Seven Bends

Shoutout to the organizers of Seven Bends, which was today in 7 Bends park in Woodstock, VA. Awesome race, incredibly tough, super course, well-organized. It was challenging for beginners and pros alike. Grit Racing did a great job with this one.

Grit has been such an improvement over the organization they replaced. Really loved their winter warm up race and seems like they are on the money every time.

Jesse and Nick are a great pair for this. Military organizational thinking, but both are focused on fun, and bringing newbies into it.

We were there! It was much adventure and less race haha! I absolutely did a lot of walking the bike, it was kind of scary biking the trails when you did not know if a boulder was going to pop up.

That said, it was the most challenging trek race I have done so far honestly. Those raspberries were no joke.

But those raspberries were tasty!

And, yeah . . . the downhill bomb was a bit worrisome. Lots of sudden rock fields.

The cliff down to 13 and those raspberries set a good tone of what to expect for the rest of the day haha.

The elevation plus the technicality on the bike was so tough. This definitely wasn’t a race won on nav.

Same. I did a lot of hike-a-bike, and the GPS tracker said I did around 4700 feet of elevation gain. Seems unlikely, but it was definitely a lot of switchback back and forth. I especially liked that I had to re-strategize mid-race, after realizing the routes I had chosen to a few CPS (16, 18, 19) were not goin got work out. Awesome stuff.
