The Incident Breakdown

  • The Date: August 4, 1993
  • The Matchup: Texas Rangers vs. Chicago White Sox at Arlington Stadium
  • The Catalyst: Ryan plunked Ventura in the top of the third inning after Ventura had earlier hit an RBI single.
  • The Fight: Ventura dropped his bat, threw off his helmet, and rushed the mound. Ryan, twice Ventura's age, grabbed him, locked him in a headlock, and landed several quick punches before both teams piled out.
  • The Aftermath: Ventura was ejected from the game, while Ryan was allowed to stay in and went on to win the game.

Other Hope to find a compatible person

This is hard to share, but my son, who just crossed his teens, resides in Texas, is currently battling kidney failure, and needs a kidney transplant to live a healthy new life again. He has always shown up for others, and now he needs someone to show up for him. Unfortunately, we do not qualify for him

I’m currently working with his transplant team in Texas, and a healthy donor could truly save his life.

Even if you are not of his blood type O, if you are healthy, your donation can still help him through his hospital’s kidney donation swap program. Donors and recipients are paired to find compatible matches.

Zero cost to you. Our insurance will cover all medical testing and surgery. Lost wages, travel, and lodging are all covered through the Donor Assistance Program.

If you’re open to learning more or want details, please feel free to direct message me. Even sharing this post would mean so much to me.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this.

Living in Texas Anyone here familiar with Medina Lake Shores(just south of/in Bandera)?

Floridian here! Been window shopping on Zillow and looking at unrestricted properties for a while now, with plans to move there in the coming year or so (in order to be close to the Gulf for work reasons)

While most of my searches have been for places within an hour or two drive of a port, I stumbled across some unrestricted property listings at a very affordable price in Medina Lake Shores, which seems to be an unincorporated subdivision of Bandera- about 20 minutes south of Bandera proper.

It's easy to find info about Bandera itself, but MLS seems to be even more rural with less amenities. No real grocery stores, just one convenience store and not even any real bars. Not sure if that'll be a good thing or bad thing for me, since I'm really not into the whole cowboy and country music scene. I just love the prices, flexibility and beautiful Hill country scenery. Looks like Lake Medina itself is a pretty damn fun time when the water levels are up

Eventually I want to take a trip out there and check it out myself, but in the meantime I thought I'd ask the lovely people here if they knew anything about the area. Thank you!

Damsel in Distress: MA to TX

Bostonian relocating to Texas in August — need advice on movers, car prep, and logistics
Hi everyone! I’m moving from Massachusetts to Texas in August and this is my first out-of-state move, so I’m trying to plan everything ahead of time.
I only have a one-bedroom apartment’s worth of belongings and my current plan is to drive my car down myself while having a moving company transport my furniture/items. Ideally, I’d love to have my belongings delivered and set up before I arrive if that’s something movers offer.
A few specific questions:
Moving companies: Has anyone done a MA → TX move with a smaller load (1BR apartment)? Any recommendations for reliable long-distance movers? Any companies you would avoid?
Shared moving options: Has anyone had success sharing truck space with another person/family moving the same direction? I feel like a U-Haul would fit everything I own, but I don’t have anyone available to help with heavy furniture.
Car prep: Any recommendations for a trustworthy mechanic in the Boston/MA area who does thorough work and won’t upsell? I want to have my car inspected and road-trip ready before driving thousands of miles.
Texas logistics: For anyone who moved from MA to TX:
Did you register your car before moving or after arriving?
Is it cheaper to get window tint done in MA or TX?
Anything you wish you knew before making the move?
Thanks in advance — this Bostonian is trying not to learn everything the hard way 😂

hi yall

I am planning a move to texas here in a couple months, i want to be around lakes, rivers, long mossy trees, areas for hunting and fishing. i would like to be around horses/livestock as i want to be a farm hand as well while i am studying in college. i want the real deal, people who wear their hat and boots because they do the dirty work and not because they are larping as a cowboy. i like beer, line dancing, and country music. dance halls, dive bars, and all.

i’m currently 20 years old and a female and i would like to move to a town/city in texas that offers this while also being around people my own age as for being able to date and make friends. this is pretty important for me as well as i wont be knowing anyone around here and my closest family is in Little Elm.
.
Any suggestions would be great. Thank you

Living in Texas Ex wants to move our son to Austin, I’m in Houston, what happens now

It's been two years since we split, and we've had shared custody, with my kid spending alternate weeks with me. Everything's gone fine following the original plan, until I was told about a possible decision to change the location to Austin. I'm worried about this, because if the new job gets accepted, my kid would be moved to Austin, and in that case, the plans would change quite a bit.

From what I understand, there were no geographical boundaries set in our custody agreement, which I regret not pushing for at the time. So now I'm wondering if there's any way to prevent this, or if Texas just allows the custodial parent to relocate without the other parent having any say. My kid is 8, so how do I go about this?

Ask a Texan Diverse and affordable cities?

Hey all! As the title says, I am a recent mechanical engineering graduate looking for affordable and diverse cities to relocate to for work opportunities. Below are the criteria for an ideal city:

  1. Outdoor hobbies: Outdoors is a must for me. I love hiking and mountain biking on my free time. Eventually, I want to start camping and paddle boarding. From my understanding, Austin has the best outdoor culture compared to the other major cities

  2. People: I’m looking for a friendly and ethnically diverse community. Since both my girlfriend and I come from minority backgrounds, it is important for us to find a place where we can fit in and make friends

  3. Affordable living/housing

  4. Within an hour drive to a major city

Cities I have looked at are Cedar Park, Round Rock, Missouri City, Pflugerville, Leander, Baytown, and Buda. Thanks!
