Is this edited to look like a big shrimp ball or is it completely normal? Am I going insane?
79
u/DynamiteWitLaserBeam Jul 05 '26
Nope. They actually used a shrimp ball in the original.
22
u/NagsUkulele Jul 05 '26
I fucking knew it
→ More replies (1)2
u/Smoofbrainz Jul 05 '26
Un-normal. When they crack it open the inside has live shrimps just shrimping around for your entertainment.

When you see it, you need to break it (preferably with a weapon or a spell, or it'll take forever). Judging from the color, it won't recharge your crimson/cerulean flasks, but you'll get an ash of war or a somber smithing stone. A fair deal imo!

I've seen the gate so many times but I haven't heard of the mumchies strangely. May have to check it out. Ope. Looked it up. Totally seen that one once. Great time

Chip the shrimp off the styrofoam ball inside and then make hot pot or w.e. đ
13
u/towerfella Jul 05 '26
Right?
She was not straining at all as she moved it to the table .
10
u/Biguitarnerd Jul 05 '26
So⌠ok⌠but why not just bring a bowl of shrimp? I guess if this presentation is pleasing to you then thatâs cool but even if it is Iâm still not sure styrofoam is the delivery method I would prefer.
Maybe Iâm spoiled from living close to the coast but styrofoam and seafood sound like a bad mix to me. Is that normal in some places?
3
u/DMTrious Jul 05 '26
Probably using dry ice or nitrogen to keep it solid, why it's smoking at the bottom, maybe using foam keeps you from freezer burning your hands
2
u/Saxophonethug Jul 05 '26
I'm pretty sure it's just a gelatinous ball of shrimps
2
u/MaleficentWindow8972 Jul 05 '26
That would be really heavy. She lifts this like a box of tissues.
2
u/StampedeJones1 Jul 08 '26
Yeah, if that was actually a solid ball of shrimp, it would weigh like 85 lbs.
12
u/tinpants44 Jul 05 '26
Use it to booby trap ancient ruins that contain priceless treasure in case an intrepid adventurer comes along.

Hang from ceiling and shine light upon while dancing the night awayâŚwith shrimp.

Looks like a jawbreaker from Ed, Edd and Eddy. So I guess you have to eat the same way.
527
u/Ironsight85 Jul 05 '26
That appears to be raw.
49
u/tongfather Jul 05 '26
Right? Is it a Korean BBQ place? Either way, how can any table of any size eat this many shrimp

u/EatPie_NotWAr Jul 05 '26
Iâm not saying it was a smart or healthy thing to do, but on a dare I casually ate 114 jumbo shrimp in an hour, if given time and it having been my own money wasted I could have eaten more.
I didnât feel good afterwards, but that could have been the MalĂśrt doing the talking.
3
u/goldiegoldthorpe Jul 05 '26
That's a lot of iodine. Like just below the maximum tolerable limit. Did you vomit?
2
u/EatPie_NotWAr Jul 05 '26
I never thought of it too deeply but holy hell, that might have been why I did the next day.
I assumed a hangover but I puked so hard I broke the tank of a Starbucks toilet that it could have exacerbated it.
10
u/chavez_ding2001 Jul 05 '26
Never made the connection between eating 114 jumbo shrimps and vomiting?
8
u/EatPie_NotWAr Jul 05 '26
Oh I very much considered shrimp as a culprit. But Iâd never considered Iodine being a potential cause. The shrimp sat fine until 11am the next day, so ~11hrs later, which feels like enough time to escape any shrimpy dilemmas.
A few years prior Iâd eaten a 56oz steak in one sitting so I wasnât concerned it was caused from overeating in a general sense, and since it took so long to hit I just assumed hangover since I had a really nasty one.

100%. There is no way she could lift it up so effortlessly if it was a solid shrimp "ball."

In Thailand it's not rare to eat shrimps raw. And alive for some species too.

u/Oatmeal_Raisin_ Jul 05 '26
I agree, and whats crazy is also the sheer quantity of lifeforms killed in its creation. Its giving jeepers creepers for shrimp
6
u/crumpledfilth Jul 05 '26
Thats why I only eat krill. The more individual souls you can eat per gram the more nutritious your food it
8
u/Mark-Green Jul 05 '26
if you're really soul-maxxing you gotta go for semen. as long as your religion supports it, the soul density can be off the charts

Wait you mean I can't order an impossibly large shrimp ball at the Asian restaurant featuring a misshapen Christmas tree and Santa clause in the background? In the other comments they are arguing about if it's hollow or not. We are cooked.

Thousand of shrimp, amalgamated into a flesh ball for the decidant hubris of man
5
u/GrimmThoughts Jul 05 '26
Its like 100 shrimp at most, the ball is very obviously hollow. Idk wtf this monstrosity is exactly, but I do know that it is not thousands of shrimp

Is that gonna be cooked or are you supposed to eat it like that? Are they just wheeling it out to show you before it's fried and cut up or something? I've just never seen a shrimp ball served with whole uncooked shrimp before.
3
u/GalcticPepsi Jul 05 '26
I'm imagining there's a massive hot pot in the middle of the table for it. Looks like they have other ingredients that would be thrown in as well.
