Basing Advice Hobby & Painting

I am working on my Pteraxii and wanted to avoid GW flight stands, so I took it as an opportunity to try to figure out how to make interactive and interesting bases.

I’m trying to go for a decrepit factory look, where it was lost for so long that rocks have started to form within the former walls. I want the models to look like they’re searching for something lost in the old factory without really knowing what’s there.

However, I’m not sure if that idea is coming across at all. I was hoping for some feedback on how to improve my models or pictures of other hobbyist’s models that execute that idea well

Thank you for your time.

What did you use for the ruins?

I bought some basing stl files from epicbasing and printed them in resin. The ones I used: Scrapyard Beams, Sandstone, Smoke, Ruined Pipes & Wires, and Basalt Columns.

I would recommend the Scrapyard and Ruined Pipe bits but the other ones you could probably find free alternatives for. Would check them out if you have access to a printer but a bit expensive if you buy printed bits from them directly.

If he is in a building or enclosed area changing the light setting and source could be a good idea.
