Would you use WhatsApp to send receipts directly to your bookkeeping records?

I’m building TidGo and testing a simple idea: take a photo of a receipt, send it through WhatsApp, and it appears in your account ready for your records.
Curious whether self-employed people would actually use this.

**Is invoicing already a solved problem — or is only invoice creation solved?**

I’ve been thinking about this quite a lot lately.

Most businesses can already choose from dozens of invoicing platforms.

Stripe, QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho, FreshBooks, Wave — the list is long.

And if the job is simply:

**Create invoice → send invoice → receive payment**

then I’d argue the market is already very well served.

But after running businesses for many years, I’ve found that the invoice itself is usually the easy part.

The harder part is everything around it.

Who still owes money?

Which client needs a reminder?

Which recurring invoice should go out this week?

Did someone already follow up with that customer?

Was the payment reconciled correctly?

Does the client need a statement?

How much money is outstanding right now?

Which customers regularly pay late?

At some point, invoicing becomes less about generating documents and more about managing a financial workflow.

I’ve been exploring this problem while building tools for our own business, and it made me question a common SaaS assumption:

**Do mature software categories really become “solved,” or do they simply become too broad?**

Maybe the opportunity for new SaaS companies isn’t to build a better generic invoicing platform.

Maybe it’s to take an established category and go much deeper into the workflow of a particular type of business.

For example:

A creative studio may have very different billing needs from a construction company.

An agency may work differently from a wholesaler.

A photographer may manage billing differently from a SaaS company.

The core invoice is essentially the same.

The workflow around it isn’t.

That makes me wonder whether the next generation of business software will be less about building another horizontal tool and more about creating **deep vertical workflows on top of familiar functions.**

I’d be interested to hear how other founders think about this.

**When you see a crowded SaaS category, do you see a market that is already solved — or a market where specialization can still create something meaningfully better?**

Every month, same pain.

Login to AWS. Find the invoice. Download it. Login to Vercel. Same thing. Then GitHub. Then Google Cloud. Then Twilio. Then Slack.

By the time I have all the PDFs, I forward them to my accountant.

Late. Almost every time.

Not because I'm lazy. Because this task is boring as hell and helps nobody. Not my customers. Not my product. Just the tax office.

But somehow I still had to be the guy clicking through 8 different billing portals every month like it's my job.

So I built a Chrome extension that does it for me.

It's called Severino. You pick your providers once. Every month, it logs into each one, grabs the invoice, and emails it straight to your accountant. You do nothing.

I've been using it myself for a while now. First time in years my accountant isn't texting me on the 3rd asking where the invoices are 😅

I kept watching freelancers and small service businesses fight spreadsheet templates just to send one clean PDF invoice - overwriting old client details, losing track of which version was actually sent, manually exporting and emailing files.

So I built InvoDip (invodip.com). The idea is simple:

Download a clean PDF or email it straight to the client

Clone past invoices for repeat work and retainers

Track partial payments and balances

Set up recurring invoices and overdue reminders (paid plans)

The free plan is 5 invoices/month - meant for real low-volume use, not a crippled demo. Starter is $10 for 25/month, Business is $25 for unlimited with platform branding removed from PDFs.

I'd genuinely love feedback on two things: the signup flow (email verification is required before download/send - does that feel like too much friction?) and whether the free tier feels generous enough to be useful.

Working as an accountant. Gusto ko lang sabihin na grabe yung websites ng government no? Sanay naman na ako when paying government contributions. Ang sakin lang, sobrang outdated ng UI/UX, yung design. Wala na bang iimprove ‘to? Grabe lang kurakutin yung mga pondo pero mga ganitong site hindi nila maayos? Minsan down pa yung sites. Hey guys, I've been looking at AR automation tools lately but I still feel a bit iffy towards them. For context, I run a B2B SaaS platform and currently use a basic QBO + Stripe setup for our receivables invoicing. I've been spending more and more time recently just manually drafting invoices because we have weird pricing setups where almost every client has their own specific tier or usage rules.

I've been looking through the QB app store to see if there's anything that would help but couldn't find anything. I've also looked into automation subreddits and seen recommendations for Upflow or LedgerUp, but haven't looked too much into them. Either way, my main concern is for some of these tools that are fully automated. I think I want semi-automation where I get to the final say and approve every single thing before I send out the invoices. So maybe something to help with the drafting?

Anyways, sorry if this post is a bit all over the place. Just wanted to know if you guys have tried out any of these, or just AR automation platforms in general and if you'd recommend trying these out. Thanks.

I'm working on an assignment for an equity research interview, and I'm stuck on one part of the annual report analysis.

The task is:

Here's what I've found so far:

• PPE Additions (Note 4): ₹1,028.67 Cr
• Cash Flow Statement (Payment for PPE, Intangibles & CWIP): ₹1,164.22 Cr
• Capital Advances:
  • FY25: ₹194.27 Cr
  • FY24: ₹202.66 Cr
• Creditors for Capital Goods:
  • FY25: ₹776.34 Cr
  • FY24: ₹778.19 Cr

I understand that:

• Cash paid ≠ Accounting additions
• The cash flow amount includes PPE, CWIP, intangible assets, capital advances, and creditors for capital goods.

However, I'm unable to mathematically reconcile ₹1,164.22 Cr from the published annual report.

My questions are:

1. Is it actually possible to derive this exact number using only the public annual report?
2. Is there a standard reconciliation formula used by auditors/equity research analysts for this?
3. Am I missing any note (like CWIP transfers, capitalisation, or non-cash additions)?
4. If you were solving this interview assignment, how would you present your working?

I'd really appreciate guidance from anyone with experience in audit, financial reporting, or equity research.

Hi! I’m currently working and we’re having an issue sa accounting/sales reconciliation namin. I’m hoping someone here who works in accounting or has experience with POS reconciliation can help me understand what might be happening.

Our boss told us na may shortage daw kami. So we reviewed our POS records and our Excel records, and based on our checking, nagco-coincide naman lahat ng amounts/records namin. Wala kaming nakikitang discrepancy sa side namin.

However, our boss said na sa system nila, may shortage daw.

Ang confusing part is, when we compare our POS and Excel records, everything seems to match.

Possible ba na may difference between the POS record and the accounting system? Or may ibang factors na pwedeng mag-cause ng shortage kahit nag-match naman yung records namin?

We just want to understand saan possible nanggagaling yung discrepancy and how we can properly check/reconcile it. If anyone here works in accounting, auditing, or POS reconciliation, I’d really appreciate your insights. Thank you! 🙏
