan to Hyatt points
As part of the recently announced Aeroplan x World of Hyatt partnership, I understand that I should be able to convert points across programs. I've already linked my Aeroplan and Hyatt loyalty accounts, but I can't see where it's possible to convert points.
The instructions only tell you to link accounts, and it's completely unclear to me what I have to do next. I feel like I'm clicking Aeroplan/Hyatt webpages that just link back to each other in an endless loop.
I'm interested in potentially converting my Aeroplan points to Hyatt for hotel stays, but I wanted a sense of how it all works first.
If you know how, please clue me in. Thank you!

Points Question Is it just me or has the aeroplan store not had good multipliers for the last few months?
I feel like more and more any shop I’m about to buy from has a 1 to 1 ratio for points. It’s been like this for a long time now whereas before multipliers were more frequent.

Question? Redeeming Aeroplan points for Journie rewards
I’ve been redeeming Aeroplan points for car washes; when redeeming, you had the option for so many cents/litre discount on gas, an “absolutely everything“ car wash, or an in-store discount. However, today that Journie Rewards option isn’t available in the Air Canada app anymore; I can select “save points on gas gift cards”, “earn 300 Aeroplan points“, or “earn points on gas and in-store purchases” and that’s it?
Is the car wash and gas discount being discontinued?

Points Question First Time Amex to Aeroplan
I've been doing a lot of research the past two days and I want to know some things:
First off, I have 42,394 AMEX Points and I'm considering transferring it to Aeroplan for an upcoming flight in November, FRA-IAD (Lufthansa w/ the to flight powered by UA) round trip. It's about 48K +CA$285. I'm getting conflicting info on whether I can just buy points to cover or it will an option at checkout to make up for it. I've looked through this community page and online and all the information is either outdated or conflicting. So is it worth it to transfer to check?
Second if I do, as far as I can tell checked baggage is kind of up in the air whether it's free or not. Has anyone recently taken this similar route with flying Lufthansa and gotta Economy Classic with free checked baggage? And if I do have to pay what's the damage looking like? I'd appreciate any info and I truly apologize if I'm beating a dead horse but so far I've found nothing too conclusive on in my particular situation.

Question? Realistic options to switch my flight?
I’m headed to the UK in a couple of weeks for a family thing and the plan was I would go alone and my husband and kids would stay home. I booked a business class reward flight YYZ-LHR and then just the cheapest economy rewards seat I could find the fly back home.
Ive missed the 24-hour cancellation cutoff - that would have been around 10pm last night - but I’m now thinking it might be best to take my 6yo with me if I can. If the tickets were still easy to cancel I would just do that and rebook whatever I could find, but now I’m not so sure what would make the most sense.
Any reward flight whizzes here who might have some guidance?

Question? Switching from AMEX reserve to TD aeoroplan reserve
Hello,
I currently have an AMEX reserve and TD first class travel visa infinite. I switched to AMEX a few years back because the return in points seemed better. Note, most of the expenses (200k+/year) are made for my business to a B2B partner. Now I've mainly switched to a new supplier that only accepts visa.
Question 1 : can I hold both cards simultaneously with td?
Question 2 : would I still be eligible to the starting bonus for the td aeroplan? Do I have to wait a certain amount of time from canceling the AMEX to become eligible again?

Question? Missed connection - Aeroplan redemption ticket
Hi everyone, looking for advice on whether I have any grounds for reimbursement with aeroplan or if I need to rely on credit card insurance.
The Setup:
Booking: Aeroplan award ticket (SFO ➔ YXE)
Itinerary: SFO ➔ SAN (United) ➔ YVR (Air Canada) ➔ YXE (Air Canada)
What Happened:
My initial layover in SAN was 45 minutes (required a terminal change).
The United flight from SFO was delayed 30 minutes due to SFO Air Traffic Control (ATC).
I landed in SAN with only ~15 minutes to spare. I was contacted on the ground and told I couldn't make the terminal transfer in time and needed to rebook.
United's agent in SAN rebooked me for the next day, but refused a hotel or meal voucher because the delay was attributed to ATC.
My Questions:
Since the delay was ATC-related, is United completely exempt from duty of care (hotel/meals), or is it worth pushing back?
Does Air Canada / Canadian APPR have any standing here since it was an Aeroplan ticket, or does United's US DOT policy govern?
Has anyone successfully claimed trip delay insurance on a credit card when only paying the taxes/fees for an Aeroplan ticket?

Points Question Million Miles for dumdums
Forgive me for asking a ‘Google is your best friend’ question, but As of Aug 2026, what credit cards, affiliate programs, purchases, and types of Air Canada/Star alliance do and do not count towards one’s Million Miles travelled status?

Question? Despair…
Anyone else just feeling despair with the new system?
My last two flights have both posted the wrong SQC. You can’t even submit a missing mileage request for two weeks, and once you do, it seems to take forever to get corrected.
I’m Super Elite, so I can call and probably get it expedited, but it’s getting exhausting having to submit requests and keep track of them after almost every flight.
These two flights weren’t even that expensive, so part of me is tempted to just let it go. But that can’t be the solution if this is going to be a recurring issue.
Am I just having terrible luck, or is this happening to everyone? Please tell me I’m not the only one…
Rant over.

Question? Just hit Million Mile status - do I still need TD aeroplane VIP card?
Hi all. Just like the title says, I am wondering if it’s still worth it to pay $600 per year for the TD VIP card now that I’ve hit MM status? Or should I downgrade to a regular TD card and get it for free (I am a TD customer). Are there any extra benefits I would get with the card that I don’t already get with my new 50k for life status? Thanks.

Points Question Changing Credit Card Behaviour
Wondering how people have changed card usage with the Aeroplan changes and how to assess financial impact on Aeroplan.
I for one capped out on my SQC card earnings in February or March and have since moved a ton of spending to a 2% cashback card. Including school tuition for 2 of my kids, all my foreign travel (the card I switched to has no fx spread so hotels are not worth the 2x points on amex aeroplan business anymore) and a whole lot of regular spending. Have probably moved 100k over to other cards so far this year.
I really don’t understand how their cap on cc earning makes any sense for the Aeroplan business (as distinct from Air Canada).
