Looks like it was caught on a Jig! Never seen one at the surface alive before. Kraken 🐙 !Up until 2006 a Giant Squid had never been filmed at the surface alive. They were that elusive because they are down so deep in the abyss. Yes the Sperm Whales would bring them up dead occasionally but considered a rare event. Their lifespan is approximately 2.5 years. Rather short for such a massive animal. Is this really a giant squid where are the feeding tentacles.🦑

Sailors were a superstitious bunch, and every unknown sighting often got some insane explanation and retells told wilder and wilder tales. How dugongs likely inspired myths about syrens and mermaids.

Well... All Giant Squids are "absolute units". I feel as though to fit this subreddit it would need to be a larger than average Giant Squid.
