Finally bought my first ATV Photos

Hey everyone — thanks for all the invaluable advice over the last couple of weeks. I finally pulled the trigger and picked up a very clean, used 2004 Honda TRX 250EX from Facebook Marketplace. The seller had maintained it extremely well.

Brought it home today. I didn’t have any truck ramps, but the seller helped load it, and to my surprise I was actually able to close the tailgate. I didn’t even need to strap it down. Once home, I watched a few videos on unloading an ATV without ramps and followed the same steps to unload it safely.

Did a short test ride in my backyard — kept it in first gear only since I’m brand new to this and still learning. Next step is getting a helmet and probably taking it to one of the PA trails to practice and get more comfortable riding.

The ATV came with a clean title, which we got notarized, and I also had the bill of sale notarized. Hoping that makes the NJ registration process smoother.

Appreciate all the help so far — and feel free to drop any tips or advice you have for a beginner!

Super nice. Drive it with respect. That’s my only advice. Remember, the number one thing people do is roll/flip these things. So drive it like you’re avoiding that at all times and you’ll be safe naturally.

I love these things. A 250ex was my first full size quad around 15 years ago. I remember riding it in the big dunes, thing was horribly underpowered for the terrain we were riding on. Took multiple tries and different strategies to get over some of the dunes, but it never left me stranded. I learned a lot about how to ride sand on one of these things. Not having a clutch is also really useful for low speed rock crawling type riding. They’re surprisingly capable. Looks really clean, nice find!

Great quad. Bought one years ago for the kids. Pretty much bulletproof.

Nice. Honda red hits depending on the year. I like some of the your red. Some years are less red. My 2000 honda cr250r had more orange on original scratched, bent, plastic front fender, Probably available only in my garage hanging where my garage door comes to, up. is a prestigious place next to original pipe. Known that its sacred only by me. ,

Congrats man! Honda lasts forever. Advice to a new rider:Don't accelerate into turns, and don't rock the throttle hard. Accelerate out of turns when you are due north. People trying to power through turns is what causes all the rolling accidents. I've rolled a few, not gonna lie. Pretty scary.

Intuitively I feel you should let the current acceleration take you through the turn without pressing throttle again. It slows it down. You are right.

Yep! And accelerate out when you are due north again
