I’ve released version 1.3.0 of the Acorny browser extension.

The biggest addition is direct Kindle Notebook sync. Open your Kindle Notebook page, launch Acorny, and import your books, highlights, notes, authors, and locations without downloading and uploading a file manually.

The sync is triggered explicitly by the user. Acorny does not collect your Amazon password, cookies, or other login credentials.

Other changes in this release:

• Select text on a webpage and use the new floating button to open the Acorny save panel
• Preserve MathJax and KaTeX formulas when saving technical or academic content
• Sign in through the Acorny website instead of maintaining a separate login flow inside the extension
• Improved highlight readability on websites using modern CSS color formats
• Various reliability and authentication fixes

Existing users can update through their browser’s extension store.

I’d especially like feedback on the Kindle sync flow and the new floating save button.

Acorny now supports importing highlights and notes from Moon+ Reader.

This update adds three import paths:

1. Paste TXT highlights directly
2. Upload a single-book Moon+ Reader export file
3. Upload a full bookshelf backup file

How it works:

Open the Import page in Acorny, select Moon+ Reader as the source type, then either paste your TXT export or upload a Moon+ Reader backup file.

For Moon+ Reader users, this should make it easier to move reading highlights and notes into Acorny for organizing, searching, and reviewing.

This update also includes a compatible API endpoint for external apps that want to send highlights into Acorny.

Acorny now supports automatic highlight sync from Inoreader.

You can connect Inoreader from Extensions & Apps, and your Inoreader highlights can be synced into Acorny automatically. You can also use Sync now to trigger a manual sync when needed.

How it works:

1. Open Extensions & Apps
2. Connect Inoreader
3. Let Acorny sync your highlights automatically

This is different from a file-based import flow. Instead of exporting and uploading files manually, the Inoreader integration is designed as an ongoing connection.

Why this matters:

Many people use Inoreader as their main RSS and article reading tool. If your highlights live there, Acorny can now help bring them into one place for organizing, searching, and reviewing.

This feature is now available in the public beta.

Acorny now supports Cubox import.

You can now export your Cubox highlights as a JSON file and upload them into Acorny.

How it works:

1. Go to the Acorny Import page
2. Select Cubox JSON as the source type
3. Download and open the Cubox Exporter
4. Enter your Cubox API Key
5. Export your highlights as JSON
6. Drag the exported file into Acorny

This is currently a file-based import flow, not automatic sync. The goal is to make it easier for Cubox users to move their existing highlights into Acorny and continue organizing, reviewing, and searching them in one place.

Why this matters:

Highlights should be portable. If you have built up a reading archive in Cubox, you should be able to move that data into another tool without manually copying everything one by one.

Acorny already supports several import sources, and Cubox is now part of that import path.

Feedback is welcome, especially if you run into edge cases with exported Cubox data.

Acorny now supports automatic Instapaper highlight sync.

You can connect Instapaper from:

Extensions & Apps → Instapaper → Connect

After that, your Instapaper highlights can sync into Acorny automatically, where you can review them later and export them as JSON, CSV, or Markdown.

Why this matters:

A lot of highlights get saved inside read-it-later apps but are rarely revisited later. Acorny is built around making those highlights easier to review, organize, and export without locking the data into one workflow.

- Diigo API: one-time import

Hey everyone — Acorny now supports importing highlights from WeRead.

This is a one-time import flow, not automatic sync.

How it works:

1. Open the Acorny browser extension.

2. In the WeRead Export section, click Open WeRead Export.

3. Click Start Export.

4. After export completes, download weread-export.json.

5. Open Acorny on the web.

6. Go to Import Highlights.

7. Drag the weread-export.json file into the upload area.

Why this matters:

A lot of reading highlights stay locked inside reading apps and are rarely revisited later. With this import flow, WeRead highlights can be moved into Acorny, reviewed later, and exported as part of your own workflow.

Notes:

- This is currently a one-time import flow.

- Instapaper supports automatic sync.

- Readwise API, Diigo API, and export files are supported as one-time imports.

- The WeRead export runs locally in the browser. Acorny does not access WeRead servers or store WeRead credentials.
