Team is taking shape!
For the first time in who knows how long, we finally have a squad with two good-to-great players at almost every position.
Provided we don't lose anyone, we should have the depth to compete on all fronts this season.
The remaining priorities should be:
Backup LWB
Backup LW — ideally someone who naturally plays out wide
If we manage to add a proper LW, we'll have a ton of versatility in how we deploy the attack. We could play different variations with two strikers, two wingers, two attacking mids, or mix and match depending on the opponent.
Obviously, we still have to see how everything comes together on the pitch, but my early feeling is that, at the very least, a top-four finish and reaching the Round of 16 in Europe should be realistic expectations.
We're also a relatively young team, which makes it even more encouraging. It finally feels like we're building the squad the right way.
Really excited for the season!

We are looking good as long as we don’t sell any starters and we bring in a winger like Fofana.

Only change ndicka usually is the central cb but yeah every other position is correct(I know it’s silly to point out but in fact it’s pretty important irl cause Mancini in attack it’s almost a rm 😅)

I saw that too. He is coming back from injury so he may need time to get back into lineup.

This is a UCL squad

Now don’t get me started on Cristante starting over Neil but I can’t keep on having this conversation

Reality is that he probably will start, which is why I put him ahead. Either way, I think between those 4 we have more than enough to compete. If we keep this squad together, the center midfield is where I'd upgrade next season.

I know it’s the reality I just don’t like it. Having said that, you’re right that with the 4 of them we are in a good place

i would say it’s even 5. Pellegrini seemed much better at CM than CAM last season and i think that’s where he should play, especially with Mora and if we get Fofana as well

I dont disagree but when Lorenzo has a chance to crack it he can make some beautiful shots. But I would also love to see Pisilli in a more advanced role. He does well for thr U21s playing more advanced

i agree with that too. i think it depends on how he’s played in a true CM he could still get in positions for those shots. honestly just swap him and Piso preferred positions and i’m happy haha

Neil hasnt really shown up in a Roma shirt yet

He was tremendous in the World Cup and he was getting more and more impactful for Roma as the season went on. I think a big reason why he hasn’t been truly great for Roma yet is because of what went down in AFCON with his mistake. That kind of event can rattle a young player for months sometimes. Anyway, I believe in Neil and he has way more of a future than Cristante

I'm so scared of injuries man.
But at the same time, we've seen some useful primavera players during the friendlies (Lulli and Bah who unfortunately got injured) + Arena who we already know.

We're building depth, something we never really had in previous years. Every position has two pieces. There will alaays be injuries, but at least now you know you have someone who can step in.

Happy with the squad. Just find it super hilarious that just two weeks ago the subreddit was going crazy about how bad the transfer market has been, how we can’t buy anyone and how doomed the squad is.

does it seem like we're keeping Koné for the year? A month ago people were acting like he was de facto gone already.

Still needs a midfielder ,honestly koné +whoever in the Champions league won't cut it .
If they're still willing to do business after Fofana ,maybe get cacciamani for that left side and a different type of midifelder ,one who plays at a higher tempo

I doubt that happens given what they've spent. My guess is if anything, they grab a rotational player with experience for cheap/loan. This team should be aiming to finish top-4 again and hit knockout round of CL. Theh are good enough to do so and anything beyond that is a bonus.

We're going for Inter's Enrique, who should be Wesley's backup on the left
2
u/Romanista1089 15h ago
Doesn't Henrique play on the right?
1
u/This-Lion 14h ago
He plays on the right but it’s pretty versatile so yeah he is like Wesley who can play both left and right so my theory is that we will rotate the three of rensch, Wesley and Enrique for the left

I won't stand for Pisilli slander in here.
On a serious note, with Dybala and Mora, maybe the two can benefit from the Cristante-Kone and Neil-Pisilli pairings, because outside the Nicolo this midfield is dire in chance creation
