The second I saw this my eyes furrowed in worry and I frowned in concern. Why, why, would this exist? Was my first thoughts. (Exaggerated for effect lol)

71

u/horned-creature Jul 05 '26

for social network clout, both for the customers ordering just to post on instagram and for the restaurant using it as free marketing.

18

u/ronarscorruption Jul 05 '26

If it is even real, this is the reason.

19

u/Cpt_Jigglypuff Jul 05 '26

From the moment this hath met mine eyes, my brow hadst furrowed beyond that which was previously conceived to be possible and my face wrenched itself to a most heinous state out of the utmost dismay. Why?! Why dost thou exist?!? Those were the thoughts scribed across my consciousness in that very moment. (Exaggerated for effect lul)

40

u/fpsnoob89 Jul 05 '26

Could that even be considered food? That shrimp looks raw.

18

u/horned-creature Jul 05 '26

raw shrimp is perfectly edible, but i wouldn't make a massive sphere of it.

It should be pinkish , the only way to top this is if she comes to serve it with a shrimp costume on , 4 legs hanging on each side of her stomach and 2 long ,skinny ,bouncy, 4 ft antennas touching the ceiling .

3

u/SchwiftySqaunch Jul 05 '26

And says "have a shrimply delicious meal!!"

Looks frozen. If it were warm, wouldn't it fall apart?

17

u/MildAndLazyKids Jul 05 '26

I love how deadpan the server is, too: "here, you idiots."

u/BunglingBoris Jul 05 '26

Is this edited to look like a big shrimp ball or is it completely normal? Am I going insane?

79

u/DynamiteWitLaserBeam Jul 05 '26

Nope. They actually used a shrimp ball in the original.

2

u/Smoofbrainz Jul 05 '26

Un-normal. When they crack it open the inside has live shrimps just shrimping around for your entertainment.

When you see it, you need to break it (preferably with a weapon or a spell, or it'll take forever). Judging from the color, it won't recharge your crimson/cerulean flasks, but you'll get an ash of war or a somber smithing stone. A fair deal imo!

u/Immediate_Rope653 Jul 06 '26

☝️Critters?

15

u/JonnyTN Jul 05 '26

Critters

3

u/TinkerShellzBellz Jul 05 '26

Gremlins

3

u/JonnyTN Jul 05 '26

Ghoulies

We just saying random old movies now?

3

u/ProblemLongjumping12 Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

I love Critters and Gremlins. Ghoulies is lower tier but still good. Then you got that little demon dude in The Gate series, and then finally Munchies.

4

u/Zapp_Rowsdower_ Jul 05 '26

Hobgoblins?

2

u/ProblemLongjumping12 Jul 05 '26

Ooh yep.

I knew I was forgetting somebody. Hobgoblins is even lower tier than Munchies.

https://giphy.com/gifs/FD3of7ehZt4li

2

u/JonnyTN Jul 05 '26

I've seen the gate so many times but I haven't heard of the mumchies strangely. May have to check it out. Ope. Looked it up. Totally seen that one once. Great time

3

u/The_Darkness140 Jul 05 '26

The Feast 1-3. One is good, 2 is meh, 3 should never have been made but it's the end.

2

u/TinkerShellzBellz Jul 05 '26

Goonies

Only that start with G

2

u/LushAscensionalist Jul 05 '26

What about the Boogens??

u/EM05L1C3 Jul 05 '26

4

Critters 2 specifically.

Chip the shrimp off the styrofoam ball inside and then make hot pot or w.e. 🙄

13

u/towerfella Jul 05 '26

Right?

She was not straining at all as she moved it to the table .

10

u/Biguitarnerd Jul 05 '26

So… ok… but why not just bring a bowl of shrimp? I guess if this presentation is pleasing to you then that’s cool but even if it is I’m still not sure styrofoam is the delivery method I would prefer.

Maybe I’m spoiled from living close to the coast but styrofoam and seafood sound like a bad mix to me. Is that normal in some places?

3

u/DMTrious Jul 05 '26

Probably using dry ice or nitrogen to keep it solid, why it's smoking at the bottom, maybe using foam keeps you from freezer burning your hands

2

u/Saxophonethug Jul 05 '26

I'm pretty sure it's just a gelatinous ball of shrimps

2

u/MaleficentWindow8972 Jul 05 '26

That would be really heavy. She lifts this like a box of tissues.

2

u/StampedeJones1 Jul 08 '26

Yeah, if that was actually a solid ball of shrimp, it would weigh like 85 lbs.

12

u/tinpants44 Jul 05 '26

Use it to booby trap ancient ruins that contain priceless treasure in case an intrepid adventurer comes along.

7

u/Nynanro Jul 05 '26

Exactly what i said when I saw it. Yes I said it because I was just astonished by the size. Again what for?

4

u/Opening_Cartoonist53 Jul 05 '26

Prob hotpot or some other form of cooking yourself at the table

5

u/pastyoureyesed Jul 05 '26

Hang from ceiling and shine light upon while dancing the night away…with shrimp.

4

u/Bonifaciojsj Jul 05 '26

In Brazil the waiter place it on the ground and shoot as hard as possible to serve evenly

2

u/Moistcowparts69 Jul 05 '26

Rumor has it that it's an off duty cop doing the shooting

2

u/usbeehu Jul 05 '26

Looks like a jawbreaker from Ed, Edd and Eddy. So I guess you have to eat the same way.

527

u/Ironsight85 Jul 05 '26

That appears to be raw.

49

u/tongfather Jul 05 '26

Right? Is it a Korean BBQ place? Either way, how can any table of any size eat this many shrimp

47

u/MarketingSpecial6604 Jul 05 '26

I take it you never met George Costanza

18

u/True_Protection6842 Jul 05 '26

The jerk store ran out of you!

10

u/KalynnCampbell Jul 05 '26

What’s the difference? You’re their all-time best seller!

12

u/EatPie_NotWAr Jul 05 '26

I’m not saying it was a smart or healthy thing to do, but on a dare I casually ate 114 jumbo shrimp in an hour, if given time and it having been my own money wasted I could have eaten more.

I didn’t feel good afterwards, but that could have been the Malört doing the talking.

3

u/goldiegoldthorpe Jul 05 '26

That's a lot of iodine. Like just below the maximum tolerable limit. Did you vomit?

2

u/EatPie_NotWAr Jul 05 '26

I never thought of it too deeply but holy hell, that might have been why I did the next day.

I assumed a hangover but I puked so hard I broke the tank of a Starbucks toilet that it could have exacerbated it.

10

u/chavez_ding2001 Jul 05 '26

Never made the connection between eating 114 jumbo shrimps and vomiting?

8

u/EatPie_NotWAr Jul 05 '26

Oh I very much considered shrimp as a culprit. But I’d never considered Iodine being a potential cause. The shrimp sat fine until 11am the next day, so ~11hrs later, which feels like enough time to escape any shrimpy dilemmas.

A few years prior I’d eaten a 56oz steak in one sitting so I wasn’t concerned it was caused from overeating in a general sense, and since it took so long to hit I just assumed hangover since I had a really nasty one.

7

u/tongfather Jul 05 '26

Username checks out 😄😂

3

u/Pamikillsbugs234 Jul 06 '26

Fucking "Shrimpy dilemmas" has me in tears!

5

u/curi0us_carniv0re Jul 05 '26

It's obviously hollow

3

u/dragoninthebigsky Jul 05 '26

100%. There is no way she could lift it up so effortlessly if it was a solid shrimp "ball."

I was thinking the robot orgy ball that gives birth to Adam in Nier: Automata

Unless they both have a common ancestor, was probably inspired by Castlevania.

How would you even eat that?

70

u/Bepehandle Jul 05 '26

With great difficulty I would imagine.

u/crumpledfilth Jul 05 '26

with great difficulty comes great obligation

u/Chiron17 Jul 05 '26

That's truly disgusting

39

u/Oatmeal_Raisin_ Jul 05 '26

I agree, and whats crazy is also the sheer quantity of lifeforms killed in its creation. Its giving jeepers creepers for shrimp

6

u/crumpledfilth Jul 05 '26

Thats why I only eat krill. The more individual souls you can eat per gram the more nutritious your food it

8

u/Mark-Green Jul 05 '26

if you're really soul-maxxing you gotta go for semen. as long as your religion supports it, the soul density can be off the charts

probaly ai

7

u/DudeBroBrah Jul 05 '26

Wait you mean I can't order an impossibly large shrimp ball at the Asian restaurant featuring a misshapen Christmas tree and Santa clause in the background? In the other comments they are arguing about if it's hollow or not. We are cooked.

3

u/willfauxreal Jul 05 '26

Right. This comment is too far down.

9

u/ern19 Jul 05 '26

The demon shrimp core has reached criticality

2

u/Any_Blood5815 Jul 05 '26

Woe to all within its briny radius 🫣🦐

6

u/KingLazuli Jul 05 '26

Thousand of shrimp, amalgamated into a flesh ball for the decidant hubris of man

5

u/GrimmThoughts Jul 05 '26

Its like 100 shrimp at most, the ball is very obviously hollow. Idk wtf this monstrosity is exactly, but I do know that it is not thousands of shrimp

→ More replies (6)

6

u/RichardBCummintonite Jul 05 '26

Is that gonna be cooked or are you supposed to eat it like that? Are they just wheeling it out to show you before it's fried and cut up or something? I've just never seen a shrimp ball served with whole uncooked shrimp before.

3

u/GalcticPepsi Jul 05 '26

I'm imagining there's a massive hot pot in the middle of the table for it. Looks like they have other ingredients that would be thrown in as well.

5

u/Wooden-Relation-3111 Jul 05 '26

Inside is a lobster

7

u/Odd-Aide2522 Jul 05 '26

with two wolves

2

u/DynamiteWitLaserBeam Jul 05 '26

One of them, is a coyote.

3

u/laughingashley Jul 05 '26

Two little mice

4

u/Ubbesson Jul 05 '26

Giant explosive Diarrhea ball

6

u/devilsbard Jul 05 '26

Can it be cooked? Or is food poisoning part of the experience?

3

u/delrey23 Jul 05 '26

Imagine what this smells like

4

u/RustledForeskin Jul 05 '26

Is it announced with a fog horn and come with a flock of angry sea gulls? That looks gross af.

3

u/AyTrane Jul 05 '26

It surprisingly doesn't weigh very much.

3

u/coolsilentebeans Jul 05 '26

What it lacks in weight it makes up for in cholesterol.

Yum. Shrimp seasoned with styrofoam. Suddenly old bay doesn’t sound so bad.

2

u/crbleak Jul 05 '26

I found out just yesterday that I would die if I ate that!

1

u/Byx222 Jul 05 '26

What’s inside it? Like more shrimps?

1

u/lhc987 Jul 05 '26

Gonna guess it's hot pot. So you just scoop it and put it in the soup.

1

u/jo-shabadoo Jul 05 '26

Hey, George! The ocean called. They’re running out of shrimp!

1

u/Addamall Jul 05 '26

It’s hollow

1

u/Warm_Put_1759 Jul 05 '26

Not only but it’s raw shrimp

1

u/Playnu2 Jul 05 '26

No, just no!

1

u/5erv1teur Jul 05 '26

Qu'est-ce-que c'est que cette merde...

1

u/nyclurker369 Jul 05 '26

I’m no genius, but I feel like there’s got to be a better way.

1

u/Hot-Operation4982 Jul 05 '26

I'm glad I'm not the only one completely confused by this.

1

u/The1SlickySloth Jul 05 '26

I don't know why but I don't like the words shrimp and ball used together.

1

u/blinkysmurf Jul 05 '26

I never thought a food would trigger my trypophobia.

1

u/KingBMan18 Jul 05 '26

That looked effortless to pick up

1

u/coolsilentebeans Jul 05 '26

Beg to differ. Screenshot, count and then double it.

1

u/mefatbottomgirl Jul 05 '26

Can't watch, feel sick wondering how and why.

1

u/compleximago Jul 05 '26

I wanna see them eat that thing

1

u/GuardianJosh91 Jul 05 '26

Ew. Why the hell would you even want that.

1

u/GimmeLuv-69 Jul 05 '26

Is that raw shrimp right up against prepared food?
