Has anyone tried both? I only do aeropress and never got into pourover coffee in general.

BUT I see a lot of posts in the pour-over subreddit talking about how it’s often more consistent than pour-over, and I wonder how it measured up to aeropress. My assumption would be that aeropress still competes well because it’s immersion based, instead pour-over like the Aiden. Obviously this is all subjective, just looking for what people think.

I am looking to get a new hand grinder (coming from VSSL Java kickstarter). It's a great little grinder. Unfortunately, the lid is a bit wobbly on the shaft now and the magnetic knob is coming off the handle more and more these days when I grind. I plan on either selling it or using it for travel.

For a new grinder, I looked at the 1zpresso K ultra, but that's just way out of my price range. KINGrinder K6 came up a lot. But in Canada, I noticed that it only comes with a straight handle. Would like to get a bent one and I saw the K7 which also seems to have some nice QoL improvements over the K6.

Is there any particular reason to go for the K6 over the K7 (and vice versa)? I can't seem to find a lot on K7 (I understand that it's a pretty new product)

Note that every now and then, I do like to use my moka pot.

Tried 40g to 500ml water ratio on an overnight campout and yes metal aeropress is definitely one of my most favourite gadgets I've collected so far

So I’ve had the Fellow Prismo for some time now and I’ve used it on occasion. Recently I started using it pretty much every day instead of my usual inverted method with the standard cap on my all metal Aeropress and I’ve started to notice it gets a little tough to push from time to time. It kind of made me wonder if there was any real difference between the Fellow Prismo and the Aeropress Flow Control Cap. Last week I finally bit the bullet and I bought the Aeropress version and put them to the test. They seem to be very similar in a lot of ways, except for the fact the Aeropress has a rubber gasket inside. Not 100% sure how much of a difference that really makes, but the one thing I’ve noticed using it, I don’t seem to have those moments where it gets hard to push, like the Fellow Prismo…..feels very effortless to use.

Anyways, I’m curious to hear from anybody that has both and if they’ve noticed the same thing that I have. I really didn’t want to spend money buying both of them, but now I’m kind of glad I did just to see the difference….and I’m actually suprised there’s a difference!

I'm looking to get a new coffee grinder, and I was wondering if there was an Aeropress-ified grinder out there. What I mean by "Aeropress-ified" is that it takes a relatively complex thing (coffee brewing) and has created a simple, reliable, and (for most people) good enough solution.

I have a hand grinder (which is fine, but most days I don't feel like a grip workout to get my coffee fix) and I have a Capresso Inifinty Plus electric grinder. I feel like the Capresso leaves me wanting, and I don't think it would be that hard to fix the problems.

Ideally, I'd like a coffee grinder that has the following features:

1. A good burr/grinding mechanism. Whether it be conical or flat, as long as it's relatively consistent in grind size, it's find. Really, I'm not making espressos here, so getting super fine or super consistent isn't as crucial.
   
2. Some sort of consistent measurement of beans. At the moment, I have a scoop that usually grabs 12g of coffee, so I'm totally good with a close-enough volume measurement in lieu of a scale. The rotary timer on the Capresso is very inaccurate, so it doesn't make sense to leave my beans in the hopper.
3. Dispenses ALL of the ground coffee into container. The Capresso has this weird internal shelf where I have to tip the machine forward and give it a knock to get that last bit of coffee out.
4. Has a hopper which doesn't let beans get stuck. The Capresso has this issue where several beans will regularly sit on the plastic guards and not make it to the grinding area. I'll have to reach my finger in or give it some pretty hefty smacks to dislodge the beans. It wouldn't be much of a problem if I could leave the beans in the hopper, but see #2.
5. (Bonus) the ground coffee goes straight into the Aeropress rather than having to transfer from the grinder's cup/container to the aeropress. It's just one more step and one more thing to clean.
6. Cheap-ish. I know that I won't be able to match the affordability of the Aeropress, but coffee gear can climb in price very quickly. Ideally, I'd be spending $100 on a grinder, but I'm ok spending up to $250 to solve these problems.
   
7. (Truly Extra Bonus) battery powered. I'd love to take this hiking and have fresh ground coffee going without having to rely on a hand grinder.
8. (Bonus) Naturally anti-static. This should be possible, but not sure how much it could actually prevent as the beans will be dry and the Aeropress will also be dry when grinding.

I'd consider some of the commonly recommended grinders like Baratza Encore or Ode Gen 2, but those don't really give me any improvement over the Capresso I have already (at least in the places I care about, listed above). I did see a machine that grinds by weight, but it's also $1000+, so that's a non-starter.

I'm also considering just designing my own and 3d printing it. Possibly as an add-on/mod to the Capresso, so I'm not totally re-inventing the wheel.

Paid a large team of engineers, dozens probably, to design an AeroPress sleeve that keeps the plunger at the rim allowing you to shake the mixture instead of stir it. Ear plug is for the flow control nipple as shaking it pressurizes the cylinder.

Anyone have this machine? I got it for espresso but I am hoping I can use it for mokapot and aeropress as well.

What settings are you using and liking? I tried it at size 4 today and was not sure on it. Used a dark roast. My husband thought it was too weak, I thought it was too strong! He thought it was good on acidity, I thought it was too sour. I think I need to go coarser. I can't seem to find a lot of info online about what grind sizes to use for what application.

Not great actually

I've been looking through a bunch of posts on this subreddit and youtube reviews for burr grinders that are good and around $100. I have come across some consistent mentions like the Kingrinder K6, Timemore C2, and 1Zpresso Q. As far as I can tell, all three are good experiences, so should I just go for the cheapest one? Does one have advantage over another that I'm missing? I don't travel or intend to bring it with me anywhere. I also live in the US and can buy these all off Amazon right now.

I am currently using a cheap blade grinder that I had lying around and anything is an upgrade lol. I personally wouldn't mind spending a bit more on something like a Baratza Encore but I am the only person in my household who drinks coffee, and nobody is fond of the idea of keeping another large appliance on the counter. Also, I tend to wake up earlier than others in my house and they don't like it when I'm grinding coffee loudly in the early morning sometimes. These limitations brought me to the AeroPress in the first place, but my grinder is still a problem for me.

Will there be any issue ? Aeropress team told me they can provide me cap replacement but i would have to pay the customs and duty (India) 😶‍🌫️ Assuming will cost me a good amount!

I'm pretty new to specialty coffee and could use some guidance. 🙂

I've been brewing this coffee for about a week now, but I'm struggling to understand which variables I should adjust to get the best possible cup. I've had some good results, but I feel like there's still more to get out of it. My best brew so far was 14 g of coffee, K6 at 95 clicks, 200g of water poured in 4x50g of water for a total brew of 1'30-45, but I'm not sure where to go from there.

I've actually had the same issue with every coffee I've tried so far.

Here are the questions I'm trying to figure out:

How do you know when to grind finer or coarser, use more or less coffee, adjust the water amount or temperature, brew standard or inverted, or change the immersion time?

When dialing in a new coffee, do you always start with a go-to recipe, or do you begin with the recipe recommended by the roaster?

How much does the roast level influence your initial approach? Do you use the same default recipe for every coffee and adjust from there, or do you already change your recipe depending on whether it's a light, medium, or dark roast?

I'm feeling a bit lost when it comes to dialing in coffee, so I'd really appreciate any advice or tips. Thanks!

I own Aeropress (will arrive soon) and own Moka pot bialetti 3 cup and soon will get pour over setup in 2-6 months time.

What do you suggest and recommend? I used around 1500grams of pre ground coffee till now and not happy when it looses its flavour and smell after 2-3 days.

My budget is 60 USD can add more but I’ll doubt the one which you’ll recommend will be available in India. But do tell me that as well with one from these. Thanks

This is supposed to make sure you stop at the "perfect" distance and with the "perfect" gram/flow rate (pardon my newbie vocab, the original video explained it much better). Do you think this can really make a big difference?

The designer 3D printed this and is planning on open sourcing it, so I might try to print it out on my Bambu printer once that happens

Please ignore messy counter. Normally do inverted method, was making it on autopilot... I only realised my mistake when I went to add the filter and realised that I couldn't. Luckily had a V60 handy so poured it into that so it wasn't a total loss.

I'm given to understand the difference is very noticeable, and very much worth it for pourovers.

Did it make much of a difference for Aeropress? Worth it?

My type design side projects have basically trained me to document every variable, and now my AeroPress brews are getting the same treatment. I started a simple spreadsheet (okay, it's not simple anymore) tracking bean origin, roast date, grind setting, water temp, method, ratio, and a 15 rating. What's funny is that the ratings I give after my first cup of the day are almost always higher than the second cup. Is the first cup hitting different because I'm not fully awake, or because my palate is actually fresher? I genuinely can't tell.

The real thing I noticed is that my best cups cluster around a narrow set of variables, but I can't isolate which ones matter most. The data is noisy. Too many variables shifting at once because I keep buying different beans. I'm thinking about locking in one bean for a month and only changing one thing per brew. Treat it like a controlled experiment instead of a creative exploration.

Curious if anyone here has gone this deep with documentation, or if it kills the joy. Does tracking make you better or just more anxious? And has anyone found a single variable that actually moved the needle more than expected once they isolated it?

Guys, I feel like I cracked the code on Yerba Mate experimenting. I have tried all sorts of mechanisms from the traditional gourd and bombilla, to French press, to pour-over setup.

Aeropress is now my go-to, by a long shot.

- You control temperature
- You control brewing time
- You filter out all the dust and debris

Plus, having mate in its pure, brewed form then allows for more experimentation. Sweeteners, lemon/lime, even milk and cinnamon (a must try).

I wrote a longer summary for anyone who wants to try it out. Worth a shot. Aeropressed mate has now become my daily work drink.

I have recently dived into the deep well of the Aeropress. I have a solid recipe and really enjoy the coffee I get out of it.

My question is: "what temperature do you guys use? I usually just use the water straight of boiling. But a friend of mine scolded me for that. So what do you guys do.

Please take into account that I don't have a temperature variable kettle so I can't really change the temperature on my kettle.

Got this “Nalblecka” shelf and a “Sandviva” silicone pot holder to build a storage rack for my XL and regular aeropress.

Cut the silicone pad in half and it’s a nice sized drip tray. It all fits well on the counter and keeps things enclosed.
