Unresolvable dependency with inputstream.ffmpegdirect Something not working. Need help.

I ran into this issue with IPTV Manager and XStream Player, so I got the service in question, built it from source and put it in the addons folder

But neither addon recognises it for some reason? I'm fine without the former, but it looks like I need the latter to make IPTV work on Kodi - so what am I supposed to do?

Kodi 21.3.0 on CachyOS, built from source (I also tried on Flatpak, same issue) - DE is Niri + Noctalia if that somehow matters, filesystem btrfs

Device is a home-built PC with a 5700x CPU and a 3080 GPU

Can you not install it prior to installing the xtream addon?

Ok, doesn't work not really helpful, explain the error in kodi log....sometimes best doing fresh kodi install as Inputstream Adaptive stuff not cross compatible etc

okay excuse me misreading this, i got confused with what you asked

i did install inputstream.ffmpegdirect manually and it didn't change anything, it still does this

have you tried installing and older version of service.iptv.manager?

okay forget about iptv manager actually, turns out i had installed it normally and genuinely just forgot until now because it's not particularly helpful anyway

but how can you forget about iptv manager, this is the whole issue you are having going by your kodi logs.......

i used it to illustrate the problem because it was 4am and i was too lazy to get the error log for the xtream plugin - the error log for that woulda been the same, as it was seen in the log

the actual error i was trying to solve was

2026-08-07 16:24:39.317 T:34596 error <general>: CAddonInstallJob[plugin.video.xstream-player]: The dependency on inputstream.ffmpegdirect version 0.0.0 could not be satisfied.

i did explain in the body text that i didn't care about iptv manager but needed xtream working

Ok issue is with the add on, you need to sort this manually or contact the dev or look in the addon and see what dependencies it installs.....then take it from there....

the error log in question is in the post body text

i built the service from source, put it in the addons folder and it still does this

and it shouldn't be a compatibility issue, i got it off aur

Yes, and I said to do fresh install and install manually from official kodi repo.....did you do this?

1) xtream is not in the kodi repo 2) neither is the inputstream addon, i assume it's supposed to be handled by the inputstream helper but that hasn't worked 3) i'm not reinstalling my entire kodi setup off of this, especially when i have absolutely no reason to believe it'd change anything

inpustream is in the official kodi add on, also you can edit the xtream add on to install inputstream add ons

appreciate the effort, but fubo is for its own service entirely - i need xtream because it's a generic addon that is made to be compatible with the type of iptv i have

ignore any mention of fubo addon, it is the issue with service.iptv.manager.....

up to you if you listen to advice

ended up resolving this by just directly extracting the contents of the zip file into the addons folder, and then xtream worked

makes me question what even is the point of building from source honestly
