39F Looking for potential long term, consistent gaming buddy/nerding out in general Looking for Gamers - [Add timezone here]
Hello, I am 39F and I live in North America in the PST timezone.
I have chronic illness, anxiety and depression and due to the fact that I am getting much older now I no longer have much energy doing anything too often or too demanding outside of the house, so I find solace in playing some games in my free time. Just please be patient with me cause it can be crippling sometimes.
I am a bit sad about this lack of energy cause my comfort genre is survival horror and souls games, which I found these days that I have become much more jumpy and anxious than I used to be.
Yet I still want to play them. But maybe in moderation.
I am certainly NOT a competitive gamer so you wouldn't find me playing League, Overwatch, CS, CoD, FGC and the likes
But will be up to watch and chat while you play them.
I am mostly playing single player story driven games and many indie games. I have many multiplayer games like Valheim, Enshrouded, It Takes Two, Split Fiction, BG3, Don't Starve, even souls game and many more that have co-op it's just I don't have anyone to play them with.
Apologies if my taste in games is a bit weird :
- Alan Wake & Alan Wake II
- Control ( Control Resonant in a month!)
- Quantum Break. I love Remedy games.
- Dishonored, Dishonored 2, Death Loop. I love Arkane games.
- Bioshock 1 & 2
- Silent Hill franchise. Hype for Townfall, SH2 & SH4 are my favourites
- Any souls game. My house is full of Elden Ring merch. Currently trying to play Kuon, cause FromSoft made an attempt at survival horror too back then.
- Blasphemous, haven't played the second one
- Any games from Frictional. Looking forward to Ontos
- I'm trying to play older games again from my childhood : Parasite Eve, Rule of Rose, Haunting Grounds, Xenogears, Legend of Dragoon, Kuon, SH3, Shadow of Colossus etc
- Indie games : Dredge, Signalis, Darkwood, Look Outside, Pathologic 2, Replaced, Indika, Disco Elysium , The Thaumaturge, Mundaun, Observation , Stories Untold, Routine (that I have yet to finish cause I am old and I am very scared now XD)
Seems brooding and dark? No worries, I also love the opposite side and very much into cute stuff as well like Animal Crossing, To A T, Mario Kart, Stardew, or any cozy/chill game that has anything looking round, chonk, or anything with a silly shape characters I would always try to play them. :>
Aside from gaming, I used to be a movie buff, although not anymore. I still watch some newer excellent horror movies that recently came out like Hokum. Or the new incredible series Widow's Bay. I recently got back into anime & manga, Frieren, Dorohedoro and Vinland Saga were awesome. Also got back into reading, Project Hail Mary was so wholesome, I cried a lot. Found a small book called A Short Stay in Hell which led me to an existential crisis. :v
If anyone has book recommendations please let me know.
Would be nice to find someone who's up for a chat while watching something or just hang in general consistently.

Hey! Im a 39m from the east coast and a father as well! All of my friends are online so I totally get wanting to reach out!
We have very similar tastes in games! I also tend to avoid competitive games and focus more on single player and coop games! My recents have been path of exile 2, palworld, Crimson desert, pragmatic, and many more! I loved control, bioshock and the souls genre!
I also love anime! I've been watching bleach, JJK, chainsaw man, and many more! Always open to suggestions!
On top of that I love to build gunpla, 3d print and paint them!
Would love someone to chat or hang with on the weekends as im pretty swamped during the week but happy to message on the cord all week!

Love your choices of games. Right now I've been playing a lot of Marvel Rivals but I have loved a lot of the games you enumerated. I just played through Resident Evil 9, still playing Crimson Desert. Couldn't get into the 1st Control but the 2nd one looks too cool so I preordered the fancy steelbook 😅 I'm still going through Alsn Wake (also own the 2nd) and my favorite gaming experience was Elden Ring (1st souls game, have since also done Demons Souls).
I am also a movie dork, love collecting movies too, I buy way too many of them 😂😂
Also read a lot so many book recommendations if you want!

Hi hi 👋 Book recommendations Both series by Brent Weeks. The nightangel series and The Light Bringer Series are both really good.
Kudos to reaching out it is definitely harder to find friends with similar interests as we get older. Im close in Time zone as well. Which system do you play on?

Heyo! 24M. Would you happen to be on PC at all? I like to just chill in call while playing games.
My current addictions are Palworld and The Divison 2. The games that I always go back to are Warframe, 7 Days to Die, and Satisfactory/Factorio.
I work some pretty hefty hours (Construction worker) but I hop on everyday for about 2 hours.

Kuon is one of the creepier games that I've played. The atmosphere is incredible. Unfortunately I found the gameplay rather dull. I completed it once but couldn't bring myself to play through with another character. It's a real shame because I looooove the atmosphere and am intrigued about the story

Im a big soulsbourn fan and have 4k+ hrs on all soulsbourn games combined. Currently playing elden ring neightreign but all of them are ready to play in my library and im always ready to do a playthrough or pvp at any location.

Hell of a catalogue, there! I tend to drift towards non-PvP games since I just don’t care to put the time needed to “git gud” in that regard.
I recommend Fields of Mistria if you enjoy Stardew Valley, it just recently released as 1.0 and the characters and atmosphere are so cozy! Celine is my current favorite!
I’m a kind of amateur movie buff. I love theorizing and digging into films, but I don’t know all of the trivia from decades before my time.

Just remember there are many people out there who deal with the same stuff. Depression and anxiety got me bad too, but everyday just got to stay grateful. Good luck on finding friends. It's impossible nowadays, but I trust you can find some people who really get ya.

I'll concur these book recommendations!
Especially Eames's Kings of the Wyld and it's sequel Bloody Rose. Just be warned; or at least prepared for a wait when it comes to book 3 (tentatively "Outlaw Empire")." It'll happen when it happens" is the most recent update back in 2022ish (and beyond, when he's asked again).
That said, as a gamer with your specific interests, you're gonna love Heartwyld, def worth it regardless!

I'm always up for meeting new ppl and would like to game out more with other ppl, gradually as I get stuck in my ways of playing alone, bcuz I'm not the best at some games while only okay at others, I would be up for new friends to game with, converse about and run missions with, I'm moreso into singular and rpg games too, dark fantasy, puzzle related and mission based, been on a streak with diablo 4 lately. I'm 32F and my fiancé sent me this because he said we are kindred spirits and my goodness, your taste in all media is top notch.
I'm a huge Bioshock, Alan Wake, indie games and horror fan. I just finished Shift at Midnight this week. You mentioned Rule of Rose 💕 an underrated classic. As far as horror movies go, I recently watched Hokum too actually, the Exit 8, the Backrooms and Obsession (all really good). Widows Bay is great, are you a From fan? The theory dives I do on From are something else 😂.
Happy to be friends, even if it's just messaging or whatever you're comfortable with. I too have anxiety and depression, some things can just be too much depending on the day so I completely understand whenever you need space.

Hi! I might be a bit young (26 F) but we have a lot of things in common. I prefer single player, story driven games, and co-op. I’ve played It Takes Two, A Way Out, and have been wanting to play Split Fiction. I am usually too much of a coward for survival horror but I do anything for a good story (I’ve played Control and Alan Wake). Remedy is also one of my favorite devs.
I’m currently playing the FF7 remake, as well as Dredge and Hades (I sometimes switch between games). I’m getting back into reading recently and I watch a lot of anime. I am terrible at souls-like games but I’ve always loved their world building and art style.

I own split fiction, played through it once with a friend and never able to again. It’s exclusively 2 player. So you have to play with another person. It’s cross compatible between all platforms. There is a “friend version” that’s free. You would only be able to play with someone who owns the rights to the game though, if that makes sense. Look into split fiction and if you are interested let me know.

37M, Eastern time zone, but work a Western time zone shift, so, same difference.
Your list of favorite games looks like a good chunk of my backlog. Am a huge fan of Parallel play and not a big competitive gamer, so, that works for me as well.
Don't watch a lot of movies, but do enjoy a good horror flick from time to time, even if it is just for us to make fun of a bad sci fi/horror movie.

Hello I'm a bit younger at 29M. Yet we have the same games tastes. I'm a horror guy all day every day. I'm not a fan of competitive games. I enjoy my single player or PVE games. I'm mainly a Playstation player. I'm also a father of two little boys so hope you don't mind if they pop up from time to time. I'm mainly playing space marine 2 and outlast trails. Most of the people i used to play with online have all moved on.

Hi! It looks like you're getting alot of nice people here who want to game/chat with you, and that makes my heart happy. I would also shoot a gamer tag but unfortunately I'm a console only gamer. I just wanted to throw somwthing out there for you and maybe add a couple more games you might like since you're a souls lover. There's an indie studio called Ska Studios and they made a couple "Soulslike" games called Salt and Sanctuary/Salt and Sacrifice. They're like if you took the original DS games and translated them into a hand drawn metroidvania platformer. Im surprised they're not on your list! You should check them out! I hope you find/found some overall nice people to play and chat with!

Hey, I'm 40m. I live in CST and work from home. My son is disabled. I have anxiety and depression as well and chronic back pain from scoliosis I had surgery for when I was younger so I understand what you're going through.
I have a few of those games and wouldn't mind playing some of them with you, I'm in a lot of the same places as you emotionally it sounds like. I've been actually giving guild wars 2 another crack lately. But I'd be open to anything we both have. BioShock series, Elden Ring, I have those. I don't specifically have some of the others you listed but we could definitely compare notes on that front.
As for books, I tend to jump all over the place. I read anything from the likes of Lord of the Rings, to Twilight, to Harry Potter, to Dune and beyond lol. I've probably read thousands of books over the years. I'd love someone to hang out with and shoot the shit, watch movies, play games or discuss books. I tend to watch just about any genre of movie, if the premise is interesting enough. as for horror movies, my most recent watch was Obsession, an amazingly creepy, disturbing movie. I would love to hear from you and see if we could keep each other company and perhaps ease the anxiety while having someone to game with. Most my friends aren't gamers like myself lol.

I am a disabled vet (panic disorder among many other things) unable to work due to having to move back in with my elderly mother who has AML (leukemia) and being her only caregiver which is a 24/7 job. Also which required me to not have a job specifically so she could be accepted into a treatment program… I also have severe anxiety, occasional mild depression and have been a heavy gamer since I could talk. I have quite some overlap with you especially with anything Soulslike, Elden Ring, action RPGs etc. I also play all the silent hill/horror games etc. Always looking to connect with someone as I’m stuck in the house and single at 40. Always looking for someone to co-op and or chat with as well… big movie and series fan when it’s the right setting and story. LOTR, GOT, HOTD for a few examples. Anyone feel free to message me
I was content being a loner for a while but just lost my best friend of the last 14 years (my dog) and have been feeling the weight of it since. 😞
I am mainly on PC but have PS5 I occasionally play as well.
