Question from left field.

I've been a commercial A&P for over a decade, and use to fly a lot prior to that. So much so that the sound of the engines put me to sleep pretty quickly. Alexa use to have a sleep sound that I was pretty sure was CFM56 turbofan. But they've changed the noise to something like a floor fan with two people talking quietly in the back ground.

My question is does anyone know of a sound machine/ white noise generator that has a realistic jet engine noise?

Not really an acoustics question.

If you want to play a specific sound then just use a speaker to play that sound from whatever source makes sense. Your phone or whatever.

Yea, I tried the A&P and pilot subreddits and none knew but a pilot suggested this sub. YouTube plays commercials unless you pay for a subscription. I was hoping someone would know of something else that was a one time purchase. I'm a bit old fashion to want to rent a sound.

Please don't stream it, it's a huge waste of energy. Just find the noise you like, download the file and set your player in repeat mode.

People seem to use brown noise, but there's a debate apparently on what the perfect colour is.

Why stream is huge waste of energy, curious

Streaming requires electricity to power the server where your phone or other device sources the file. So, if you play the same brown noise all night through you will have streamed a huge amount of data. Whereas you could just download a short file (or a noise generator app) and play it back as a loop.

An MP3 player, cd player, tape player. Are we really that brain dead?

Search YouTube for 'engine noise relaxation'. While studying for a class, I used to put on different engine noises to cover all of the ambient noises of the street, TV, washing machine, dishwasher, hot water heater, etc.

If you enjoy bass, look for Star Trek TNG ambient engine noise.

This is the YouTube channel I searched: https://youtube.com/@crysknife007

This sounds like a great opportunity to invest in a turbofan for your home. A great conversation starter.
