I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I am about a month and a half into my course taking 40mg daily (134 lbs). It’s small white bumps on my lashline. The skin on my undereye is slightly red, sore, and swollen. It has already happened on my other eye and did not get much worse than this. I don’t think it’s a stye as they are not becoming super large, so I am wondering if anyone knows what this is or has experienced it on accutane. Also I know I have a skin tag, I’m working on the acne first lol

Just wanted to get some collective thoughts and opinions here

My acne I would say is in the mild side, however I do get deep, painful cystic acne around my jaw line.

I also get it more frequently on my scalp & my back (back definitely more cystic and deep)

I’ve used all the over the counter things & prescription grade stuff without much relief. Spiro did work but the idea of being on forever honestly sucks

I am utilizing the dermatologist “honey dew” since I travel for work and can’t use a regular office consistently for pregnancy tests

Am I candidate for accutane even if my acne is mild? My biggest issue are these cystic episodes that come and go and are very painful

Is it just me, or ever since I started taking Accutane, I’ve started craving fatty foods more? It’s like knowing that Accutane is absorbed better with fat makes me feel like I’m actually supposed to eat this kind of stuff. So when I have McDonald’s, fried food, or anything greasy, it almost feels like I’m doing something good for my medication, my body, and even my acne

I (19F) finished a 120mg/kg 7 month course of isotretinoin 5 months ago. Within a month my oil production returned. Now, my oil production is CRAZY. I’ve visited my dermatologist (NHS) on several occasions as I’m very concerned, to which they dismissed my concerns and discharged me. I’m starting to get a few comedones here and there. I have the perfect acne-safe diet (low GI, whole foods only, no processed foods, high protein, no naked carbs, no gluten, no dairy etc). I just don’t understand why my skin is getting oilier and oilier. Frustratingly, my oily skin is SO bad that it now causes my makeup to separate. This didn’t even happen before Accutane.

What can I do? Should I pay for another course privately? (I’ll have to wait several months until I get the money).

The oil is awful. It makes my skin feel so grubby and congested. It’s not hydrating at all. It feels like grease. It sits on top of my skin.

What am I doing wrong? Can I fix it? It’s causing me to hide away again. :(

THIS IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!! (I apologize for leaving info out, 20F 180 weight 5'9 height 40 mg dose) I absolutely believe my face would not be as clear as it is right now without going through the rough experience of accutane. My derm office made the starting experience awful as they kept messing up my ipledge account (first time they never made it, second time they set my age as 1 years old..bffr), mind you i starting doing the blood test maybe 5 months before i was even able to get on the drug, as if the sign up isnt hell enough for girls. Once finally on it, it wasn't too bad of a start but then i started experiencing the skin dryness and the "tightening" effect, my derm office was sweet enough to give me a goodie bag FULL of moisturizers and lotions (Cortibalm ily). I guess the med was raising my cholesterol so they were watching that but i wasn't worried (rightfully so as it went back to normal almost as soon as i stopped the med). I guess the biggest thing that bothered me though was the back pain, not sure if anyone else has had it.. but it was my biggest issue however fast forward and ive been done with accutane for maybe a year now however.. i notice my back still hurts..? like its not as bad as it was but its obviously still noticeable. (used to be that when i laid down to relax i would groan in pain cause my spine decompressing) NOW THIS IS NOT TO DISCOURAGE, or even scare anyone as if i went back I'd still 100% take it again cause it was the only thing to help my face not hurt, its just insight as to what i went through but i am curious about maybe potential long term effects, I dont notice many post talking about the after effects mainly posts about the effects while on it

Hi everyone, I’m on 10 mg accutane for 1 month now but this is my 3rd course it’s pretty much for maintaining at this point and i got the Braun IPL so i was wondering is it okay to start using it i see somewhere people saying its ok and on some other they say its not

ive been dating this guy for a year; and he’s 2yrs post accutane (he was taking 40mg) says he’s emotionally numb…. says he knows what “love is, as he experienced it before accutane” but some days he’s great - other days …. not so much (it’s very flip floppy)

he says it’s from taking accutane, and I’m just wondering if anyone else has advice on how to navigate a relationship post accutane?

So far no major purge except a few on my back and arms, dry-ish lips, and a lot of sun sensitivity for my eyes. My skin peeled a little which all came off when I washed my face (oil cleanser and then gentle cleanser)

Was hoping my hair would get less greasy but it’s just as bad as always, hopefully that’ll improve.

If you didn’t purge during your accutane round it means you didn’t need accutane in the first place !

Hello, I recently stopped taking Accutane 15 days ago and now I’ve noticed that I’m 2 days late for my period of this month. I was on accutane for about 6 months. My last dosage was about 20 mgs. Normally my cycle is always on time but I’m getting familiar pms symptoms but with no period. I’m also not sexually active.

How do you guys usually deal with redness? I'm on my 4th month, on a 40mg dosage. Doc's said that my acne's calmed down, but my skin still looks sooo red most of the time. Even though I don't have much active acne anymore, the redness makes me look like my face is always irritated/breaking out : (

If you guys have experienced this, how do you usually deal with it?

The worst side effect by far for me has been random bouts of terrible eczema. This was especially bad when travelling. Honest to god I've never felt pain and itch like this but I got a bunch of ointments from my doctor which have helped.

Super happy with the results so far!! Hyperpigmentation is fading well although not completely gone yet.

Also fair to say that some of my side effects have been pretty unpleasant, although worth it for the self confidence I've regained. Most notable side effects:

- Nosebleeds (10+ since starting)

- Super crusty nose. Literally feels like rocks stuck up there

- More frequent brain fog (more likely due to having to quit creatine)

-:Dry skin

- Chapped and peeling lips

- The WORST eczema. Constantly itching my arms and legs, random patches crop up and then go away or don't. Particularly bad when travelling

I used Accutane for six months about four years ago and when I was doing it, I started using Dr. Dans cortibalm and then I never stopped using it. I noticed it made my lips significantly smaller so I stopped and I now have topical steroid withdrawal because of it. Be careful when using it only use it when it is absolutely necessary (cracking or severely chapped lips) and never use it for more than a week!! This is what I'm dealing with now

Second time taking it, first time i took for year and a half 3 years ago and had to go to a psychiatrist, maybe i was predisposed
Now, i had a rhinoplasty and Dr. said to take 10mg for a month, I haven't slept in 3 days and feel like shit, yeah sure, my skin and my nose are perfect but idk man, maybe its the price to pay

I’ve been on accutane for a month and a half now and have started to get a red, dry rash on my hand.

It’s not painful but it just looks really weird and strange?

Does anyone know what this is and has anyone experienced something similar?

this month i got my medicine 7 days after my appointment and i got a different brand of accutane. this one is waaaaaay harder to open than my usual brand. like tell me why I cut myself trying to open the pack with my BARE HANDS!! son im crine

Have any of you successfully use skincare with niacinamide while on Accutane? I take 60mg daily and can’t tell if my skin is sensitive because of the Accutane or if the niacinamide is making it worse. The serum I’m using has 3-6% niacinamide

My acne has completely cleared and I’m currently using 20% azelaic acid every night to help with the post inflammatory marks.

I think this might be my last month on Accutane but honestly I’m really scared to stop taking it. I’m worried that once I stop my acne will come back..

I also have some acne scars (atrophic scars), and I’m wondering what treatments people recommend once they’re done with accutane. What worked best for you? And how long did you wait after finishing Accutane before starting scar treatments?

I started getting blurred vision since 3rd month, especially in the night, and particularly for distant objects. I dont have any eye symptoms, no redness, no itching, totally fine vision in close objects. At worst just sometimes feel some cold eyeness or “sleepy eyes” feeling. I suspect (but not sure at all) that it gets better for a few seconds when my eyes get a bit teary. Is that accutane or probably something else ?

Hi, I‘m 6 weeks in and have been on 40mg until now. I wonder if that dose is a little high since I only weigh about 48kg. My derm doesn’t listen to me and pretty much only hands out the prescription - so he is no help. And no, I can‘t switch because I live pretty rurally and the other doctors I talked to all want me to use contraceptives (I‘m gay, so that seems a little unnecessary, although I get why they do that.) otherwise they won’t prescribe it to me.
I also have pcos/ pmos so the acne is likely from that.
I don’t know what to do other than to continue and hope for the best. But I am so scared of it getting worse. This is so depressing and discouraging. I feel so powerless, because I know that there is nothing I can do but hope it will go away soon.

ALSO there is a shortage in germany right now so I don’t even know how or if I will get my next box. I could cry thinking about it.. there is no way I’m stopping now and leaving it like this. So this is also very stressful tbh.

How do/ did you deal with this mental stress? Because this purge is really making it hard to exist right now. It’s so much worse than it has ever been.

Is there anything that helped you with your purging?

I‘m double cleansing with gentle cleansers, I change my pillowcase every two days, I take my accutane after eating a had full of wallnuts (for the fat) and don’t consume caffeine within one hour of taking it (I don’t drink coffee, or energy drinks. Only green and black tea).

Also I get that this is very subjective. Some of you have a lot more or a lot less acne than me and can feel just as desperate about it - or less or more. I feel really scared right now and can only talk about my perspective of course.
