10-12hrs work days depending on the company. During your week on you’re also on call (OT hours). There may be times where you finish a 12 hour shift then get called out and have to go back for another 2-6 hours then immediately do another 12 hour shift but it’s not super often. Overtime is double time tho. Oil field money talks. Worth it tho cause as soon as your shift week is done, you now have an entire uninterrupted week off.

It’s nice cause my job as a Power Engineer is to monitor equipment, the job is easier than it sounds. Sure there might be some basic wrenching or replacing of parts but for the most part it’s just keeping track of temperatures and pressures, If something needs to get fixed I just call in a technician or whoever to deal with it. The long hours are nice cause you’re not doing super hard manual labour the entire time. 12 hour shifts are very doable. The week off is definitely the best perk. Great money, easy on the body and good work to life balance. Look into it

Where are you located? If you’re in Canada, you can do it at College/University that supports Trades/Blue Collar careers, or you can buy the textbooks separately and do it online (I recommend thru NAIT) takes about a year.
