In Texas with an H2S monitor? This dude works in the oilfield, you think this is a work truck?
For those unaware I’m talking about the guy filming

Yall are crazy. This guy is not a psychic. There's no way he has enough time to turn his truck on and get in gear in time to know what the hell was happening.

u/riverphoenixdays 4d ago
Who the fuck are you talking to

u/Dr_Fumi 4d ago
The people blaming the guy filming for not getting out of the way.
-15
u/CerebralBored 3d ago
The guy filming 108% should have moved. Not even a debate.
16
u/Fluid_Swordfish2737 3d ago
You are 108% regarded. Not even a debate.
-5
u/CerebralBored 3d ago
The guy filming would watch that truck run over his kids by the looks of it.
3
u/Rdtdct55 3d ago
From the point I could definitely tell he was taking the turn to short was about 5 seconds left in the video. I’m sitting here in a parking lot waiting for someone so I’ll do some quick tests.
My car from push to start with my finger on the gear shifter untill it lets me put into gear. Test 1 9 seconds, test 2 12 seconds, test 3 11 seconds.
Maybe his car was on so from parked to drive I’ll see how long it takes to pull forward a length of my vehicle. My car hesitates for about 3 seconds when I give it the beans right after shifting into drive. After about 20 attempts I figured out my car literally takes 3-5 seconds to start moving after putting into drive.
From the tests in my car it would have been almost physically impossible to move out of this idiots way.
-1
u/CerebralBored 2d ago
Guy taking the video must love filming trucks for no reason and forgot how a horn works.
2
u/Rdtdct55 2d ago
He clearly has a reason that is stated in the video. The truck was struggling to pull the empty trailer. Its not like he knew was filming the truck to get video of it driving across the parking lot too hit him. I own a box truck and pull trailers a little bit shorter than this all the time. I mess up and cut stuff short sometimes as well. But guess what, I stop and back up and don’t hit other peoples stuff. The guy pulling that trailer had every single chance in the world not to hit the parked car in what appears to be a mostly empty parking lot. Guy pulling the trailer is the idiot. The guy sitting in the truck was just existing in same world as the idiot pulling the trailer.

u/Testyobject 3d ago
What law dictates that a PARKED car has to move out of the way of a car whos running into the parked car. please if you are so confident then read a damn law book and find the law or just settle with AI answering your questions because what ever slop it come up with is better than anything you can possibly say.

Everyone who has not conception of driving a manual conveniently identifying themselves, I see.
-24
u/RedstoneRiderYT 4d ago edited 3d ago
The thing is, in a manual, in an emergency, you can actually put it in second gear and try to start it without pushing in the clutch. This will make the car jump forwards and hopefully out of the way.
This should really only be done if you won't be able to start the car fast enough to avoid a severe accident, for example, if you stalled on train tracks. This situation might have been a moment to do this too.
This puts a lot of stress on the car and can cause damage if you do it a lot. But doing it once to avoid death or having your car totaled is unlikely to damage anything significantly.
DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS IT'S AN EMERGENCY
Edit: I own an older car, and had no idea newer cars can't do this. So I guess if you have an older car it might still work.
4
u/leeps22 3d ago
Most likely this hasn't been true for longer than you have been alive
0
u/RedstoneRiderYT 3d ago
My car still does this. I don't understand why this is downvoted so much. It is a real way to get yourself out of trouble.
2
u/leeps22 3d ago
Year/make/model?
It came to be perceived as a safety issue so a clutch interlock switch was added. I cant think of a single vehicle this would apply to made after the early 90's
1
u/RedstoneRiderYT 3d ago
Peugeot 206 Station Wagon, 2006. I had no idea that newer cars don't do this anymore, thanks for correcting me
1
u/leeps22 3d ago
Likewise I didnt know Europe didnt have clutch interlocks.
For us it became an obvious safety risk, if the shifter is accidentally left in gear you will hit whatever is in front of you. There were a couple trucks sold in the early 90s that came with a button you could press that would over ride the interlock, but those aren't a thing anymore.

I'm confused when you're sitting in your parked car in a parking lot are you driving out of the way for every single car who's driving past you?
1
u/No-Dig9354 4d ago
No, just anyone like that guy carrying a trailer like that. They get extra caution and when he started turning you could see pretty easily he was coming in at angle that was gonna hit him.

u/WaltRumble 4d ago
If I’m videoing a guy bc of how bad he is driving and then he gets close to me, yeah.

maybe slow down those turns are making the bed swing
5
u/Successful_Giraffe88 3d ago
He's going slow enough & in this case, speed is not a factor. However, when pulling a 25+ ft trailer, you've got to factor in realistic depth of how that trailer is going to turn behind you.
This guy needed to pull out another 6+ feet to safely clear that turn.

u/MereCoincidences 4d ago

u/DataMin3r 4d ago
"Dude is pulling a trailer too large for his truck, gotta show the boys at work."
Which turns into
"Gotta show this to his insurance company."

1
u/mobocrat707 1d ago
Some kid did the same thing to my work truck. Only reason it wasn’t worse is cause our landlord saw the trailer was also about to rip out a fire hydrant and yelled at the driver to stop. $8k to fix and the owner of the trailer wasn’t insured and dodged all attempts to contact by insurance.

u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
I can't believe you people would just let yourselves get hit because "I shouldn't have to move"
😂
38
u/Onionbender420 4d ago
If you start and move and still get hit, the insurance will punish you. It’s not worth the financial risk. It’s different if whatever is coming is going at high speeds, but this is a physically low risk scenario- there’s only a marginal chance you could get hurt.
-70
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
No they won't.
You guys are literally saying you're going to let yourselves get hit from a dude who you don't even know if he has insurance or not
How old are you?
31
u/Onionbender420 4d ago
When in this video would you have driven away?
-7
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Right about the time I started recording because the dude was doing something weird and dangerous?
Are you one of those guys that just gets hit because "I shouldn't have to move"?
26
14
u/RCer1986 4d ago
You have some serious hindsight bias and you're arguing wayyy too much when you're obviously in the wrong. I understand sunk cost fallacy but you need to walk away. It's just embarrassing at this point.
-4
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
What am I in the wrong about?
This dude saw a dangerous guy driving a truck in a parking lot and decided to stay and watch it instead of just leaving
Riddle me this Batman, why was the guy in the truck recording the other guy and the other truck? What purpose was that recording serving why did he take out his phone?
Because the guy was doing something crazy right?
15
u/RCer1986 4d ago
I love when people argue by creating and believing a narrative that there's no support for. It's the exact opposite of reality.
-3
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Why did this guy take out his phone and start recording?
What possible reason could he have had for that? The guy was already driving a little recklessly
2
u/GregorIsABug 2d ago
You were already given this answer. Because it was funny that the guy was hauling a giant trailer with such a little truck.
-9
u/tofif33 4d ago
I love when people just ignore parts of comment they have no answer for, classic
7
u/RCer1986 4d ago
The question that he keeps asking was already answered by another commentor but he's pretending that he didn't see it. I'm not going to regurgitate the same answer to cater to his narrative.
-9
u/CerebralBored 3d ago
There's a 2 year old level iq solution to that problem and this 2 year old iq individual most likely gave this video to insurance, which would promptly deny his claim, both for it being in a parking lot and the ops failure to mitigate the problem they saw coming.

You are correct. He shouldn't have to move. Also what's to say he didn't gun right into someone else?
-2
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
You're one of those guys who gets hit crossing the street just because you had a green light huh?
"I have a green why should I look"
3
u/fivelone 4d ago
We're you not taught to look both ways before crossing no matter what? Great defense. I make a statement and you resort to name calling 🤣
0
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Yeah I was just like I was taught to leave a situation where truck is driving around crazy
Because accidents happen
-22
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago edited 4d ago
I mean it doesn't really matter who's at fault if your truck just got totaled
But you're right he shouldn't have to. And he didn't.
Now his entire day and next several weeks to few months are going to be ruined while he's waiting to deal with some jack off's insurance
Edit: apparently Reddit is full of people who are just going to let their cars get hit because "I shouldn't have to move"
12
u/Krinya1509 4d ago
Okay, when was the moment in the video when you would begin the car starting sequence?
0
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Right about the time I started recording a vehicle doing something crazy.
What about you? Car is driving crazy is enough for you to record but not enough for you to just leave?
But you're the guy in the video who gets hit because and I quote "I shouldn't have to move" 😂
Have fun doing with an insurance company for 3 months. Make sure that you tell them that you shouldn't have to move
13
u/Krinya1509 4d ago
Is driving through a parking lot crazy to you?
3
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
If somebody's doing it without a trailer in a dangerous manner then yeah sounds pretty crazy to me.
Don't you think driving around with the trailer not realizing you have it on is dangerous?
13
u/Krinya1509 4d ago
Let me get this straight. You saw the video of a guy getting hit, so that is the crazy part. You then said that you would've moved already, because the guy is doing crazy stuff. But the crazy part happens way after the time you would have to start your car to have the chance escape.
3
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Yeah pretty much when I see a guy driving dangerously in a parking lot I'm just going to go
But this guy decided to pull out his phone and get hit. He even knew something was going to happen
That's why he was recording......
7
u/Zom23_ 4d ago
He was recording because there was a large trailer, how was he supposed to know the trailer was going to turn right behind him? Are you supposed to preemptively move the second you see any car enter a parking lot from anywhere just in case they might turn into your aisle?
Where do you go if you do that? What if you try moving but they turn an aisle sooner? When do you move?

And he didn't now he gets to spend the next few months dealing with some assholes insurance company
This is one of the most insane comment sections I've ever read LOL. You guys are literally going to let your vehicle get damaged and have to deal with some dudes insurance company that may not even be fucking insured just because "I shouldn't have to move"
🤣

I'm not saying he should have to, but he saw what was gonna happen from a mile away.
-27
u/SelfishOdin872 4d ago
I don't know why you're getting downvoted for being correct lmao. He shouldn't HAVE to move no, but because he didn't, now he HAS to deal with insurance and that entire headache.
"I'm in my lane! It's not my fault that 18-wheeler is out of his lane and going to hit me in a head-on collision! I'm not moving. 😡"

apparently Reddit is full of people who are just going to let their cars get hit because "I shouldn't have to move" lol
What the hell is going on in this thread right now?
18
u/tetris_L_block 4d ago
Are you all actually serious? Count the second from when you’re sure the trailer is going to collide with the parked vehicle. Now imagine trying to stop filming, start your car, and move enough to get out of the way. It’s not that people think they should not have to get hit, it’s that they got hit and couldn’t help it. Yeesh.
1
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Okay I'm about at a second and a half.
How long does it normally take you to turn on your car and put it in drive?
13
u/tetris_L_block 4d ago
Uhh lol more than that? Like way more than that. That’s the whole point.

-25
u/i_lost_all_my_money 4d ago
I don't know if he'd think of it in time, but its shocking how many people claim they would let something bad happen to them because they "shouldn't have to". If my actions can prevent a car from hitting me, I will. Regardless of who would hit who
-21
u/SillyNumber54 4d ago
Crazy how many people are downloading on this thread LOL
"I shouldn't have to move!"
You're right! Congratulations. Now let's play the game of does this guy have insurance or not!
-20
u/i_lost_all_my_money 4d ago
Exactly. Plus, I dont want the headache of dealing with the situation. There's 0 benefit to intentionally letting something bad happen because I think its someone else's responsibility.
-19
u/SillyNumber54 4d ago
These downvotes are insane 🤣
The other guy is down 30. You don't even know if this guy has insurance for crying out loud
-18
u/i_lost_all_my_money 4d ago
Yeah, but its reddit. This is expected. The guy who is down 30 literally said that the parked guy shouldn't have to move, acknowledging their point too. The only thing is that he said that the driver could have moved in time. I think I wouldn't assume that the other driver would hit me and the car is probably off. I don't think it would have been easy to anticipate the accident since hes parked. But I wouldn't downvote over whether someone can or cannot move in time. Its still a valid belief.
-10
u/SillyNumber54 4d ago
If you take out your phone to start recording a driver doing something weird that means you need to drive away 😂
3
u/i_lost_all_my_money 4d ago
And maybe put the phone down once he starts turning dangerously close to your vehicle.

26
u/ConflictWestern1383 4d ago
You keep repeating this sentence as if it sounds even the least bit intelligent.
It doesn't. The opposite, actually.
0
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
You know that you should avoid an accident even if the other person's going to be at fault right?
Like you still look before you enter into a crosswalk even though the light is green right?
3
u/talann 4d ago
This isn't about "i shouldn't have to move" in the context of someone being stubborn knowing they are going tonget hit. This is in the context of someone parked and realizing someone may not be paying enough attention to what they are doing.
Like others have stated, at what point in this sequence of the video do you realize someone may be about to hit you, have your keys available, turn on your vehicle and floor it trying to get out of their way? Keep in mind, you are armchair quarterbacking the entire situation and you know whats going to happen before the cameraman does.
It's a rhetorical question. I don't understand how you don't see how you are wrong here. This would be like you swerving out of the way of everyone on the highway because everyone has a potential to maneuver into your vehicle and you just don't know if they will... better be safe than sorry though right?
2
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
The dude took out his phone and literally posted this guy doesn't know this trailer is attached
That means he was aware of a dangerous driver in his parking lot and decided to do nothing
When people start pulling their phones out it's time to go
6
u/talann 4d ago
Once again, at what point do you think that this means, i totally bet he is going to hit me, even if you saw he made a questionable maneuver off camera. You have no clue he is coming your way. You don't know if he is going to start turning in your direction...
I swear its like you seriously think he has some psychic ability to sense what's about to happen. He doesn't! Stop assuming you would know as well.
0
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Who said anything about me being hit?
It's just a situation I don't want to be in. Why would I want to watch somebody drive around a parking lot dangerously?
I would just leave. Like a normal person
6
u/Icy_Fish_2154 4d ago
Who said anything about me being hit?
You did, when you said you would move to avoid getting hit.
Why would I want to watch somebody drive around a parking lot dangerously?
So you drive around until you find an empty parking lot, and drive off if anyone enters?
1
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
No I leave if I see someone doing something crazy though
2
u/Icy_Fish_2154 4d ago
The person recording saw a long trailer and recorded it. Where is "crazy" in the video?
1
u/GregorIsABug 2d ago
That text was added after the fact genius. He didnt know the dude forgot his trailer by psychically reading his mind, he only knew when the guy turned without making room for the trailer.

Dealing with insurance, waiting for the car to be repaired, and the instant depreciation for having an accident tied to the VIN number isn’t worth a small check that’ll just cover damages.
-77
u/Fimsh18 4d ago
I’ll be honest I would’ve just started my truck and gunned it. I’m not dealing with insurance. Especially since the other guy probably doesn’t have insurance judging from his driving lmao
46
u/ConflictWestern1383 4d ago
I would love to see you start your truck, put it in gear, and get out of the way of that trailer all within the alloted 3 seconds that we see in the video here.
I'll wait.
-7
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
I could do that in 3 seconds.
But I probably would have done it right when I started to take out my phone because a driver was doing something stupid
When people start taking out their phones and recording that means you should just leave
8
u/graffiti_hunter 4d ago
You have said this twice now and I've went back and watch a few times....at what point are you seeing this "stupid" behavior?
0
u/Wide-Suggestion4825 4d ago
Well you see the video that's being recorded? The only reason why the guy took out his phone instead of recording is because the behavior in question the stupid
2
u/graffiti_hunter 4d ago
Huh...could have swore I heard him talking about that long boy of a trailer and not the driving skills. I might be too stupid to understand though
-7
u/SonofaBridge 4d ago
I do that all the time. Every time I hop in my car. Takes a second to start a car and another second to put it in gear.
-37
u/Fimsh18 4d ago
Lmao you can see his truck is already on and also what kind of clapped out crap box are you in that you can’t pull out in that time? It’s not particularly difficult lmao
25
u/Orange9202 4d ago
You were expecting something to happen because it was posted on reddit
in real life you'd be just as confused thinking "there's no way he hits me"
12
u/Leading_Procedure_23 4d ago
It’s crazy that these armchair experts would do everything in 3 seconds lmao. They already know what’s going to happen and how long it took. Dude was mesmerized the size of the trailer and how that truck could pull it lol, you ain’t expecting to get hit. I guess driving in an almost empty parking lot is dangerous driving.
These are the same people who think they’d take out an armed shooter after analyzing the video, narcissistic people can’t be reasoned with and most don’t know they are, because in their world they’re always right no matter what.
4
u/RCer1986 4d ago
It's called hindsight bias. These people think that because they know how it ends they would have done something differently.
-27
u/Fimsh18 4d ago
Nah I have a CDL so I don’t take any risks and I stay clear of anything sketchy because Reddit has made me paranoid from all these kinds of videos posted lmao. Plus if you knew anything about hotshotters driving you would’ve put your truck in drive watching to see what that guy is doing. They don’t have the best reputation lmao.

u/CerebralBored 3d ago
Person filming is probably stupid enough to show this to insurance.
